April bird update
Loughborough park birds
Lesser black backed gull: flies by occasionally but not often.
Wood pigeon: they are making their iconic and nostalgic sounding cooing noise that i used to think was an owl hooting which is nice but haven't seen them as much.
Great tit: same as usual very common very loud.
Blue tit: hard to spot but ever present.
Wren: becoming very vocal and seeing them more often
Song thrush: every morning and late evening they appear.
Red wing: gone from super common so almost entirely absent from the park.
Eurasian black cap: almost as common as the blue tits which isn't super common like the robin or great tit but i am seeing and hearing them more often
Tawny owl: i thought it was a glitch on merlin bird i.d but it was detected three times in one morning??? No sight or sound of one since though.
Black bird: we have baby black birds! :D
Crow: some days they hang around the field like, section of the park and fly around but they arent nesting in the park but still frequent.
Magpies: we have baby magpies!
Collared dove: a pair have officially settled down and are nesting in the park and can often be seen between the volleyball court and recreation centre. They look beautiful and healthy!
Robin: I'm spotting them less but still hearing them frequently otherwise no updates.
Great spotted woodpecker: becoming more and more frequent but unsure if they are nesting here or not.
Jackdaw: appeared on merlin bird i.d once. i believe it is a mistake. I have never seen a jackdaw in brixton.
Pheasant: a weird one picked up by merlin bird i.d but one has been seen in the area before and it has been suspected someone locally owns them but then wouldn't we hear them more? Or wouldn't they appear more on merlin?
Gold finch: seen them a few times still a little rare but not as much as they used to be.
Dunnock: quite common, was surprised but they are now a regular at the park i see and hear them nearly every time i go out.
Chiffchaff: was likely passing by only seen and heard once.
Coal tit: only detected by merlin once.
Herring gull: occasionally seen flying over head but they aren't stopping by like they have done in previous years.
Sparrow: very rare now, still semi-regularly seen or heard but not nearly as often as they used to be.
Mistle thrush: detected on merlin once.
Parakeet: still regulars, don't appear to be nesting here and seeing them less than i used to but there's at least ten in the park every day.
Feral pigeons: not really in the park that much these days rather outside and around it. Occasionally a group of 2 or 4 come in and one day we had a proper flock but they prefer the more urban areas it seems.
Jays: sadly the pair we had nesting here have finally moved on an left the park.
Honourable mention: Bats have returned finally!!!!!

Feral pigeons: the albino pigeons have declined, overall they seem more high energy and active
Wren: thanks to merlin bird i.d i can now hear they are doing great
Magpies: nesting and still doing great though the population boom has stopped
Crows: visiting the park less sadly
Jays: they have nested in the park! They haven't done that before!!!
Black headed gulls: gone
Parakeets: nesting in the park
Gold finches: they have returned!!!!!!!!
Sparrows: here but very uncommon
Starlings: they passed through!!!! It was just for a day and I haven't seen them since but it was crazy I don't think I have ever seen them here before
Red wings: i almost never see them except for afternoons. Merlin bird i.d picks them up a bunch can't tell if they are nesting here or passing through.
Great spotted woodpecker: back and visiting regularly
