cats being capable of understanding accidents and even giving you a little head bonk to let you know you're still cool makes it infinitely funnier that they don't understand when you're trying to help them
cats when you step on their tail: i'll admit that was rather ouchie, but given the lifetime of goodwill and trust between us, one must conclude this booboo is but a fluke.
cats when you try to get their claws unstuck from the couch covering: this nefarious bitch has never had a single honorable intention in their dishonest and shameful life, this must be one of their sinister plots or perhaps even an attempt on my life,

Raphaela at Tiny Town

Raphaela and I just got home from a week spent in central Colorado. One of our favorite places we visited was Tiny Town, outside of Denver. It's a miniature village and train that has been entertaining children for 110 years.

The park features beautifully crafted doll-sized houses and buildings. Most of them are designed where you can peek inside and see the dolls within living their tiny lives.

You can walk around at your own pace, or ride the little train around the town and over a bridge. Over the years, it has never stopped expanding as new buildings continue to be added right alongside the original structures.

I first heard about this place from someone here on Tumblr, but I can't remember who it was..... so whoever you are, thank you! At the time I thought it looked like fun, so I added it to the destination list. I think even if I were here without a doll, I'd still have enjoyed it, because it really is for everybody! I saw plenty of adults there without kids, just appreciating the exhibits. So don't be shy about visiting if you're by yourself, or just with a doll.

Everything is scaled a bit closer to Barbie size, so a little bit small for Raphaela. But she sure looked cute next to the houses and businesses. Some of them have empty interiors and rear entrances, so children (and dolls) can go inside.

The jail house was a favorite. I sent Raphaela to dolly jail for the crime of being just a bit too adorable without a license.

The church was also open on the inside. Look at the beautiful stained glass windows.

We loved the re-creation of the house in the iconic painting, American Gothic.

Also, check out Raphaela's shirt! It's from the American Girl Place location in Denver, a store we lost to the pandemic.

This cute little Alpine chalet made me want one of my own in my yard for my dolls. It's sized a little bit bigger than the rest of the buildings, so children can go inside. I thought it was sized perfectly for Raphaela.

Behind the cut, I've got a whole lot more pictures of individual buildings (including a miniature version of The Addams family house), so take a look if you like what you see here.

And my favorite, the interior of the library. Can you even believe this is 1/6 scale?

time for an update on chuck’s arcade…
the mall locations have started to open (with minimal theming, as expected)
youtube
however there’s been an interesting new development:
cec is launching a spin-off of a spin-off, repurposing one of it’s more unique locations (a former small-format peter piper pizza test store) into “chuck’s arcade and pizzeria”, a brand new restaurant concept similar to the proposed “retro” store from last year’s fan survey.

from what I understand, this test location will feature vintage wall art and artifacts from cec’s topeka warehouse, like this slightly unnerving taxidermy pasqually preserved in glass (cec has been hinting that it has a plan for it’s salvaged animatronics for a while now, I guess this is it)

here are some pics of the store from when it was a standard cec. kinda cool looking and more inviting than the current 2.0 locations, in my opinion. maybe they could use those tvs to loop vintage showtape clips and content…

what do you guys think?
#the pasqually is something! :o#but the state line one sounds cool! :D#it'll work better than the tiny cec! ;)

The Pixie Hollow fairies as humans and what kind of careers I think they might have.
Tink would be a blacksmith or metal worker. She has her favorite apron that has a few tears and burns on it.
Fawn would be a conservation advocate who volunteers at a wildlife rescue.
Rosetta would own a flower shop. She has a massive garden at home and seems to be able to grow anything.
Iridessa is a light tech for a performance hall. She has a natural knack for perfect placement and effects.
Silvermist works for the water treatment plant. She mainly works in the office and knows everything about everything that has to do with keeping the city water clean.
Feel free to tell me what you think they would do! There's a lot of possibilities of careers they would fit into.
