isaiah-cooke‌:
As soon as he got out of the door, Isaiah caught sight of the man he intended to follow a couple of meters awat. But something wasn’t right. He was supposed to return the papers the man left behind but his gut told him to hold off giving them back for a while.
Isaiah has learned a lot of things from silently observing people from afar ever since he was a child. Particularly, he got very good at reading people’s body language. The other man he was in pursuit of seemed rattled. That was clear to Isaiah by the way he gathered his things haphazardly and how he walked out of the room hurriedly. He was distraught and distracted which made Isaiah wonder, What is he up to?  The other man was possibly paranoid too. That would mean that he might be wary of people who saw him run out of Nap Nooks trying to follow him and Isaiah would have to pretend that he wasn’t on to him.
Fortunately, he got very good at conveying what he wanted through his own body language too. There’s a way to throw off people who suspect that you are watching them. Looking away the instant people caught you watching them never works. Isaiah learned that the only thing that does is paint you guilty. What he does is make his gaze unfocused and keep it on the same general direction even if the person moves. That way, it’ll look like what he was watching was beyond them or that he was only daydreaming. Other ways include never watching them with a steady head. Isaiah would try to catch glimpses of them in the middle of turning his head, seemingly looking at something else past the person he was actually looking at. And he had to do it with purpose. To some, an idle person looking around can be more suspicious than a person who looks like they’re about to do something that isn’t involved in them.
Convincing someone that you weren’t following them however wasn’t something he has a lot of experience in, but Isaiah figured that the same rules applied. Just in case the mystery man was on to him, Isaiah made a show stopping to redo the tie on his shoelace. Letting muscle memory do all the work, he untied his laces before tying it again, keeping his gaze down, unfocused, so that he can roughly see the man in his peripheral vision. Hopefully, that will convince the other man that Isaiah wasn’t on his trail or if not, give him enough confidence that he can walk ahead and lose Isaiah. Once he was done, Isaiah continued to follow him, albeit not in a straight line and with a different pace to further hide his intention. But it was enough to see where the mystery man was off to next.
With his back now towards where he’d been, to his knowledge, and away from whoever that was that had come out behind him Bryx could breath slightly. It wasn’t completely okay and he sure as hell didn’t have any answers for what had thrown him so out of whack. All he did know was he was grateful it wasn’t worse. And that he hadn’t had some kind of nose bleed or uncomfortable fit. Haven’t had one of those in a long time. Certainly did not want to be repeating that sort of incident again. The faster his feet moved the more relief seemed to come to the Puff but he couldn’t stop the wondering about what exactly had gone wrong to leave him like that. It was probably stupid of him to think that emerging himself into a brand new scenery and expecting everything to be right as rain was ill-educated. And just idiotic to say the least.
Bryx stepped out of the way each time he drifted over too far into the next person. It’d been a long while since he’d ever felt that off balance. Though it did seem to be getting better it still wasn’t fast enough. He’d chalk that up to his entire family’s inability to wait for anything really. The irony. As he drew in another breath Bryx felt himself allowing a look around. Nothing else seemed out of the ordinary. Perhaps that letter was just really getting to him. Who would break into his room to leave a prank like that? And for that matter even if it were a prank he didn’t know anyone here well enough for any one to do that. Seemed too elaborate for just a one off prank. His fingers squeezed the shoulder strap tighter and he’d thought perhaps he ought to ask about it. But who the hell would you even ask? How could he know for sure?
His head turned as if to peel himself from those thoughts but only to be tossed into some kind of feelings. Was that? Bryx squinted his eyes and he’d turned back around right. Was he being followed? Surely not. That was ludicrous to think so. Who would want to follow him? He’d shaken his head, his feet stepping up the pace by at least two fold. There was no way he was about to get snatched up and have only Merlin knew what done to him. Not today. His head pivoted slightly towards his back. Not that it’d actually help him in that moment. That’s the guy that came out after me. But was it? The half arsed glances didn’t allow him to check for sure but he kept his pace nonetheless. Should he even head back towards his dorm? What if they’d follow him that far? What about the rest of his dormmates?
Instead of taking the path from the main drag back towards the dorms, Bryx found himself continuing onwards. The destination unknown but at least he’d know for sure. If whoever that was behind him didn’t turn then he’d have to think of something and fast.

