focus stacking
Combine the separate images into one multi-layered image. See Duplicate layers.
Note:An image stack must contain at least two layers.
You can also combine images using a script (File > Scripts > Load Files into Stack).
Choose Select > All Layers.
Note:To make the Background layer selectable with the All Layers command, you must first convert it to a regular layer.Choose Edit > Auto-Align Layers and select Auto as the alignment option. If Auto does not create good registration of your layers, try the Reposition option.
Choose Layer > Smart Objects > Convert to Smart Object.
Choose Layer > Smart Objects > Stack Mode and select a stack mode from the submenu.
For noise reduction, use the Mean or Median plug‑ins.
For removing objects from the image, use the Median plug‑in.
The output is a composite image the same size as the original image stack. You may need to experiment with different plug‑ins to get the best enhancement for a particular image.
To change the rendering effect, choose a different Stack Mode from the submenu. Stack rendering is not cumulative—each render effect operates on the original image data in the stack and replaces previous effects.
https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/image-stacks.html
Focus stacking  is a digital image processing technique which combines multiple images taken at different focus distances to give a resulting image with a greater depth of field (DOF) than any of the individual source images. Focus stacking can be used in any situation where individual images have a very shallow depth of field.
Technique: the starting point for focus stacking is a series of images captured at different focal depths; in each image different areas of the sample will be in focus. While none of these images has the sample entirely in focus they collectively contain all the data required to generate an image which has all parts of the sample in focus. In-focus regions of each image may be detected automatically, for example via edge detection or Fourier analysis, or selected manually. The in-focus patches are then blended together to generate the final image. This processing is also called z-stacking, focal plane merging. Example procedure performed with free Software Combine ZPIn
photography: Getting sufficient depth of field can be particularly challenging in macro photography, because depth of field is smaller (shallower) for objects nearer the camera, so if a small object fills the frame, it is often so close that its entire depth cannot be in focus at once. Depth of field is normally increased by stopping down aperture (using a larger f-number), but beyond a certain point, stopping down causes blurring due to diffraction, which counteracts the benefit of being in focus. Focus stacking allows the depth of field of images taken at the sharpest aperture to be effectively increased. The images at right illustrate the increase in DOF that can be achieved by combining multiple exposures.

Poem
Love by Rupert Brooke
Love is a breach in the walls, a broken gate, Where that comes in that shall not go again; Love sells the proud heart's citadel to Fate. They have known shame, who love unloved.  Even then, When two mouths, thirsty each for each, find slaking, And agony's forgot, and hushed the crying Of credulous hearts, in heaven — such are but taking Their own poor dreams within their arms, and lying Each in his lonely night, each with a ghost. Some share that night.  But they know love grows colder, Grows false and dull, that was sweet lies at most. Astonishment is no more in hand or shoulder, But darkens, and dies out from kiss to kiss. All this is love; and all love is but this
the theme is love and lust and how to have one you have the other and shows you how love is. the atmosphere and tone is very upbeat.

William kass inspiration
Tumblr media Tumblr media
William uses small sized dolls next to life size/real size objects like cans paint brushes and pill bottles. He makes it like a real picture where they are going through a car was or taking a bath but the people are little.
These gave me ideas to do people smaller than they really are. Somewhat like an optical illusion. So they would  be far away or at a different angle to the camera.

screen printing
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDDE8VvViFo
You’ll need a screen and squeegee to start.
Also, some photo emulsion for screen printing.
Add water to the sensitizer, then mix it with the emulsion.
Mix thoroughly until it’s an even green color.
Pour just a small amount onto the screen.
Use the squeegee to spread it evenly on both sides of the screen.  Try to get even and full coverage by alternating directions and sides.
Dry the emulsion in front of a fan and IN THE DARK.
After it’s dry, quickly lay your artwork, backwards, on the back of the screen.  You can print your art on transparencies at most office supplies stores or copy centers.
Tape the art in place, then lay on a piece of glass to hold it against the screen.
Apply a very bright light for 30-45 minutes.
You can also use sunlight, but the time may vary depending on cloud cover and placement.
The areas covered by your art do not get exposed when you remove the transparency.
Use a light spray and soft toothbrush to wash out the unexposed emulsion.
Be careful not to use too much force when spraying it out or you will remove emulsion around your design as well.
Use painters tape to mask any areas that you don’t want to print yet, or areas where the emulsion isn’t intact.
Layout your shirt on smooth, flat surface and remove wrinkles.
Place your design where you want it to be printed.
Lay a thick bead of ink above the art, extended past both ends. Be sure to add extra ink above large areas to be printed.
Even though I’m working alone here, you’ll have better luck to have someone hold your screen, then use two hands to evenly pull the squeegee fully across your screen.
Remove the screen and wash out all of the ink before it dries.   After the ink dries, run your shirt through a clothes dryer for 5 minutes to heat set the print.
The screens can be reused by cleaning them with emulsion remover.
Spread a small amount across both sides of the screen.
Then use a hose to wash out the emulsion until the screen is clean. Dark inks will stain the material of the screen, but this will not affect future prints. Just make sure to remove all of the emulsion.

