This Blog Is Unrepentantly Pro- AO3!
This blogger remembers when we didn’t have AO3.
This blogger remembers when we had to put disclaimers at the head of our fics and pray that someone didn’t take it into their heads to sue us for what we created.
This blogger remembers brilliant artists and writers getting decades of work obliterated on LJ because someone who wanted to tell people what they were allowed to create went running to someone who wanted a profit, and told them the artists and writers had been naughty.
This blogger remembers just how hard the creators of AO3 worked to build the thing we all seem to take for granted now.
This blogger watched friends dive into the creation process so heartily and determinedly that they all but disappeared from the writing/gaming/artistic side of their fandom for YEARS while they worked to make the archive happen.
This blogger remembers the sense of giddy wonder that there would possibly be LAWYERS involved, willing to defend our right to create these works, and not leave us hanging at the mercy of corporate legal teams.
This blogger is aware that she reads between twenty to fifty books’ worth of material every year on AO3, and is never REQUIRED to pay a penny for the privilege of getting access.
This blogger is aware that she will not ever see advertisements on AO3, and that her personal data and reading preferences won’t be sold to advertisers in order to raise the money that AO3 needs to pay for the services they provide.
This blogger is aware that AO3 is, and has always been, a labor of love; by fans, for fans, and not for profiting off fans – and this is what makes it unique in the whole of the media universe.
This blogger has NEVER taken AO3 for granted, and has ALWAYS been damned glad to have access to it.  Even in years when this blogger didn’t have the means to support it financially.

A trio of lady misfits taking on society by storm.
Luna Lovegood, the only daughter of a country squire. Gently bred and a country lady at heart. Highly intelligent but usually underestimated bc of her gentle demeanor. Wishes nothing but to own a farm for her animals and live her life as a spinster. Except Theodore Nott sees her across the ballroom and decides he must have her.
Lady Pansy Parkinson is judgmental and snobbish, everything a high society lady is expected to be. Except that no gentleman is offering for her because of her family’s dire financial straits and horrible reputation. Then she meets Sir Neville, a kind baron who prefers his country greenhouse to London, and learns not everything is about rank and influence. Hermione Granger is a societal menace. The crazy lady handing out Women’s Rights pamphlets in the middle of Piccadilly and Bond street? It’s her. A gentle woman by blood but a bluestocking through and through. Her goal in life? Confront and convince the Earl of Wiltshire, Draco Malfoy, one of the most influential peers in the realm, to represent her cause in the parliament. I’m in an HR mood so here’s a Victorian AU for these girlies.

i'm begging you guys to start pirating shit from streaming platforms. there are so many websites where you can stream that shit for free, here's a quick HOW TO:
1) Search for: watch TITLE OF WORK free online
Tumblr media
2) Scroll to the bottom of results. Click any of the "Complaint" links
Tumblr media
3) You will be taken to a long list of links that were removed for copyright infringement. Use the 'find' function to search for the name of the show/movie you were originally searching for. You will get something like this (specifics removed because if you love an illegal streaming site you don't post its url on social media)
Tumblr media
4) each of these links is to a website where you can stream shit for free. go to the individual websites and search for your show/movie. you might have to copy-paste a few before you find exactly what you're looking, but the whole process only takes a minute. the speed/quality is usually the same as on netflix/whatever, and they even have subtitles! (make sure to use an adblocker though, these sites are funded by annoying popups)
In conclusion, if you do this often enough you will start recognizing the most dependable websites, and you can just bookmark those instead. (note: this is completely separate from torrenting, which is also a beautiful thing but requires different software and a vpn)
you can also download the media in question (look for a "download" button built into the video window, or use a browser extension such as Video DownloadHelper.)

Robot characters who are given names like SL-308-62 but instead of their human friend going Well let's call you Sally for short, they instead ask the other if they Like their current name.
"Do you like your serial number?" they ask. "Yes, quite. It reminds me of who I am" the robot replies. "I have heard others like me go by different names after some time, and maybe one day I'll choose one for myself, too. But right now that is my full name, yes" they continue.
Because it's not your decision to make whether or not the robot will receive a new name. It should be theirs only. What's the difference? One is more complex and the other is simplified. They were both given by strangers instead of themselves.
"62 will do," they conclude. "It's my model number - there will be no other 62 after me."

no because katniss says “The way she almost stopped living when he [her father] died” about her mother and then said “They can pump whatever they want into my arm, but it takes more than that to keep a person going once she's lost the will to live” when peeta got taken by the capitol and i’m supposed to just be okay with that?

No you don’t understand, the fact that Katniss cannot FATHOM the idea of Peeta actually having a crush on her and immediately accuses him of lying is  funny but soo accurate to their characters.
Katniss is literally only focused on her family’s survival in District 12 after the loss of her father. She steps up as the family’s main provider when her mother succumbs to grief becoming unable to properly take care of herself or her kids. Katniss probably paid 0 attention to her classmates, or really school in general, instead focusing on where/how she’d get her next meal. She absolutely has zero awareness of boys, she is solely focused on making sure her sister is provided for. Gale is like a brother to her and she only thinks about marrying him cause its literally just another way to survive (reference to the quote about possibly marrying him and having kids). Like half of their interactions are when they are hunting for game to eat or sell, she does not have time or energy for bs flirting. Of course Katniss would assume anyone who said they liked her is lying, she never tried to warrant any attention.
Peeta on the other hand, has an abusive mother, a seemingly distant father, and shitty siblings. The boy is a smooth talker, probably due to constantly having to be in tune with his family’s emotions. He has built a mask of the smooth, charming boy in class. But you KNOW that creative boy was sitting in class, creating fantasies about approaching Katniss, the quiet girl who does not give a shit about classroom dynamics. You cannot convince me that he did not notice Katniss’s love and dedication towards her sister. We know that boy was WEAK for connection and the strongest connection of love he’s witnessed is between Prim and Katniss. How can be NOT be attracted to her?? Katniss is always herself and loved for it, Peeta must act a part to get attention/praise/care.
Their entire arc so satisfying yet heartbreaking and I am going to babble about it until I die.

Suzanne collins is a certified GENIUS because by making most of the book about the PUBLICITY of the rebellion and not the fight itself, she was telling us that wars are won by who persuades more- who controls the narrative .
