Customers/Interviewees
Today, I spoke with Mr. Shan Benedict Amante, a 3rd Year BSIT Student. He shared his experiences with library seating issues and how it affects his studies. Hearing his perspective made me realize how helpful a Library Space Management System could be for students like him.
Q1.How do you think the lack of available study spaces in the library affects the overall student community?
-Very frustrating sya as in kay if muadto ka didto sa library then makakita ka na murag kuan ahh walay space kapoy kaayo baklay palugar ko gikan kuan padulong di paralang makita na walay space nganong mubalik paman ko diri nga murag gyapon kung muadto ko didto walay gyapoy space, so murag it defeats the purpose for library gyapon and more ok kawala pud imong like enjoy or like fun na mo adto didto kay we dont know before han kung unsay naa didto sa library so like apprehend imong like mood when it comes to library.
Q2.Have you noticed your peers facing similar challenges with finding study spaces in the library? How do they cope with it?
-Hmm daghan gyud like specially akong mga friends like kaingon sila nga "Shan tan aw didto sa library tanaw sa kung nabay kuan didto linkoranan para dili mi mag hago" so mogyud na so kami suko rami na inana tungod adto sa mga -??????- kay tan saw mo kung naay mga spaces kay mau lagi if mag dungan mi kay murag wa man mi kakitag seats kay na subrahan kay na fill up na sya diritso and murag mag kuan nalang mi na ahh mangita nalang tag own na place na studyhan either balay ba or like diha sa kilid or sa park.
Q3.How do you think being informed about available seats in the library could impact the sense of community among students?
-Very very convenient as in kay if ma ka know na beforehand before ka mo go sa library, murag nanakay sense daan na where to go gyud kay if naa then of course moadto kag library if wala you can go somewhere else so murag sa kuan mangyud sya for sake of it sa tanan tao very very very convenient sya.
Insights:
It’s frustrating when there aren’t enough study spaces in the library, and students often waste time looking for seats. Many end up asking friends to check or studying somewhere else. A Library Space Management System that shows available seats in real-time would make things easier and help students make better use of the library.

TAM SAM SOM
I Interview Mr. Nicole John M. Clapero,a 3rd year CSTE_BTVTED CHS-3A

Insight:
Based on Mr. Clapero’s feedback, a reservation system in the USTP library would be highly beneficial, especially during exam periods when finding vacant study spaces is a major challenge for students. He emphasized how time is often wasted searching for spaces, which affects their study efficiency. Mr. John also noted that the system would not only improve the study experience but also promote fair access to library resources. He estimated that while many USTP students rely on the library for studying, only about 30% might actively use the reservation system. This suggests that while the system would be valuable, its adoption might depend on factors like convenience and awareness.
Conclusion:
Mr. Clapero’s insights highlight the need for a reservation system to address current challenges in the USTP library. To maximize its potential, efforts should focus on making the system easy to use and raising awareness among students. With proper implementation, this system could significantly improve library efficiency and the overall study experience, even if it initially serves a smaller percentage of students.
Question:
"Do you think it would help if the USTP library had a system to reserve study spaces? How many students do you think would actually use it?"
Answer:
"A reservation system in the USTP library makatabang jud sa mga students particularly during exam periods. halusa jud mga students ga lisud ug pangita ug vacant space para mag study this often leads to wasted time. Kay kon kini na system ma implement jud sa library dako kaayu ni sya nga tabang to enhance the study experience of all students and also it ensure for fair access to resources. I think sa akong estimate daghan man jud kaayu students sa atung university kasagaran sa library jud ga stay para maka study. Pero sa akong estimate siguro nasa 30% rajud ang maka gamit Ani na systema."
I also told him about the background of our startup business which is Library Space Management (EaseSpot).

TEM and Tech101 Lecture Series
At the recent lecture series, Karl Fajardo, co-founder of Serial Disruptors Learning Opportun-IT, explained why revenue models are vital for all businesses, whether they’re focused on social impact or profit. Revenue models create a stable foundation that allows companies to grow, adapt, and earn the confidence of investors and partners.
Social Enterprises vs. Non-Social Enterprises Social Enterprises: These businesses focus on solving social or environmental challenges. While they make money, their main goal is to make a positive impact.
Non-Social Enterprises: These companies aim to make as much profit as possible for their owners or shareholders.
Despite their different goals, both need solid revenue models to keep operating and expanding. Why Revenue Models Matter
Sustainability: They create a steady cash flow to keep the business running.
Growth: Good models help a business expand and improve.
Credibility: A clear revenue plan boosts trust from investors and partners, making it easier to attract support.
Without a strong revenue model, businesses are at risk of stagnation and losing stakeholder confidence. Key Takeaways -Every business, social or profit-driven, needs a clear revenue model. -Choosing the right model is essential for reaching either financial or social goals. -Subscription models are effective for providing reliable income, making them a popular choice for companies looking for stability.
Revenue models aren’t just a way to make money—they’re what keep businesses going and growing.
