RESETTING FOR 2023
â set a main goal for each month.
setting goals give you a direction for each month, so you won't feel a sense of remorse if you felt like you "wasted" a month.
â go on a digital detox
taking time off from a screen gives you the time to reflect and give attention to the things around you more intentionally. slow down, stop rushing, breathe.
â clear out things you no longer need to make space for new opportunities!
removing things that no longer make sense for you gives you a new space, which in turn helps you mentally get prepared for new things coming your way! and as always, a clean space is a clean mindset.
â commit to certain things. be it the gym, or setting time for yourself daily.. just give yourself the chance to be busy (if you aren't already!)
committing helps you fill your schedule so you aren't "wasting time" â in apostrophes because i don't believe that time is ever wasted unless you believe so. however, committing to things gives you the intentional time to meet people and enrich your mind and life :)
â be open-minded. 2023 isn't going to be like 2022. take the chance to step out of your comfort zone! :)
i know that starting a new year can be daunting and intimidating (like, hello? another 365 days to get through? we just ended 2022..) but i believe that we can get through this year together! it'll be tough for sure, but i know that there are some really lovely people in our corner of our internet to help us get by.
question of the day: how has your january been?

20 lessons for 2020
2019 has been a pretty challenging year for me. I started it being scared and anxious about everything, and I ended it single, with new career goals and surrounded by my best friends. Here are 20 lessons (100% tested and approved) that I learned along the way!
1. People only show their best sides to you but you would be amazed by how many people share the same feelings as you
2. If you feel like you canât be yourself around a certain group of people, then youâre hanging out with the wrong group
3. Notice people who make you feel energized and happy VS people who drain all your energy. Itâll change your life.
4. You donât need to justify yourself when you say « no » to something
5. However, you should say yes more often to spontaneous proposals and experiences
6. Honesty is a sign of respect
7. If you donât give your 100% to something then youâll be less likely to get that 100% back
8. Choose flaws over qualities. Your dream job also consists in not-so-dreamy parts, and this is what you should consider when choosing your career. The same applies with friends/lovers.
9. The person you sit in front of at the library can become one of your best friends (true story for me)
10. 99% of the scenarios you imagine in your head will never happen
11. Changing starts within YOUR thoughts and how you react to them.
12. Just because youâre offended it doesnât mean that youâre right
13. Keep a critical eye to everything you hear/see.
14. Being vulnerable is a sign of strenght and not a sign of weakness
15. You can cope with a lot more than you think
16. Your life can totally change in a year and you can be a whole different person only if youâre willing too
17. Cherish what you already have in your life, happiness lies in gratitude
18. Wanting to be perfect for others will only make you seem a boring and hypocrite person
19. The habits you adopt now will define the person youâll be in the future
20. Be curious. Read books, listen to podcasts, travel (even in your country), and talk to new people

How to Fix your Sleep Schedule
Weâve all been there. Youâve been pushing back your bedtime for an entire week and now you feel exhausted and you donât think you can function as well as you normally could. You just want to get enough sleep again, but how?
Make small changes
Itâs a lot easier to push back your bedtime than to push it forwardâbut itâs not impossible. You just have to take it step by step. Go to sleep 15-30 minutes earlier every night until you reach your desired bedtime. You could try going to sleep much earlier than your regular time, but according that doesnât usually work out. If youâre waking up later than you want to, you might also want to try waking up 15 minutes earlier each morning until you get up at the desired time.
I remember there was a week this semester when I went to sleep at 1am for several days in a row (I usually sleep at 11). I was sleep deprived and exhausted and I tried to sleep at 8 to catch up on lost sleep, but I couldnât. I just laid in my bed for an hour until I gave up trying to sleep and decided to work on some homework until I felt sleepy again. What I shouldâve done was go to bed 15 minutes earlier each night until I could go to sleep at 11 again.
