Cannes Film Festival 2017
Tumblr media
Sometimes our job is ultra glamorous and no more so than when hot fashion designer Philipp Plein flew me first class to a private villa in the south of France to help shape the look for his new collection during Cannes Film Festival.
The guest list was a who’s who of the fashion and celebrity world with those in attendance including Jeremy ‘hot felon’ Meeks, Paris Hilton, Sophie Richie (daughter of soul legend Lionel) Floyd Mayweather, Eva Longoria and Miles McMillan.
Philipp Plein boasts Oscar-winner Adrien Brody, Kim Kardashian, Chris Brown, Rita Ora and Snoop Dogg among his clientele and it’s easy to see why as the clothes are fab. And the invite ties in nicely with the launch of our own new 2017 collection of hair & beauty packages for the in-house beauty spa, each one being named after a team member with 3 years’ service or more.
As a salon, we’re flattered to have been chosen to deliver the look of Philipp’s show. Now we get to bring the magic to our local customers for 2017!

Fashion Week Globetrotting
Tumblr media
It’s been a busy old month as Fashion Week struts its stuff once again. I found myself working with Super Session Stylist and my old friend Tina Outen in New York, London and Milan tending to the hair needs of the far too good looking models from the hottest designer collections. Curse those perfect genes. It was a chance to challenge myself professionally but, the best part was being able to bring back all the latest looks for my lovely clients in Amersham!
Donald Trump
One of the shows I did was for German designer Philipp Plein in the New York Public Library. His show was called ‘Make New York Fashion Week Great Again’. He’s a big splash in the world of celebrity with those in attendance at the show including Madonna, Kylie Jenner and Paris Hilton but the biggest surprise guest of the evening was Tiffany Trump whose presence was not appreciated by those in attendance. Even fashion gets political sometimes…

Guggenheim Museum
Still in New York, I worked on a great show at the Guggenheim for Maryam Nassir Zadeh who is known for her sophisticated take on laid back elegance. Her designs are must-haves for the city’s style set and her Lower East Side store is a cult favourite.
London Calling…

It wasn’t long before I was back home in Dear Old Blighty and styling for Turkish fashion supremo Bora Aksu. The hair brief was ‘Suffragettes’ and, judging by the way the show went (using our secret weapon, texturizing spray), we got the vote!
Fairies at the Bottom of Our Garden

Talking of secrets, AV Robertson’s show entitled ‘Secret Garden’ had the models posing as outlandish fairies. We pinned the models’ hair to give a frizz effect and pale pink wefts were added. It looked awesome even if I say so myself. Wouldn’t want the fairies to have a bad ‘air day.
Church Collection
I take my job seriously. And there’s no more sombre place to do that than at church. St. Cyprian’s Church in Marylebone to be precise. I was there for Irish designer Sharon Wauchob’s collection. The theme was the forties with our models sporting low side partings. Roar we did.
Dressed to Kilt

Antonio Berardi’s show was one of the highlights of Fashion Week. There was a Macbeth theme to proceedings that was less Banquo and more Banqwow! We gave the hair length and height, creating a look that was meant to be, or, perhaps, not to be. That is the, oh forget it…
Shine Bright Like a Diamond
Markus Lupfer is famed for his knitwear with a devoted star following that boasts Rhianna, Beyonce and Anna Friel. Markus wanted sleek and head hugging styling with the ends dried soft and loose. I used prep spray and gel and it worked a treat.

Sing While You’re Styling
No Fashion Week could be complete without a brush with stardom and, between shows, it arrived. I was asked to style hair backstage at The Brits. I had to sign a disclosure saying I would not reveal who I was working with, imagine how hard that was for me! But Katy Perry’s hair looked amazing.

That’s Amore
After coming home from The Brits at 1:30 am I scarcely had time to pack, before flying to Milan for Fashion Week. The Show was Blumarine, which was one of the biggest shows at Fashion Week and the label was celebrating its 40th Anniversary. No expense was spared with 40 of the worlds top models and a host of celebrity’s in attendance including Amber Le Bon.

Bring It All Back
With all my recent globetrotting I’m really looking forward to being back in the salon with all my wonderful clients, not only telling them about my travels but making sure there up to date with all the latest ideas and trends that I picked up at all the Fashion Weeks.