Screen Printing Ink (white)
Squeegee (multiple sizes)
Aluminum Screen (20″x24″)

Six Color Manual Press – With a six color machine you can print most anything.
Conveyor Dryer – Required for any real production, and air flow is a plus.
Flash Dryer – A must if you’re printing on dark garments. Buy basic. Extra bells and whistles won't matter here. ON and OFF are all the controls you'll need.
Exposure Unit – Pinpoint light source is best, but the sun will work on a budget.
Washout Sink – You can buy something professionally made or improvise.
Power Washer – Used for reclaiming screens for reuse.
Heat Press – Optional but necessary if you plan to do any team printing.
Film Output Device – An Epson inkjet printer and RIP software is the package of choice for creating your film positives. Don't overbuy. Most printers rarely use more than a 13" wide film, so an inexpensive device like the Epson 1430 will do the job.
Screens – Wood frames are fine, and you should buy them pre-stretched.
12 -156 mesh – general printing
6 – 230 mesh – fine line
6 – 87 mesh – puff and athletic
Others as needed. You’ll want to end up with enough screens for several days production.
Squeegees – You’ll need them to be a minimum of 1” smaller on each side than the inside dimension of your screens.
6 approximately 15” with medium durometer blades
6 approximately 5” with medium durometer blades for left-chest designs
Others as needed – purchased by the inch
Inks – Buy a starter mixing system that allows you to mix any color, plus white, black and any common colors such as for local schools.
Scale – Necessary for weighing inks in mixing system.
Quart Containers – For use in mixing ink colors.
Spotting Gun – For cleaning plastisol drips, drops and fingerprints from printed garments. Requires spotting gun solution as well.
Curable Reducer – This product is used for thinning your inks.
Emulsion – A dual cure emulsion is the most forgiving and easiest to work with.
Scoop Coater – Used to coat emulsion onto your screens. At least 1” clearance required on each side from the inside dimension of your screen.
Emulsion Remover – Chemical used for degrading emulsion for screen reclaim.
Degreaser – Chemical for cleaning screens prior to coating with emulsion.
Ink Degrader – Chemical used to clean ink from screens after use.
Brushes – Soft bristle brushes (and separate) used for 1) Ink Degrader, 2) Emulsion Remover, and 3) Degreaser.
3” Tape and Tape Gun – For taping the inside of your screens before printing.
Temperature Tapes – These will help you determine actual dryer temperature.
Spray Adhesive – Low tack adhesive used to hold garments in place during printing. Comes in web or mist spray.
The Wish List
Retensionable Frames – After use, screen mesh will lose tension. Retensionable Frames allow you to tighten mesh after each use.
Safety Kleen Part Washer – Most larger shops use Safety Kleen part washer tanks to clean their squeegees and spatulas.
Tension Meter – This device when placed on a screen will tell you the tension of that screen, measured in Newtons.
Jacket Hold Down – Jacket printing requires the jacket be held firmly in place during printing with this printer attachment. Also you’ll need a plastisol ink additive such as Union Ink’s Nylobond.
Vacuum Platen – Another printer attachment, the vacuum platen holds flat stock products in place during printing. Required for printing transfers and bumper stickers.

W Eugene Smith VS Henri Cartier-Bresson
W Eugene smith is more objective in his documentary photography work. he shows more what is really happening without using extra posing to create more feelings. the image bellow is just a general posed image showing what was happening.
Tumblr media
Henri Cartier- Bresson is more subjective due to the way he poses the people. this image was extremely creative and came from the mind to give a lot of emotion. it shows what people thin was happening more than what was really happening.
Tumblr media
in smiths work he represents the essence in its self as it says in the definition. it used real like events and documents them as they are. the decisive moment is spontaneous and captures unique images
+The decisive moment is a concept made popular by the street photographer, photojournalist, and Magnum co-founder Henri Cartier-Bresson. The decisive moment refers to capturing an event that is ephemeral and spontaneous, where the image represents the essence of the event itself.+
both of the photographers documented the work in different styles but they impacted similarly. the photographers aesthetic were different in a way they they moved peoples emotions in different ways.

Photo Essay Final
i plan on shooting the life of homeless people in Tulsa. i plan on doing to different places that help the homeless like the day center goodwill and john3:16. i am going to interview people who work there and also people who are homeless. i plan on doing images in black in white because to me that would represent more tragedy than a colored image would. this week alone i will be emailing or calling places and setting up interviews at different places and also looking up several more black and white photoessays to get ideas of how i would like mine to look. The issue is people not having homes and not having food, in the past it has been this way and is currently still happening everyday.

Photo Essay W. Eugene Smith
a photo essay is an essay or short article consisting of text and numerous photographs. it is made to create emotions in the viewer. w eugene smith began his career by taking pictures for the local news paper in  wichita Kansas. he moved to NYC and started shooting for a company but got fired because he wanted to used a 35mm not a medium format camera. smith was famous for his WWII images and being the “creator” of photo journalism. He recorded peoples lives, the thought people doing hard work was nobel and wanted to document it in a public way which was photo journalism. while shooting for life magazine on a spread about WWII he got injured and spent 2 years recovering. Smith also represented many people who got injured either by war or something that happened by wide spread violence. He wanted to get a reaction out of people and thats what he did. he took something known and made it more known by giving a visual image to create emotions.

Noumena review
the day i presented my noumena project i was worried because even though i did all the research and shot my images i was still very confused on what noumena was. I’m glad i got to present my project because there were many images i really liked from my project and that i wanted people to see but when i could not get the words out on how i interpreted it i got frustrated. this made me learn that if you cant tell someone what you think of something you need to do more research and get a better understanding on what it is i was doing. although i believe i should have done better and could have done better i am proud that i got up and attempted to teach  class something i found interesting.

this is from the drafting for the Vietnam war. soldiers did not want to fight the war because they were vulnerable and treated horrible by their own people. in 1967 over 50000 people protested around the pentagon. soldiers had just got out of the cold war and then were told they were being drafted to the vietnam war. they wanted support and supplies but they did not recieve it. eisenhower as a former soldier refused to commit to make the boys go to war.
