From the beginning, Geralt had known that Jaskier was Fae—after all, the bard never made any effort to hide his non-human traits. There were countless hints that Jaskier loved being Fae, especially since it meant he could age at his own pace, choosing his appearance as he pleased.

No one knew exactly how Nilfgaard discovered Jaskier’s secret, but when Geralt finally found him in one of their dungeons, the bard had already been poisoned with something lethal to Fae.

Geralt brought him back to Kaer Morhen, but it was clear that Jaskier was dying. Neither Yennefer nor Vesemir knew how to heal a Fae. Desperate, Geralt took a risky path: a spell that would turn Jaskier human.

When Jaskier awoke, he was horrified by his transformation. Stripped of his Fae nature, he felt an aching disconnect from the world. No matter how often he asked why they’d done this to him, Geralt could never seem to find an answer that would satisfy him.
