Ohoo new stardew farmer brainworm has hatched

a terminally ill farmer :) who’s been avoiding being an established patient of Harvey’s :) ducking and dodging getting her annual check up in fear he’ll figure out what’s wrong :)

>> She left the city life when doctors were sure she was only going to get worse, forgoing treatment to make something of her own before she goes. Within that time she grew fond of the townies and now she’s trying to make as much as she can to leave for everyone.

>> Lewis is bewildered when she drops off essentially a Will late at night :) but she assures nothings wrong :) better to be safe than sorry, anything can happen in the mines or working with the farming equipment :) oh yeah, she’d update it when she actually gets close to dying haha

>> Sebastian has always heard someone tell him he should quit smoking, but no one ever said it with such trepidation before :) they’re sitting side by side next to the bustling saloon, and for some reason, tonight must have opened up a lot of Big Feelings for her :) he listens quietly as she mentions her grandma passed from cancer, and she thinks the long game is way worse than suddenly dying from an accident :) waiting as your body starts to break down, watching as your family grieves for you while you’re still there :) he agrees, he should stop. Maybe now he actually starts remembering to combat the cravings instead of giving in.

>> She’s hanging out with Sam and Penny, and the conversation gets brought to how excited Penny is to have kids of her own. Vincent and Jas are great, and she loves being around kids :) Sam agrees; he thinks he’d like to have a kid one day. What about the farmer? :) But she laughs awkwardly :) Having a kid... the process sounds painful, and she’d have to take a lot of time off of work :) Penny cuts in, but it’d be so worth it! To create and raise a child that’s a collaboration between you and the person you love... Penny didn’t mean to dismiss the farmer’s feelings or to sound like she’s trying to change her mind, but all of it puts a sour taste in the farmer’s mouth :) She’s long accepted she’ll never have that “happy ending” future life everyone her age expects to have :) She just doesn’t know how to act with the constant reminders that she’s dying.

>> And, oh... Harvey. He discovers something’s wrong when she sprains her wrist and is forced to go to the clinic. He wraps her sprain, does a quick vital check, and hears it through the stethoscope. The murmer in her heart. He tells her it’s something he wants to come back to but moves on and asks if she’s taking any medication that could interfere with the pain meds he wants to assign her. She's silent before finally listing off prescription, after prescription, after prescription.

Every one caused Harvey to sweat under his doctor's coat. You're ill. But not like, cancer ill. But you have a genetic condition and it caused your heart to fail before and you were told you only had 8-12 months to live? And when that passed, your survival percentage went down and now there's a 75% chance you're going to die in the next 5 years?

The statistics are racing through his mind. His friend. Someone who became so dear to him in such a short amount of time, couldn't bring herself to tell anyone she could disappear?

But he needs to remain professional because he can see the anxiety in her eyes. So he holds her hand, and goes through their options.
