Released on this day in 1977, “Gary Gilmore’s Eyes” by the punk rock band the Adverts.

The song revolves around the eyes of the executed double murderer Gary Gilmore.

A roster of brilliant adverts in this one, including Fisons Levington (Levington now a brand name in its own right), Carling Black Label, Do It All, Zanussi, Quaker Harvest Crunch (who on earth asks for a packet of Rolos for breakfast anyway?), and KP Nuts (which brilliantly borrows from Lene Lovich’s ‘Lucky Number’)
