John-I really like your animation, it’s very smooth and colorful as well. The background turned out really nice.
Juman-I like your idea. I think a crash sound effect would add to your animation but I like the music, it fits well.
Katrina-I like it, the color definitely adds to it. It’s clean and I like your idea a lot.
Leah-I really like the colors. The animation looks nice and clear, especially the person pulling out the phone.
Liam-Your animation looks really nice and it’s very smooth and detailed. I can tell you put a lot of work into this.
Matthew-Looks good but a little more color would be nice. The addition of the background definitely adds to it and I like the bark sound effect a lot.
Na’Onti-Looks good, the spaceship is a little hard to see and tell what it is though.
Paige-Really nice. Very colorful and your flower looks great. The way the drop falls off the leaf is well done.

This week I drew some more frames of my flip book. I’m not quite done with sketching yet. I do realize I need another frame or two in between the last two drawings. After sketching, I am going to go over it in pen and then color it in.

This is my progress so far. I made a rough sketch of what I wanted the flower to look like. I also sketched the first 10 frames of the flip book.

Project 3
My idea for an animation is a flipbook of a flower growing and blooming and a bee buzzing around it. I am going to draw it on index cards. In the final video, I will just record myself flipping through it.

Project 3 Ideas
For my animation, I am thinking I will probably do a flipbook although I am considering cut-outs or drawings as well. I am not sure what exactly I will do, but I have a few ideas. Some of my ideas are baking a cake, making breakfast with eggs, toast, etc., spring themed with flowers blooming, birds chirping, etc., or maybe one based off a game such as pac-man.

Project 2 Comments
John- Even though you couldn’t go to the underwater dome at the park, I still think you made an interesting audio tour. I enjoyed listening to the memories that you have of that place. The wind was not too bad, and I could still hear your voice.
Juman- I liked how your audio tour was recorded in your neighborhood. It sounds like your neighborhood is a lot of fun especially with the tennis court and the pool! You did a great job at describing everything in detail and I could picture what it would actually be like if I was there. One suggestion that I have is to have combined the four audios into one, but it was still well done.
Katrina- I really liked how yours was based on your childhood memories in your backyard. The chimes made the whole audio tour very peaceful and calm, as you were reminiscing on your childhood. I enjoyed how you talked about the past but also what it looks like today.
Liam- I thought your audio tour was enjoyable. It was interesting to hear you talking about your memories of being at your old school and discovering how some things have changed since you were last there with the playground but also yourself.
Leah- Although your audio tour went a little long, I really enjoyed listening to all of the stories and I found it very interesting and engaging actually! It seems like you have some great memories of your childhood. I would definitely have done the same thing as you if a bat had flown into my house as well. How did your dad get it out?
Matthew- Your audio tour was a nice mix of both your memories and descriptions of what the area is like today. It was a little long, but you still kept my interest by talking about the stories you have from this place. Overall, I enjoyed listening to yours, and it sounds like you and your friends had a fun time on the motocross track!
Na’Onti- It was nice to hear a little something different compared to the other audio tours--the inside of a home. Despite it being on the shorter side, your audio tour was put together well and had great descriptions of what your best friend’s house actually looks like. One thing that I noticed is there is some background noise that is loud at some points, but I could still hear what you were saying.
Paige- I really liked your audio tour and it was nice to see a different perspective on this project of walking through your home’s downtown. There were a lot of different sounds you could hear as well, from the birds chirping to cars and buses driving by, which made it seem lively. Even though the tour was a little long, the stories you told made it all the more interesting.

Project 2 Ideas
I am going to record my audio tour outside most likely at a park. I have a few places in mind that I have been to many times before and I am familiar with. I will talk about what I see and hear and possibly some of my memories.

John- I think that your project was well done! The shots are clear and I like how you explain everything that happened in the past. It’s scary to think about a nuclear war possibly happening in the future. The explosion at the end is quite loud though so I would suggest lowering the volume on that.
Juman- I liked your story and the audio sounds great. I also think that tiktok filter you used looks great. At the end, I like the transition effect between the pictures. Overall, great job!
Katrina- I really liked your project. I think the dream in a dream was quite interesting and creative! The distorted effect is cool as well. All the clips flowed well together.
Leah- I enjoyed watching your video. I really liked your storyline, it was very creative! Also, that is cool that you can play the flute. I think your voice sounds better than your rough edit, it’s much clearer.
Liam- I loved how you animated the text on screen and with the sound effects, it made it really interesting to watch actually! Good job on the green screen as well. Overall, I think your concept is intriguing!
Matthew- I think your video was very interesting! It seems very natural when you are talking. The green screen is well done. I really like the story and how you talk about this planet growing and progressing. I like the side story about Joe too.
Na’Onti- Your video was very enjoyable to watch. I like how happy yours is and how it’s about your memories of your childhood. One thing that I can suggest is the music is a little loud and at some points it’s hard to hear your voice, but overall good job!
Paige- I really liked how yours was about nature and animals and how positive it was. Your birds are super cute too. The voice over was also very well done and clear!

