have you ever considered an animorphs "roleswap au"? for lack of a better word. essentially just... what if, instead of marco's mom being visser one, it was cassie's mom? or instead of tobias becoming a nothlit, maybe it was rachel instead?? things like that, lol i know it's kind of vague but i've been thinking about different animorphs backstory configurations all day thinking about what might be the most interesting to explore
I did do one AU where Jake, not Tobias, becomes a nothlit.  And one AU where Marco, not Rachel, gets split in half as a starfish.  You could probably also count that AU where Tobias’s rather than Cassie’s place ends up becoming the home base for the whole team.
But also I agree that there’s something fundamentally fascinating about the idea of what makes characters themselves, and that messing around with backstories is always a great opportunity for characterization.
I saw a conference presentation one time that made the argument that fan fiction which alters a facet of a known character’s identity is inherently about what it really means to have a that identity.  Gender-bent fic demands a definition of gender, and grapples with questions at the core of what gender is.
To use the original author’s example, if Tony Stark is instead Antonia Stark, what does that change and what does it not change?  Does this version of the character still use the hyper-masculine name of Iron Man, reflecting the trend of non-men pretending to be male in anonymized spaces (e.g. web forums) to avoid sexism?  Does this version use a feminized version such as Iron Maiden or Iron Woman, and to what extent does that suggest canonical Iron Man is fundamentally male?  How does Antonia Stark’s relationship with the press differ from that of her male counterpart, especially if she remains a sex symbol in this AU?  Would she even become CEO of a tech company if she was female, or would she be shut out of the field the way that a majority of women in STEM eventually are?  Would she still be talked about as “the smartest person alive,” or would she instead have to endure condescending comments about how nice it is to see a woman in engineering for a change?  Either way, what does that say about our cultural standards for intelligence, for excellence, and for meritocracy?  Where do sexuality and gender diverge, and what does that mean for Antonia’s possible romance with Pepper?  Where do gender and sex diverge, and is the fic more or less close to canon if Antonia is still assigned male at birth?  So on and so forth.
And just by writing a story in which Antonia Stark walks into a room and drinks a cup of coffee, the writer must answer all of these questions even if they don’t consciously intend to do so.  The author’s fundamental worldviews about gender always come out whether they like it or not, the instant they so much as tell us what Antonia’s job and relationship status and nom de guerre happen to be in this universe.

“Hair on this movie was one of the biggest challenges, but also the most fun. Considering many of the main characters in this movie are human, or are demigods who frequently resemble humans, there’s a lot of hair to animate. Moana herself is unlike a lot of other Disney characters. Like Mulan, she’s often messing with her hair, sometimes wearing it in a bun and sometimes allowing it to get drenched or blow in the wind. That’s a lot of different types of hair to animate, too, making the process even more challenging.”
— CARLOS CABRAL, head of technical animation for MOANA (2016)

Aadya i am very confused and I don't know what to do??? Maybe you can help give me some advice
So my friend (i am out only to her) knows that i am bisexual. So there was a chapter in one of our books that our teachers didn't teach us in school. So we read it, it was about maturing in mind and body. There was a line written in it, "it is normal to be curious and explore your sexuality". So she said that they shouldn't say this because we're too young to think about it right now as it can mess with our minds (we are 8th graders, about to be in 9th). I asked her what did she mean. She said that when someone learns about the lgbtq community they start exploring and then are pressured to think and become someone that they are not. Then it takes a lot of pain and effort to realize that you are not one of them.
These were her exact words ??? I don't know what to do. This sounds very homophobic to me. I don't know if i should say anything to her or not.. after she said this i just dropped the conversation and told her i had to go and study for the exams. Even if i confronted her, i won't know what to say...
hey nonnie
so listen, youre pretty close to your friend (as it seems) and i know how it feels when someone that close to you says negative shit about things that mean so much to you. im very sorry that you have to go through that.
shes an 8th grader, much like you, so im guessing you both are like 13 or 14, and people are dumb at this age. i was. still am. you prolly are.
she has some maturing to do because honestly, whatever she says doesnt seem genuine to me. and even if it is, its just absolutely impassive of her to say something like that to you, who is bi and closeted to everyone but her.
by saying that, she not only disrespects the community but also shows coldness towards you.
im not tryna provoke you, but there is a possibility she thinks of you in the same way as she said. and heres an advice: do not stay with people who seem homophobic.
BUT THEN AGAIN, shes 13-14, kids are dumb, shes a kid, and shes got maturing to do.
so i suggest you to talk to her about this. and confront her about whatever she meant and tell her shes wrong wherever you feel like it.
if she understands, then well and good, and if it turns out that shes not willing to change her thought process, i'd advice you to distance yourself to an extent.
[if you feel like she might threaten or reveal your sexuality to others or if she might hurt you in any way please dont go for it. your surrounding might be homophobic and things may turn super gross. your safety matters the most.]
see, your sexuality is something that only you get to bother about. and that goes for everyone. she, as a cishet person (a girl can assume), should not have an opinion over it unless its something positive.
also, her opinion over "exploring sexuality" doesnt do shit, because kids like me who have never read anything positive about different sexualities in academic papers, question it anyway. a line in a textbook doesn't do much to you being queer. people come to terms with it at their own pace and shes absolutely no one to question their pace.
and she, as a cishet person (im assuming. cishets are the usual dum dums) doesnt understand that.
had whatever she said been the case, then it should work the other way around too. the media and society pushes queer kids into thinking they're not queer. and that sucks WAYYY more than realising that a sexuality label isnt working for you.
thats it. thats all ive got. its 1:36am as im writing this, i hope youre good. best of luck.

It’s a common illegal pastime for young aliens to speak into a human’s mind, and make them think a god is talking to them. Your friends have all had fun doing this without repercussion. However, seeing what your actions have lead Jeanne d'Arc to, you’re pretty traumatized.

“We want women to be able to come in and feel completely relaxed,” ~ Quhshi said.
Quhshi also noted that while Le’Jemalik was created with Muslims in mind, “women of all faiths, races, and ethnicities” are welcome.

Why are some Holsteins more white than black? Is there anything different about them or is it just a coat pattern?
Variations in the spotting gene. There’s two different variations, one which codes for more spotting (because a mostly white Holstein is a Holstein that basically has huge spots), one which codes for little spotting/mostly black. It’s incompletely dominant so if you get Ss (one of each allele) you get something like Beas. Most cow breeds have the little spotting variation which is why you rarely see Holstein crosses with the spot patterns of pure Holsteins.
