UPDATE 7

Journey so far:

Wrapping up my internship at Inspire Church with all that I’ve done has been amazing.  Looking at just how many videos I’ve edited and seeing the many that have been posted has been an honor.

The road ahead:

Planning to shoot interviews is on the way.

Bumps along the road:

Preparation is tricky when plans have been set in stone so I’m finding the pocket of time that is slow for interviews.

Road map progress:

Internship is finishing up and I am putting together the paper as well as getting ready for the interviews.

UPDATE 6

Journey so far:

Made considerable progress on social media clip edits from the back log folder for re-visions from the volunteer who is no longer assisting.  Had fun being able to film for Young Adult service and see how that was used for social media.  Also found some great sources for my paper.

The road ahead:

Still working on interview scheduling as well as putting the finishing touches on my paper.

Bumps along the road:

Something that I’m dealing with is getting a concrete time that I can get people to do their interviews due to demand for the holiday preparations that needs to be done.

Road map progress:

Internship hours are still going strong and I have my questions ready to go for the interviews.

UPDATE 5

Journey so far:

I’ve been tasked with re-editing social media clips that were originally done by a volunteer who no longer assists with the editing of social media clips and have been making progress on those.  While also working on my own revisions.

The road ahead:

Things I’m working on ahead are folders of videos that have re-visions so that we can clear out the main video file to clear up space on frame.io.  Another thing in the works is getting sources for my paper.

Bumps along the road:

Some things that have been giving me issues have been scheduling issues and family getting sick.

Road map progress:

I have continued to make strides with my assigned tasks in my internship while also finalizing my questions that I will be asking for the interviews.

UPDATE 4:

Journey so far:

Two weeks sure fly by quickly and with all the social media clips I’ve been editing I’ve definitely gotten better with my workflow and implementing revisions faster.  I’ve been slowly seeing more of the videos I’ve edited used for social media posts.  I’ve also got to sit behind the center camera to capture video for our “Young Adult” church service this past Tuesday and got to see how they utilized that for a social media clip that got posted yesterday 

The road ahead:

For the next two weeks I’ll be working on locking in filming dates and times with the staff that I will be interviewing while working on more editing.

Bumps along the road:

A bump along the road that I’m currently going through was realizing that the captions on some of the videos that have been posted have parts of the captions cut off on both sides and now I’ll have to change how I edit future video captions to avoid this from happening.

Road map progress:

My internship is going smoothly and I’m getting to see more and more of what I’ve been working on being put to use and how I can prepare for future edits.  I’v workshopped out some interview questions that I will most likely be using for my interviews.

The Social Media clip that I’m showing went through about five revisions going from an initial Fifty second clip to a now thirty seven second clip.

UPDATE 3:

Journey so far:

These past two weeks have really moved fast but I can finally say that the work I’ve done so far has been seen and reviewed with only needing minor revisions.  This was honestly the best news I could hear because going forward it now means that I don’t have to search for background music for the videos and just purely focus on working on the videos that have yet to be edited.  I’ve also taken some time looking up information and working on questions to submit for the interviews I will be doing.

The road ahead:

For the next two weeks I will be working on improving my workflow so that I can better manage editing and gathering information as well as blocking out time with the team here to see when we can film the interviews.

Bumps along the road:

One bump along the road that I’m currently working on finding time to work on this paper but I believe it will be getting better since my other bump along the road is finally gone, which was looking for background music.

Road map progress:

The progress I’ve made while interning has been very consistent and I have been able to finally work on the revisions that I’ve been waiting for feedback on.  While looking for information for my paper has been fruitful the actual paper has not so I’m working on that currently in the weeks to come.

UPDATE 2:

Journey so far:

These past two weeks have been spent getting more into the groove of editing the social media clips while waiting to hear back if there needs to be any revisions.  Beyond editing social media clips I was able to help with setting up for the “I am Her” podcast.  I was also able to man the camera for the Inspire Church “Deep Dive” shoot that was being recorded at our church Young Adult service.

The road ahead:

For the next 2 weeks I’ll be blocking out time to really dive into the research paper and working on the deliverable that I will be showing off at the end of the semester while still maintaining the hours at my internship.

Bumps along the road:

I would say so far the things that cause the most hurdles would have to be finding the right music for the social media clips that I am working on because out of the whole process finding the right music is the most time consuming.

Road map progress:

Internship hours are going great in terms of me fulfilling those requirements and getting to see more behind the scenes.  My research paper/deliverable are what will be of concern but I will have time blocked out in the weeks to come gather that.

Update 1:

Journey so far:

Since the start of the semester I’ve been getting plugged in with the Creative Media team at Inspire Church in Waikele.  Right now I’m currently working on a process they call Juicing which is when we take segments from either a Sunday service or Podcast and create social media clips highlighting key points or interesting things that were said.  

The road ahead:

For the next 2 weeks I will most likely be continuing with edits for more social media clips and hopefully do some filming.  I should probably start gathering information for my research paper too.

Bumps along the road:

While working on the social media clips I did have a small hiccup in terms of my settings not importing immediately for my captions and quickly fixed that by unselecting my preset that I made and reselecting it.

Road map progress:

On my timeline I would say that I’m doing well as far as getting my hours in for my internship portion but for my timeline for collecting and producing my research paper I am currently at the starting phases.

One Capstone that stuck out to me was the one by Jakestone Godfrey who did his research topic on Cinematography and his deliverable being footage that he gathered while at Org Media and the interviews that he had of those who work there. What stuck out to me was the interview of Jeff Orig because he highlights the ability to be able to wear many hats in the field especially when dealing with low budget filming. This stuck out to me because I realized the need for myself to pick up more skills to be well rounded.