Adjust exposure to sunlight
Exposure to adequate amounts of sunlight is key to helping our bodies maintain their circadian rhythm, which is the process that regulates our energy levels during the day and tells us when to be awake and when to go to sleep. Sunlight helps our body produce optimal levels of melatonin, a hormone that makes us feel sleepy at night. Studies have shown that people get better quality sleep in the summer because there is a greater exposure to light.
That being said, you should expose yourself to more light during the day to get better sleep at night. This might mean waking up earlier so you donât miss hours of sunlight in the morning.
At night, you should reduce your exposure to any sort of light - both natural and artificial - so that your body knows itâs time to not be awake. I personally turn down the lights (and only have my fairy lights on) after 10:30 pm. When youâre trying to get back into your desired sleep schedule, you could aim to turn down the lights 30 minutes before your desired bedtime for that day.
Donât eat too close to bedtime
You should wait 2 - 3 hours between dinner/your last meal and bedtime. I would talk about how studies show that eating too close to bedtime can possibly damage your health, e.g. causing reflux when youâre lying down, but thatâs all been said before. The only thing Iâd like to reiterate is that you sleep better when you wait after you eat. But as for my own logic on why you shouldnât go to sleep when youâre fullâŠ
When you wait a few hours after youâve had your last meal, before you go to bed, you wonât go to bed full, meaning that in the morning, youâre likely to be hungry. I donât know about you, but I canât go back to sleep when Iâm, like, starving, so being hungry when I wake up causes me to resist sleeping in.
Donât sleep in
You would think that sleeping in is, in fact, good for catching up on sleep. In reality, it doesnât make you stop sleeping late, since youâd probably still spend the same amount of time awake. Instead, once you wake up, you should stay up, and donât go back to sleep. Youâre likely to get sleepy at an earlier time, and this will help you push forward your bedtime.
Resist napping
Resisting naps also has a similar logic to not sleeping in. If you take a nap, youâll feel more energetic and night, and you might not be able to fall asleep as soon as you wanted to. If you resist taking a nap, however, youâll be more tired at night, and youâll fall asleep more easily.
Be strict with yourself
Finally, the key to having a good, consistent sleep schedule is to be strict with yourself. Donât let yourself stay up for just 5 more minutes because you still have a âsmallâ task to take care of. When itâs time to end the day, end the day.
Maybe itâs hard for you to be strict with yourself since you canât justify going to sleep over completing whatever task or responsibility you have left. Well, hereâs my logic:
You could stay up 5 more minutes and risk extending that to a few hours or so in attempt to finish something. Thereâs no guarantee that youâll finish it, and you might just lose all those precious hours of sleep for nothing, since youâll wake up in the morning tired and unable to effectively do the task you wanted to do; or
You could stop everything youâre doing and sleep on it. You wake up in the morning feeling refreshed and clear-headed and ready to tackle on your tasks for the day. You find a new way to think about the task you were stuck on, and you finally solve it in less than half an hour.
I do realize that this only applies if the task isnât super urgent. Letâs say you have a project due 11:59 PM and youâre rushing to finish that. In this case, the core problem is probably something else: an inability to manage your time, or procrastination. If thatâs the case, you might want to check out my posts on how to beat procrastination and how to create an efficient (revision) schedule. The latter post is tailored for exam preparation, but the main ideas are the same for general scheduling (thereâs a recap at the bottom if you just want to know the main ideas).
Additionally, you might wanna check out my post on my night routine.
And thatâs all I have for you today! Hope this was helpful, and if you have any questions, feel free to drop me an ask or message me. Have an awesome day :)

i think we all know this feeling of being stuck inside your routine. youâre not really sad but it just feels like something is missing. so iâm here to give you ideas on how to spice things upâąïž (or just make life more enjoyable).
