Summary of Round 1 (NHL):
A quick note on some labels
% indicates the difference in percentage of votes, while # indicates the difference in the number of votes
Upsets: the lower seeded player beat the higher seeded player, (seed) refers to the difference in their seed numbers
Neutral votes: the combined "not blorboable" and "see results/don't know them"
And a summary of the players who made it to Round 2:
Key takeaways and bonus facts:
The Sidney Crosby-Jack Eichel poll was an outlier, big time. The poll with the second most votes was Erik Johnson-Lane Hutson with 836 votes. Without the Crosby-Eichel poll, the average votes/poll is 552.40 and the player with the most votes is Macklin Celebrini with a measly 539 (literally half as many as Sid)
The Golden Knights got absolutely crushed. They're the only team that got fewer than 100 votes combined, and both players got swept by over 80 percentage points.
P.O. Joseph was a huge upset over Jeff Skinner, but the next biggest was pretty significant too. Andre Burakovsky beat Nathan Mackinnon and they were seeded 69 (nice) places apart, although it was by a much smaller margin.
Forwards increased their share of the bracket by nearly 10%, while defense and goal both decreased.
For all 3 nationalities that were eliminated, they only began with one player in the bracket. However, the only Bulgarian (Georgiev*) and the only Slovakian (Slafkovsky) both advanced.
9 entire teams were eliminated... can we call them the least blorboable teams?
*This is actually sort of a mistake. Georgiev is a dual citizen of Bulgaria and Russia, and he plays for Russia internationally (or at least he did when Russia was allowed to play at international tournaments). For other dual citizens, I labeled them by national team they play for, but I appear to have missed Georgiev.

I don't know if anybody actually cares, but I love data and numbers and spreadsheets, and making spreadsheets is literally a hobby to me.
I was going to put this all in an ask but decided fuck it, it'll be easier to compile like this. I sent in the answers to my initial question as anons (NHL, PWHL), but I started a spreadsheet and it kind of spiraled and now I have a bunch of data. All of this is being collected for the NHL bracket, but round 1 for the PWHL bracket is already over and I don't want to wait to share it.
@hockeyblorbopolls
Here is a summary of the results of Round 1 (PWHL)
A quick note on how what labels mean:
% indicates the difference in percentage of votes, while # indicates the difference in the number of votes
Upset: the lower-seeded player beat the higher-seeded player, (seed) refers to the difference in their seed number
Neutral Votes: the combined results of "not blorboable" and "see results/don't know them"
The last panel is the sum of the votes for each player of the team
Last but not least, a summary of the players who made it through to round 2:
*the greyed out rows means that the bracket started out with players of that nationality, but none made it to this round
#i don’t think you guys understand how into data i am#there are like 10 other characteristics I’ve been considering adding#should I do age??? should I do draft pick round??? should I do stats???? should I do trophy winners vs no trophies???#this is restraint#for me.#ignore that i said boston fleet votes and then didn’t put votes on all the other lines. will be fixed in future rounds#you may think: wow that must be a lot of work to maintain.#WRONG. it was a lot of work to set up. now I simply enter the exact results as they are presented to me by tumblr#and the spreadsheet does the rest :)#like I enter the percentage for each player and the total number of votes#and everything else is automatic#tbh. one of my favourite spreadsheets that I’ve done on my own

I hate being at work during the game sooooo much. Last thing I checked it was 3-0 and I was in the depths of despair. I come back and check and it’s tied. thank fuck thank fuck thank fuck. I don’t know who all scored but I want to kiss them on the lips