When I’m Older Project
I made some changes to the ending of my script. I am not going to talk about climate change anymore. I am just focusing on overpopulation and the problems that it will create, such as a lack of food and water. In this future society, we will only be able to fill up one large water bottle a day for drinking and if you take anything more than that, it’s illegal. Since there’s 11 billion people, there needs to be enough water for everyone. The video will start with me waking up in the morning and shows me throughout the day. My alarm rings at 7:30 am, I turn it off and get up. I take my “miracle medicine” which makes me look young. I walk out. I open the bathroom door and turn on the light. I turn on the shower and then off. I am in a different outfit. I brush my teeth and hair and leave. I walk into the kitchen and get my free rations, two pieces of toast and an apple. I fill up the water bottle with my daily allowed water. I eat breakfast and then go to work at my desk. It’s 8 am. I say “now to get to work.” I will show me working at different times during the day, from 8 am to 4 pm. As the day goes on, I will drink more water and end up with very little by 4 pm. I decide to go fill up the bottle again (even though taking more water is considered illegal) and no one will even know that I did. Later on, I hear a noise outside and the police have come because I used too much water. The screen goes to black.

Prep work
This week I mostly practiced with my camera. I took a few test shots and videos with my camera to help me better plan out each scene and shot in my film. I gathered some props to use. I may still make some changes to my script, especially with the ending because I am not sure how long it will be already.

Second Draft Script for Short Film
Throughout my video, I will be showing the day to day life of me living in the year 2072, when I will be 70 years old. I will look the same as I do today because of the new “miracle medicine” now available to those over the age of 65, which transforms you to look as you did when you were 18. I will not talk to the camera directly, but I will have a voiceover talking about what life is like due to overpopulation and discuss the effects of climate change on the world. I will also take some shots of nature.
*The video will start with a black screen with the text: “Life in the Year 2072.”*
Scene 1: Bedroom
Shot 1: Me sleeping.
Shot 2: Alarm ringing.
Shot 3: I turn it off and get out of bed.
Shot 4: Blinds open.
Shot 5: I take “miracle medicine”.
Scene 2: Bathroom
Voice-over: “The world population is 11 billion. We are running out of resources to support this many people here on Earth. There is a lack of food and water, and cities are overcrowded. We are allowed a 2-minute shower per day.”
Shot 6: I open the bathroom door and turn on the light.
Shot 7: I turn on the shower.
Shot 8: I brush my hair and my teeth.
Shot 9: I change clothes.
Scene 3: Kitchen
Voice-over: “Each day we are given our free rations. It’s not much, but enough to keep everyone alive. It’s necessary because it helped solve world hunger many years ago.”
Shot 10: Show two pieces of toast on a plate and a cup of tea.
Shot 11: I eat the breakfast.
Scene 4: Nature
Voice-over: “The Earth is 13 degrees Fahrenheit hotter than just 50 years ago. This has caused problems across the globe. Some places have become uninhabitable because of the heat. Today on December 12th, it will be 55 degrees in Michigan. Our summers here are usually around 90 degrees.”
Shot 12: The forest in the wintertime.
Voice-over: “Sea levels are their highest ever and have flooded places like Miami, NYC, and Los Angeles and as a result, have crowded inland cities even more.”
Shot 13: Show the waves from the ocean.
*Screen turns to black.*
Voice-over: “This is what our future could look like if we don’t act now. Overpopulation and climate change are real problems that we need to solve. We want to help save the planet, but it will not happen if we don’t make an effort together.”

“Future You”, “Immortality”, & “It’s Hopeless”
The first article “Future You” talks about the Past You, Present You, and Future You. The author Tim Herrera explains these three versions of you and gives examples on how the past you affects the future you, for better or worse. I found this article was especially interesting when he points out that putting away money for retirement may seem not important now, but that future you will be so glad that you did. Overall, I really enjoyed reading this article because it will change your thinking about yourself.
The second article “Immortality” was fascinating to think about how life could be like in the future. The author David Smith mentions in 2050, people would be able to “download your mind into a machine, so when you die it’s not a major career problem.” The article was written in 2005 when 2050 would have seemed like a long time away, but now it is just under 30 years away. I cannot predict what life will be like 30 years from now, but I think it will be a lot different from now. I believe we will definitely have advanced in technology by then, but I think what David Smith explains would come later than 2050.
The third article “It’s Hopeless” by Per Espen Stoknes mainly focuses on global warming and climate change and our future. Many think that our future will be all negative or even all positive, but Stoknes argues it will be a mix of both and that we can not truly predict the future. He describes optimism and pessimism, but also mentions skepticism, a way that opens our future to a world beyond optimism or pessimism and embraces the unknown. He also relates this to his own experiences, specifically when a terrible explosion and shooting happened, his community came together and showed so much love. I agree with what Stoknes says about our future that there will be some positives and some negatives and it was very interesting read.