col-everett‌:
She was always the person that if they had the means, they’d treat the people that they cared about. Friends, family, whoever was close to her. She liked to do it so it was only natural. She paid for Bryx’s ticket as her own way of saying ‘Thank you’ for inviting her out and saving her from going crazy trying to memorize all the healing properties that different crystals had. It was enough to drive someone crazy so his text had come at the perfect moment to spare her insanity. “That would be a lot of empty seats we’d have to buy!” She gave a quiet laugh. “But I mean worth it for a table for snacks.” She joked and stepped behind Bryx, eyes taking in all the treats that lay there, muggle and wix alike.
Colee’s eyes met Bryx and she gave an almost sheepish shrug of her shoulders at the amount they were ordering. When you were in a munchie mood, you were in a munchie mood. “Could you put some extra nacho cheese on the side? I’ll also take a bag of gummy bears please!” She seemed to chirp with excitement as she had just went to reach for her own wallet when he beat her to it. She scrunched her face up at him but let her hand drop away instead. A fair trade between them and she appreciated it. “No thank you! I really needed to get away from my studying and see a friendly face!” Colee answered honestly and nodded in agreement. The party was busy, though the short time they’d spent together she’d appreciated greatly. He hadn’t needed to spend that time talking to her, listening to her ramble on about nonsense.
Tumblr media
She laughed at the face he was pulling and shook her head, “I can dig a bad movie! Like how bad are we talking? Like…like Deep Blue Sea bad? Now you can’t tell me that wasn’t a bad movie! Or are we at Sharknado levels of bad? Sharknado four levels?” Colee questioned and leaned against the counter as they awaited their snacks. She liked Bryx, their first meeting at the party had gone great in her opinion and she was excited to see if the two would end up being friends. With how the two seemed to ramble and share their odd jokes and love of snacks she was thinking it was a good possibility. “I mean I can handle super bad movies! I’ve watched the first three Sharknado’s so I’m pretty prepared.” She glanced over as the employee brought their snacks in two large boxes for them to easily carry to their movie theater.
She picked her box up and took a sip of her slushie before starting to head toward the Ticket collector, glancing up at Bryx. “Thanks again. I’m excited to dig into these snacks!” Handing her ticket to the collector they allowed access. She took another sip of her slushie and hummed with the taste. “I can’t wait for my tongue to turn blue from this slushie goodness.”
Colee was refreshening simply put. Upon going to the party initially he hadn’t thought he’d come back with anything, much less a friend. And it didn’t hurt that she seemed to be as sweet as he was told he was. Maybe that was just something he sought out in people because it was so familiar. Whatever the reason he was very grateful for her and this time. Even if it was just them watching a horrible movie and sharing snacks. There weren’t too many he’d found that could be simply satisfied with that.
To her little question of how bad the movie really was going to be well he’d just shrugged. “I mean I suppose that depends on your taste.” His teeth dug into his bottom lip to keep the smile from moving any further on his cheeks. “All I’m saying is to not have your expectations too. And we’ll rain check that ... what’d you call it?” He’d clicked his tongue and attempted to repeat the title she’d said. “Sharendo? Shapendous? Whatever it was we’ll have to save that for another time.”
Tumblr media
“You and me both.” He chimed cheerfully as they’d both given over their tickets and proceeded for the way of their movie. He stole a quick glance over at her, brow slightly tugged upwards. “I would say I’m surprised by you wanting a blue tongue.” A soft chuckle accompanied his words and he shook his head, balancing his own box into one hand so he could grab open the door to the correct door for the both of them. “Blue may be a good color for you.” He’d spoken faster than he realized and quickly cleared his throat as he’d stepped under the sign for Killer Klowns and swung it wide for the both of them.
His heel held the door and he’d taken just a second to see her. Snacks in hand, a slightly mischiveous smile on her lip and, from what he he could tell, she seemed happy. That was all he’d needed. “Now I’d suggest sitting right dead center but I have a feeling you’re about to prove me wrong on that account too. Right?”

damari-nnamani‌:
Damari was pleased to have some company on his run, even if he was slowing down to keep pace with the other male. It wasn’t as if he couldn’t do his running later. He’d been training hard the entire semester to keep up with the quidditch team so taking a break felt good and not like he was slacking. That was really all that mattered. The view and company were decidedly appreciated so he went with it.
“Hey, Bryx,” he shot back, “Nice to meet you,” he continued, his pulse slowing down and his heart starting to beat less rapidly in his chest. When the other male continued to speak, Damari took a better look at him, wondering if he’d seen him around the campus before today. Probably not if the lighter haired male thought this was late, not early. Not that there was anything wrong with that.
