i tend to be generally fearless to a bit of a fault but today i experienced a split second of absolutely primal terror

i was coming home from a hike and was in the mountains waiting for a train to pass so i could cross the tracks. i briefly looked up to look at the train as it approached because i understand the appeal of a good train. i was met with this sight, actively approaching me

my sense of fight or flight is pretty dormant but it hit me so hard i felt vaguely nauseous for five minutes. i sat there in my car looking like id seen someone get shot. for some reason my brain could not process thomas and all i knew was that suddenly my world was very different and very, very frightening

The mayor of Butler, Ohio (population 941) ‘accidentally’ struck a wanted pedophilic rapist with his car as the man attempted to evade the police. Right in front of the rapist’s grandma too. Based on previous news coverage of the rapist in question, he seems to be the local menace. Truly an entertaining read and a breath of fresh air in comparison to the rest of the current news cycle.

Recently I've just come back from vacation on a quaint little tramway, quaintly named the Thorwick and Chillsburg Tramway. I had a very nice time, and I've gotten to see lots of sights and get lots of stories from the nice people and engines that live there. don’t know who needs to hear this but AO3 comments section is not Letterboxd. giving unsolicited criticism to a fanfic writer does not make you a “fanfic critic” because there’s no. such. thing.

giving unsolicited criticism to a fanfic writer just makes you a spoiled, rude, entitled asshole at best, makes the author stop posting their works altogether at worst.

a reminder that it’s always okay to just stop reading and quietly click away from a fic if at any point you feel like you don’t like it for whatever reasons. unless specifically asked, there’s no need to tell the author, whose work you read for free, how you dislike something they wrote for themself for fun.

my phone won’t let me use tumblr or any other app that isn’t settings, and my iPad will be taken on the 16th (I'm using my personal account on my iPad) so I’ll be on a half-hiatus starting the 16th, but there are still other ways I can post.
