Juan, un joven que trabaja en el sector audiovisual, se traslada de Nueva York a la Ciudad de México tras sufrir un gran desamor. Su vida práctica se resuelve enseguida, pero sus emociones continúan ancladas en el pasado. Las relaciones que entabla con Nombre de Hijo (quien cambió su verdadero nombre por el de su hijo, que nunca llegó a tener nombre), Darío Cebra (joven que hizo de caminar sin rumbo su camino verdadero) y Mateo Sarsil (cineasta de métodos muy poco ortodoxos) acompañan e influyen a Juan hasta que logra aterrizar en su presente y protagonizarlo.

Apoyada en una prosa versátil (en ocasiones lírica, en otras directa e irreverente, en otras reflexiva), la novela se entrega a cada situación y al cruce de voces para construir un relato existencial, en el que la ficción del rodaje cinematográfico se convierte en la metáfora de una realidad más trascendente.