Damari gave the other male a friendly shrug before a bolt of laughter came out of his lips. “Did you seriously just say before noon chickens?” he asked, the laughter creeping into his eyes. “I think it’s just early bird,” he continued, “But before noon chickens is way better. Gotta hand it to you for that one.”
“Mmm, you got it. Has to be all sorts of grubs and insects out here enjoying the sunlight,” he joked back. “I’d make some joke about night owls, but I don’t even know what they eat besides like…frogs?” Owls hadn’t been a big thing back in Uganda and it was still taking time for him to get used to them swooping around everywhere here.
He rolled his shoulders back in a stretch as they walked along the trail. “Seriously though, if this is late for you, what are you doing out here?” he asked, his voice friendly. “Because I don’t know about you, but I might end up heading to Blue Brick for some coffee after this. Maybe you’d like to join me?” He gave the other male a short smile and continued his walk. “The Cuban coffee is damn good. And damn strong. If anything will make you a morning person, it’s that.”
Tumblr media
At least he was starting to find other students that were at least closer to his age. He’d enjoyed the younger acquaintances he’d made but it still sometimes felt like such a jump between them. Or that was just Bryx and there was nothing to really do about it. Whichever way it was, Damari at least seemed genuine. One could at least tell there was more on his mind than just the gossipy things running around campus. Or he was just over analyzing because why wouldn’t he. Whatever the case, the company was being very much enjoyed.
“Listen you’ve got to add a little bit of something to your vocabulary every now and then.” Bryx just smiled, doing his very best to keep from completely breaking into an absolute fit of laughter that early. “I’m also so inclined to inform you that we night owls do indeed like frogs. I on the other hand have developed a fascination for other amphibians as well. Turtles in fact.” He was going all too far with this but once he got on that tangant there really wasn’t any stopping him. “They just have this way about them. And who could possibly deny how sleek those shells are. I dont know about you but I personally have to applaud that they can just pull back in and they’re done.” The smile on his face approaching a dangerous width. “Built in little panic rooms. It’s just perfect.”
Bryx thought of what’d he’d say he was doing. There was just the truth, which was making a star chart. But he was also aware that not everyone appreciated or really cared for star constellations and looking into the cosmos for answers beyond themselves. “Coffee actually sounds marvelous.” It’d keep him up well past when he should have been but when was the last time he’d taken a chance on a happenstance situation? Colee, for sure, and while he always enjoyed her company, the thought of having a guy to hang out with wasn’t all that bad. “But to answer you I was actually trying my hand at a star chart. Done them before but never completely from scratch.” He’d spoke about it as if it weren’t a big deal. Truly it wasn’t but he wasn’t quite set on diving in full on Wenlock style about it just yet.
“So if this coffee is as strong as you’re claiming maybe I can actually finish the damn thing before I’ve got to rely on pulling out my own damn memories.” He was joking of course, he’d really do it if need be but as a last resort. It wasn’t a particularly wonderful process but that was neither here nor there. “And I’d offer to race there but I’m not embracing myself like that just yet. If I can help it.”

odd-ankot‌:
“Sour gummi’s are good, sometimes though I can’t handle them. The really sour ones and then the sugar that feels like sand paper just…tears up the roof of my mouth.” Odd couldn’t help the small smile as they continued to chat. “But I’ve had Swedish Fish! They’re good, one of my top candies.” She didn’t eat candies too much only for the fact that she was a healthier eater. Having been in Quidditch since her days at Beaubaxton and almost entering the big leagues had her strict on her diet even after her accident. She still kept the physical regime of a Quidditch player, just not as intense to spare her pain getting worse and worse. She didn’t think that was something needing to be talked about on the first meeting, but if it came up she wouldn’t hide. He didn’t seem the type that would pity her.
Odd raised an eyebrow and had a small half smile on her face at his seemingly confused tone. “From the questioning tone I’m guessing you have never had Funyuns?” She asked and took a sip of her water to wash down the taste of the pickles and spring rolls. “Basically Funnyuns are like…chips in the shape of onion rings and they taste like onions. Make your breath smell terrible but they’re delicious. A popular muggle snack.” She reached over and took a spring roll from the plate and took a bite. The food was going quick and that was a good sign that they’d be leaving soon and on their way to new adventures. She thought it would be a better match for the two than the overly pink and romantic Madam’s. “My sister showed them to me when she began to explore the muggle culture more closely. They’re honestly so delicious.”
