Street photographer When it comes to telling stories in images, no one i know in my view tells them as vividly as Alex Shapiro. The Cape town based photographer and videographer with a keen eye for detail. From the onset, one can quickly see why he is easily one of my favourite photographers from which most of my inspiration is drawn. His style of photography combines most elements akin to the teachings of a class in visual design and story telling. From expansive landscapes, provocative street and fashion visual, he is my go to guy. The image presentations are always well composed, using design elements like lines which draw the viewers eyes to the subject, but this seems to be achieved in a subtle flow of well thought directives and story telling. He prefers shooting with natural light at any time of the day, which often baffles most photographers as this requires one to study amd underatand what it is they are looking to capture. He also is a travel photographer, and captures immersive scenes and sights either in landscape or aerial shots. If he isn't shooting live subjects almost anywhere you can imagine, he is taking striking sceneries that burst with colour or high architectural buildings and monuments. But one thing remains uniform... Shapiro's images are always rich in texture, perfectly exposed, high sometimes low contrasts with well balanced tones and saturation, and angles that would have any photographer with questions like, "why didnt i think of that before?" His uncanny almost abstract to some degree images, will certainly have you in awe and enchanted by the story told by the pictures he takes. His, truly embody the old saying, an image is worth a thousand words.
