[NNN041] Bluszcz - “Junior” LP

We’re very excited to announce Bluszcz’s highly anticipated debut album! “Junior” LP is finally here and it’s a beautiful, engaging album.
Led by Wrocław-based brothers Romek and Jarek, the duo debuted this year with two anonymous singles “Aspen” and “Paraguay”. Both songs carried a charming home-recording quality, early-’80s post punk electronics and deep, almost tropical atmosphere. The Cure in particular have a huge influence by the duo’s own admission. And indeed “Junior” sounds as if “Disintegration” had been recorded on a desert island somewhere in the Caribbean rather then London. And despite all summery sound effects, tropical percussion and reverb-drenched vocals, which would rather suggest good vacation vibes, there’s still more than enough melancholy in Bluszcz’s debut LP to make it also a great soundtrack for your autumnal beach-party nostalgia.
Enjoy!

[NNN038] Niemoc - Mikrofale EP

After the critically aclaimed EP by Suumoo and the debut springlike single by Bluszcz, Brennnessel keeps exploring Poland's finest and freshest sounds. This time we'd like to introduce Niemoc, a guitar infused, instrumental, electronic three-piece from Zielona Góra (South-West Poland).
Sounding something like a warm, wispy mix of Arthur Russell's drum-machines, smooth sophisti-pop guitar licks and classic 80's dance basslines, Niemoc brings unique quality so rare for instrumental bands. Filip, Michał and Radek's fascination with „post-punk” combined with dreamy, exotic electronics resulted in, as the band like to label themselves - „post wave”. The result is extraordinary and couldn't fit better in Brennnessel's current roster.
Niemoc debuts in Brennnessel Records with their two-track release „Mikrofale” and a bonus remix by We Draw A. The release comes out with a beautiful, animated video to „Wyspy Chłodne” by Sonia Skowronek.

[NNN037] Kamp! - Deny SP

Kamp!’s new track Deny is a classic “back to the future”. The desire to evoke the band’s pop roots melts with the need to progress, natural for every creative person. Deny is a song in its most classical form, with the most traditional structure, verses and choruses. Deny is also Kamp!'s first song created with a non-band member, producer Bartosz Dziedzic, who, over the last few months, became a sort of the band's fourth member, radically changing its approach to the creative process. With its joy, the song can also change the weather on the Polish music scene, recently quite sad and serious. Despite its cheerfulness, the song maintained Kamp!'s trademark nostalgia for the holiday sun.
Finally, Deny is the first video to announce the band’s new record, a yet untitled album that will be released over the next few months. The video to Deny was directed by Łukasz Zabłocki, who worked with the band on their previous album.
Deny was reocrded in Red Bull Studios, Sao Paolo, Brazil.

Releases: [BRN035] Suumoo - Wojna EP

Suumoo is a charming indie-rock combining heavy dose of electronics with brilliant polish lyrics - a completely unique sound on the polish music scene.
The group formed in Lublin in 2016 around brothers Paweł and Maciek Kasperczyk. After a short time the band became a trio after Borys Kunkiewicz from Flemings and Stonkatank joined the band.
Their first single Flegma attracted the attention of music press and festival bookers. After the release the band was invited to perform at the Spring Break festival in Poznań and the famous Open'er Festival which was the band's third(!) show ever. Suumoo wasted no time and started working on their debut EP. The finished product titled Wojna, was released in March 2017 and shows the band fully embracing their vision of dreamy indie rock and lighthearted electronic pop. The EP is being teased by the first single Śnieg and the music video by Paweł Księżopolski.

Suumoo had signed with Kamp!'s Brennnessel Records.

Releases: [BRN034] We Draw A - Ghosts LP

On their second album, We Draw A are not interested in what is fashionable, and refuse to carry on with what defined their debut album. Ghosts features eight brand new songs that capture the band's essence and try to deal with the subject of death and an end which only leaves us with the eponymous ghosts.
This is still electronica, but it’s emotional, romantic, sometimes introverted. The term Romantic Techno came naturally some time during the band’s all-day rehearsals in a flat in Wrocław, where Radek Krzyżanowski was meeting with Piotrek Lewandowski, the vocalist and musician and the other half of We Draw A. And indeed #romantictechno perfectly fits the character of this music. All the more reason that the themes of the lyrics that Lewandowski touches – and let's make it turgid – are mutually dissolving death and love, common in Romanticism, as well as the division into the material and the spiritual.
After a year and a half of the release of their debut album Moments, We Draw A is at a different point in their musical journey. Critically acclaimed debut gained fans who discovered on the album something more than just electro pop. The musicians also played two big tours promoting this album and it was during the concerts that the music of We Draw A gained a new character. After a songlike beginning the duet was getting into trance, minute after minute getting deeper into it, to the delight of the audience.
When the musicians got back into the studio, they wanted to capture the vivid, improvised moments of their gigs, simultaneously with the assumption that they do not want to create something entirely new. This is why Ghosts is a continuation of Moments, but because it so progressive, the sophomore cannot be viewed as stagnate.
This album is something beyond fashion, it is not formatted or overwrought. It was classically recorded, it has its narration. It is us, and not a version of some Western artist, We Draw A concludes.

Releases: [BRN033] Kamp! - Orneta LP

Kamp! released their second album Orneta day-to-day, finishing October 2015. The album was far away from waiting for the right time. Nor did it even employ any marketing strategy. It did not give the band a chance for constant changes, all the recipients were treated equally. No one was privileged. Orneta, as each and every sophomore, especially the one following a commercial success of its older brother, was being awaited and rated even before the first listen. It’s something no band can escape. The lads were working on the album since the beginning of 2015. Studio-ridden, they abstained from gigs, interviews, and social media. The result is such an album that is, to say the least, focus-requiring and way different from the debut, mostly in that it lacks the band’s previous focus on those catchy pop tunes. Orneta, indeed, is a dancefloor sort of album, but also a contemplative and melancholic one. And, as we’ve seen with Kamp! so far, it blossoms into a rather energetic piece when performed live.

Releases: [BRN031] We Draw A - Jumbo Love EP

We Draw A two-piece released their debut album in 2014. The material on Moments LP was praised by critics and fans for being undeniably adult and ambitious. Now We Draw hired some of Poland’s finest and most ambitious artists to add some collaborative splendor to their newest Jumbo Love EP.
The Berlin-via-Wrocław duo Viadrina returns to the remixing game and nails it once again with a splendid, deep Reflect rework. So does airy Jumbo Love version by another Wrocław-based, experimental house duo Venter. The final “rainy” remix by T’ien Lai, compromised of Kuba Ziołek and Łukasz Jędrzejczak marks the release with some kraut-flavoured mystery. Meanwhile, our fellow Olivier Heim travels to the city of Osaka, where he records his fabulous lo-fi cover of We Draw A’s City.
Happy Easter!