Tumblr media
“Well diet wise I just don’t indulge much, and today is my cheat day. So I figured I’d treat myself with some pickles if possible and if my date was so willing as to allow it.” She winked at him before shaking her head, “No I just…have weird taste buds I guess so thank you for going along with it.” Odd laughed and finished off the spring roll she was eating. “Plus why not something healthy and something unhealthy all at once? Balance everything out, you know?” She teased him, reaching for one of the few lingering pickles left. “So…where do you think we should escape to once we have finished off these goodies?” She questioned with a tilt of her head, “I was thinking maybe…something fun.”
Odd took another sip of her drink and thought for a few moments, “…I don’t think the nightclub is either of our scene…unless I’m wrong?” She asked curiously before she thought of anything else the two could do. “There are two places…One is a Roller Derby rink and a bowling alley…which sounds better if either of them are even a possibility?” She asked with a smile. She was excited for the two to continue the night doing something they both enjoyed and having fun while doing so. A person could really know someone from that type of setting and she wanted to know him. She thought they were really connecting and it was a nice feeling.
Listening to her speak it hadn’t dawned on him just how much of the muggle world he’d really discounted. It wasn’t that he didn’t like it, just that he hadn’t really spent all the much time in it except perhaps the occasional movie and a snack and even a simple festival or concert. Perhaps he was a bit more naive than even he’d realized. Of course being back in school and showed him that it was true with people but he hadn’t realized it also included culture points, or a good majority of his classmates for that matter.
Bryx just smiled as she spoke. Her tone was calm and even with his disadvantage she never made him feel like he was any different. They simply had different life experiences and that seemed to be working out well so far. “I think that’s admirable. To have that sort of discipline I mean.” He spoke quickly, finding himself rather impressed. Calm down.
“Well unless you’re alright with picking my sorry arse up off the floor all night bowling seems like something I may not embarrass myself completely with.” Bryx flashed a broad smile and shook his head at the thought of it. Especially because well, while he wanted to leave a memorable impression, he wasn’t entirely sure that that would be the one he wanted her to recall. Though it could work in his favor. Couldn’t it? He hated how painfully awkward he had to make even the most simple of things.
Tumblr media
Though she hadn’t seemed all that bothered by him, at least not that he could tell. Though he was quite eager to get out of there with her. He’d enjoyed their little snack before and the little bit of conversation. If nothing else he just wanted to see how well they really got along. All signs were pointing to a green light but he’d just wanted to be sure. That family luck couldn’t always be applied to every situation, as he was coming to find out now that he’d been out from under their roof a little while. Without a word he’d slipped more than enough to pay their bill and then some as he’d stood up from his seat. “Now if the lady is quite ready.” He smiled stepping around the side of the table with his arm offered out. “I believe I’ve got you a little while longer and I fully intend on bowling one of the worst games you’ve ever seen.”

percivalsregan‌:
Percy wasn’t allowed to touch the oven or stove at home. His mom didn’t trust him. Although, she didn’t trust him to walk outside and get the mail, so he figured her bar was low for trust. Percy hadn’t given her any reason not to trust him, other than that one time that he accidentally almost burnt his hand on the stove and the one time he fell asleep in the oven, which his mom almost turned on to cook dinner. Okay, maybe there were a lot of reasons that his mom should not trust him. Percy missed home. He missed being able to talk to his sister and his mom every day other than just by owl. So baking was a good way to connect with his sister. Maybe he’d get good enough at one recipe that when he went home, he could impress her with an amazing meal. Percy doubted it. He couldn’t handle being in the kitchen for more than a few minutes at a time. He was already getting distracted now that there was someone else in the room with him.
“Are you a baker?” Percy asked, abandoning the bowl of dough-like material and brushing the flour off himself a bit. He wanted to learn from someone that knew something about baking, rather than just continue to sit around as if he knew what he was doing. He was more curious about the conversation than finishing the actual task he’d been doing. This is why he could never get anything done. “Cinnamon! Of course, that’s what they’re missing.” Percy ran to the cabinet with the spices and dug around for the cinnamon, grabbing it. He raced back towards the bowl and dumped a bunch of cinnamon in, mixing it together. “Um… I don’t know, but my sister makes them all the time. She says it’s very easy.”