paint your nails in an exciting color. paint them in several colors idc. now every time you see your hands (which is very often) you see your super cool nails
listen to a new music genre. like something completely different. if you like rap you will listen to country music now. jam your heart out i know u want to (here & here are some playlists if u need any ideas)
on that note revisit songs you liked when you were younger. we gettin nostalgic
sometimes you just need to watch a good old vine compilationÂ
food!!! this can be such a huge factor. something as simple as switching your breakfast from toast to cereals, just smth new, can make a huge difference. try new things out, have fun (recipes here, here, here and here)
same thing with the things you drink! add lemon to your water, drink some tea, try iced coffee out, buy water from a diff company, âŠ
a cute cup for your morning drink can really lighten up your mood too
get some magazines and cut things out you like. now get an a3 (a4 is okay too) paper and make a big collage
ikea trip? ikea trip!! donât forget to eat smth there too yum
after showering put on some good smelling lotion and just enjoy the feeling
now put on your favorite underwear and an oversized shirt. maybe take some cute pics just for yourself. trust me you will feel better
rip a paper into little pieces
cuddle with your stuffed animal idc if you feel stupid, you will feel better
maybe spice things up with the way you look? try out a new hairstyle or invest in a new accessory you like (jewelry, hair ties / clips, belts, scarfs, etc.). it doesnât have to be expensive, thereâre lots of cute things in second-hand stores for example!
start a challenge in whatever youâre interested in. maybe for a hobby you always wanted to try out or pick up again. thereâre tons of challenges on pinterest. i think i will try this one out though
write a love letter to yourself. you deserve one. fold it into a very small piece and put it into your pocket. this is now your lucky charm because trusting in yourself is all you need sometimes
buy groceries but this time with a friend or family member. catch up, have fun, buy some cookie dough and eat some cookies
picnics!!!!!!!! i love picnics!!!!! theyâre so cute and actually super easy to organize. you can go alone or with someone else. just grab the food you have at home and a blanket and go to the nearest spot you find. even your garden or balcony. you can easily incorporate this into your day if you donât have much time. instead of eating your dinner at your kitchen table you will go on a picnic now
if you have more time, you can bring a book with you or some art supplies and enjoy time outside
taking a walk listening to your fav album can help so much
change your bedding. you donât even need to buy a new one, just wash it and get that feeling of freshness
open one of these sites (1, 2, 3): and read an article that seems interesting
buy flowers for yourself and put them in your room
change the color your laptop highlights things in
declutter your phone and laptop in general. set up some new backgrounds that make you happy
vary your commute. take the bus instead of the subway, get off a station earlier, or if you can, take the bikeÂ
change the places you do things. try studying in the library or a café, scroll through your phone not in your bed but at the kitchen table, read on the floor, every small change adds into spicing things up
take a bath when you shower normally or the other way around
light candles in the evening
search for your old nintendo and play some games
stretch in the morning. even for 2 mins is good
download some new apps
try a no social media day
instead of a black / blue pen write in a different color (for example your groceries lists, on post-its, in your journal, âŠ)
i hope some of these ideas can help you! most of the are easy to incorporate into your daily life and take no to little money. have a nice day!! <3

types of study breaks for every situation
if you realize youâve been studying for hours: grab a snack to refuel your body and watch a sitcom to refuel your brain. then back to the books.
if youâre feeling stressed out: take some deep breaths, text your friends, maybe stare at a wall for a few minutes. gather yourself.
if you canât seem to focus: get moving and get outside. take out the garbage, check your mail box, maybe walk your dog. just get moving and get fresh air. itâll help bring you back.
if thereâs something else going on in your life and you canât get it off your mind: write down whatâs going through your head, sort of like a diary entry. itâll help you work things out.
if youâre just mentally and physically exhausted: set a timer for 25-30 minutes and take a nap. any longer and youâll hit REM and youâll wake up feeling just as tired. once you wake up, get some caffeine in you.
if the material is boring as hell: find another way to study. see if thereâs a crash course video online about it or draw out what youâre trying to learn in diagrams and pictures to make it fun.
if people around you wonât shut up: listen to some music. soundtrack and classical music is always good because they wonât absorb you as much as music with lyrics. white noise (like ocean waves, rain sounds, etc.) also works.
if you only half understand a concept: call/message a friend whoâs not in the class and try to teach the material to them. this will help you mentally work through the material and will help you remember it as well.
