i never realized cuneiform was made with the corner of a cuboid tool, i thought the wedge shapes were carved such that you would press straight down with the tool at a 90° angle to the clay

i’m sure this has been said before in a hundred different ways, but i love buying used books and bringing them home and cracking them open only to see they’ve been written in and marked up, the margins filled with notes and certain phrases and passages underlined. it makes me feel dizzy because i’m seeing straight into someone’s mind in a messy way. it makes me fall a little bit in love with this person i’ve never met, seeing what they thought was important enough to jot down and underline, like hearing someone muttering under their breath as they think, brow furrowed and completely focused on what’s in front of them and ignoring their surroundings. it makes me feel a little less alone, too