Tumblr media
This kid is going to burn down our dorm. Bryx tried his very best not to cringe when he’d seen his housemate run to add more crazy ingredients into this mass of ... what did he say these were again? Actually it really didn’t matter what they were, just that they didn’t make it into the oven in the state they were in. Distract him. “Me?” He questioned, realizing that he’d been spoken to and not just as something to pass the time with. He wouldn’t say that he was but he sure as hell would be one if that’s what it took today. “I mean I can bake some. Not a bunch. Usually left my mum and gran to do the baking. They tried teaching me what they could.” He’d shrugged his shoulders, head tipping slightly. “Think they wished I’d have been a little more equipped to keep up with them in all aspects but just couldn’t do it.” Which was the truth. Bryx stuck to the books versus the natural talents. Though he could learn, slowly and with the proper teacher. That was still a hard maybe but he’d worry about that another time.
“Your sister?” He questioned, sliding back along to the cabinets, pulling open random doors to see if he could find something to help that glob. He honestly was surprised the mass hadn’t tried to start eating it’s own way out of that bowl but he supposed he should be counting his blessings for the moment. “Older or younger? And why didn’t she teach you this recipe?” He questioned, shaking a few of the boxes inside the cupboard before he’d closed the door and moved on to the utensils. Maybe a good mixing is all it needed. “Er ... I mean if it’s so easy she should have shared all the recipe, right?” He tried playing his slightly awkward insinuation off as just a slip of the tongue. “Actually I dunno if that’s what sisters are supposed to do. Isn’t there that whole thing with siblings squabbling well into adulthood?” He swore he’d worship the grave site of Merlin himself he could hold one conversation without being so damn awkward.

isaiah-cooke‌:
The sound of papers rustling made Isaiah look up from his parchment. One of the few people with him in Nap Nooks woke up and was frantically picking up pieces of paper scattered around his chair. Curious, he silently observed  what the other man was doing. He took the parchment from his bed and lifted it up to cover his face, ready to cover his eyes just in case the other looks his way. He can’t seem to help himself from looking. Watching other people was a habit of his that he isn’t at all that willing to kick. Curiosity takes over him and he just had to know what other people are up to sometimes.
To Isaiah, the other boy seemed distressed. A bad dream perhaps? Or maybe the other boy didn’t mean to fall asleep. Maybe he couldn’t afford to and he’s now regretting his choice to study in Nap Nooks. No… that’s not it, Isaiah thought to himself. As far as Isaiah knew, the current workload of everyone in the university couldn’t be that bad yet. It must be something else.
The Slytherin instinctively looked away as the person he was watching stood up. He turned his face away enough so that no one can accuse him of watching but he kept his gaze unfocused so that he can still watch the man in periphery. That’s weird, he wondered. The other boy didn’t bother finishing collecting all the papers. Some were still left underneath his sling seat.
As the other boy headed out, Isaiah silently but quickly stood up from his bed and slipped into his shoes. The other man was out the door already when Isaiah made it to his seat and crouched down to retrieve the papers. He knew that he really should run after the person who left them already but he took a peek at the papers first. What he saw, he couldn’t understand. The paper was written all over with a feverish handwriting that Isaiah couldn’t make out. It shouldn’t matter now. Isaiah quickly collected his things and went outside, checking to see whether he could still follow the mystery man wherever he might be off to.
It was foreign to him, this feeling. At least it wasn’t one he’d felt in a very long time. That itch and burn in his skin that just wouldn’t let up. Bryx chalked most of it up to the lack of sleep but still that couldn’t be all that brought that on him. Deep breath. At least being out of that place was starting to help. But what the hell was that? None of those scribbles made any sense what-so-ever.
Just calm the hell down before you give yourself a nose bleed.
If he’d just went back to his room like he’d planned to then maybe he wouldn’t be such a mess. The last thing he wanted was for other people to be looking at him. Especially in this state. It would bring up questions he wasn’t quite ready to answer or even really had the answer for. How were you to tell someone that you wrote what spirits wanted you to? Even in their spin of the world, it wasn’t completely accepted and was often looked over as they’d had some sort of defect. Bryx couldn’t bring himself to accept that just yet. Especially not with the rest of his family riding on him and their name.
The chirp from the door opening drug him from his inner turmoil for the moment. At least long enough to see that it was one of the ones close to him. He hadn’t noticed much on the way out but he also wasn’t about to explain why he’d run out like an absolute idiot. What if he’d witnessed him while the writing was happening? It wasn’t as if anyone had jumped to help him or even see what the hell he was doing. At least not that he’d noticed or would have even remembered.
