catelyn competing with a woman who never actually existed to maintain her status as lady of winterfell vs cersei competing with a younger and more beautiful queen, who is everyone and no one, to maintain her status as queen.

catelyn and cersei knowing that their power as highborn women is wholly dependent on their fathers and husbands and sons. sinking their teeth in and refusing to let go. never forgetting how easily they can be replaced. forever haunted by a woman lurking in the shadows (she’s not real) (she’s everywhere).

The thing about Sansa is her courtesy is a survival strategy, an active choice she makes again and again because she understands the precariousness of her situation, not just some innate trait she was born with. It is her sword and shield. I wish more people would realise that.

If you have the time- Sansa loving herself despite everything and being the Queen she is would be lovely to see. (P.s. You portray characters beautifully.)

possibly the greatest asoiaf moment ever is when jon gets the letter about bran waking up and mormont expects him to grieve because “sorry kid :( it’s actually bad news :( he’s never going to walk again :(” but jon is all like “my brother is going to live !!!” and then he races out of the room and tells everyone he passes that “my brother is going to live !!!” and he gets back to the common hall and picks tyrion up and spins him around and makes him read the letter too because “my brother is going to live !!!” and he’s so giddy that he befriends grenn and tells thorne to go fuck himself and then everybody laughs and jon is just so happy because “my brother is going to live !!!”

meanwhile bran is back in winterfell listening to robb’s bannermen whisper about how death is a kinder fate than his, how they should’ve just let him die, how he’s too broken to be alive—with no idea that his big brother is out there celebrating because bran is going to LIVE !!!

saw someone say that they base their opinions of asoiaf tumblr users off of the sansa stark opinions they have on their blog and i was struck with the urge to reblog a bunch of sansa stark posts to show that i am an Enjoyer of sansa. and then i went through my own blog and went "oh nvm. everybody knows already lol"

catelyn says she’s taken many wellborn ladies into her service which implies she has done this while in winterfell but george’s complete inability to imagine friendships between women whenever he is not Directly writing from a woman’s pov completely nerfs her so everyone thinks catelyn was some hating ass idiot who didn’t hang out with the northern ladies. she did, george is just completely uninterested in talking about it 😭
