"Good choice. Leaner meat absorbs the flavors better." Chop chop chop. Well, at least Monika seems like she's got some thoughts on cooking, so a "low class" meal should still be plenty tasty. And probably pleasantly heated!
"Hmmm, chicken, I suppose?" Duly noted on the masochism thing. That was a good sign, by her metric. She watched Monika cook in the mean time, twirling the several thoughts regarding this strange, green-eyed woman in her head.

âA swâ what the hell does your husband do???â
"What did I say, last time? 'Independently wealthy'? He's kind of a mercenary, but, like, fantasy book type."

âSounds like your husband is pretty badass. Never wouldâve guessed he could fightâ

âNo way, Darwin punched him!?â
"Wool barely gave him the chance to throw. One shot, and he went down like a sack of potatoes."

âIâm gonna take a wild guess and say he tried insulting your spouses like that would workâ
"He said some garbage about Wool being a twink, which IS true, but unfortunately he also knows how to throw and take a punch."

âIt is a WONDER he hasnât been reported for stalkingâ

âHe tried his luck with you too?â
"Oh, good god, he was hounding me for MONTHS after he found out I worked at he library. I literally had to string him up in public to get him to stop."

âDescribe himâ
Monika proceeds to give a short, detailed description of the man she last saw dangling from vines she conjured to get him to leave her alone.

"...Oh my god, please tell me it's not that one jackass from debate club."

âApparently, Morgan disagreed. She complained about coming home exhausted and getting annoyed when he showed her something he built. I think sheâs being mean over something that couldâve been solved pretty easily if she just communicated, but it isnât my business, so I keep quietâ
"Communication is the root of a healthy relationship, be it romantic or anything else."

âSo, this woman, her name is Morgan, no relation to your Morgan, has been talking about her husband for a long time, equal parts complaining and praising. Says heâs really sweet but really obsessed with his hobbies, he likes building Legosâ
"Sounds like a fun guy, I'd love to see what he's built." Monika nods, sipping her coffee.