Bryx pulled his hair back behind his ears and abruptly turned on his heel. The bag at his side bounced back and forth against his thigh as he’d made his way from the little shop. If he hadn’t been so exhausted from the little episode he’d have apparated on the spot but being this out of sorts ... he wasn’t willing to get splinched in the process. Perhaps he’d luck out and the kid hadn’t seen and was just merely leaving as quickly as he had.
Maybe.

percivalsregan‌:
For the most part, Percy hated routines. He didn’t like it when he had to do the same thing over and over again, especially when there were so many new things to explore and do. And maybe that’s why he’d opted to spend some time in the kitchen. Besides avoiding homework, it was one of the better tasks to do and might keep him out of trouble. Sometimes – most of the time – trouble had a way of finding him. Without his sister around to keep him occupied, Percy was bound to cause trouble one way or another. One of these days, Percy was going to get hurt and his sister was going to write him a strongly worded letter about how stupid he was. When that day came, he might be more cautious… or not. Half the time, Percy had no idea what he was doing here at school. When he’d never been the best student in the first place, but since he had no idea what he wanted to do with his life, this was a better option than trying a bunch of things. Besides, this was as close to freedom as he’d get considering if he was at home like his sister, their mom would have him on house arrest – and where was the fun in that?
Baking had never been his strong suit. Unlike potions, the worst that could happen was that he could explode some food in the oven or it would taste really bad. Potions weren’t something Percy was that great at, but he’d always enjoyed the subject. His sister excelled at baking. She use to make cookies for them all the time and it was one of Percy’s favorite things in the world to taste her creations, especially before they went into the oven. He missed her, so maybe that’s why he found himself in the kitchen, clearly failing at whatever he was trying to make. “Yeah, I think so.” He was not alright. But he didn’t want help! He could do this on his own.  The Hufflepuff took a taste of his own creation and tried to keep the look of disgust off his face. “Taste just like my sister’s.”
Tumblr media
To be honest Bryx hadn’t the slightest idea about baking. He knew his mother was a decent one and his grandmother as well but he wasn’t really sure he was the person to be able to help with this. What he did know was frustration and whether his housemate knew it, he was exuding it. And it may have been bold to think this, but he also wanted to keep in the dorm they’d all started to call their home for the while they’d be in school. And even with Percy saying it was alright, that he’d had it under control, Bryx didn’t entirely believe that. Especially from the look on his face after he’d dipped his finger to get a taste.
“Well.” He’d started, contemplating whether or not touching that batter was in his best interest or not. Bryx bent over the island and folded his arms over one another. “I’d say from the looks of it it may need a bit more sugar and a smidge more flour.” He’d concluded upon peering into the bowl. It didn’t look like it couldn’t be saved and if he wasn’t so quick to pick up on the sister part, he’d have just said to scrap the whole damn thing. People did things differently when they were working through something. Though to what that was, Bryx couldn’t say, he just figured perhaps to fix it would be easier. “And I’d say a bit of cinnamon. But only if the recipe calls for it.” He’d tugged the elastic off his wrist, pulling his long hair backwards. Not that he was going to be the baking but he also didn’t want to risk ruining them with his abnormally long locks. “What sort of bread or cake or biscuits is this meant to be?”

It was a lazy afternoon for Isaiah, hence why he’s currently at Nap Nooks, his favorite place in the campus. He only had two classes earlier that day and he just finished rewriting his notes last night, so it was the perfect time for him to revise. Known for its serenity and silence, the place was even more extra quiet during that time of the day since classes were mostly done and people were out and about. It was the perfect place to study, without sleepy students badgering him to use his bed next. Isaiah chose one of the small single sized mattresses at one side of the room that was just good for one person. The adjacent beds beside the one he chose were also unoccupied at the moment which he was grateful for. He whipped out his wand and uttered a cleaning charm. Even if the place was generally clean, the Slytherin would rather not risk falling asleep over some dried saliva that he couldn’t see. Once satisfied, Isaiah placed his bag on the floor, took off his socks, and crawled unto the mattress before sitting up in a cross-legged position. He reached out for his bag and pulled out the notes he had rewritten from the night before. A couple of professors in the university were still pretty old school and preferred writing on parchment, but most of them didn’t mind students who stopped using the quill altogether and started writing with pens. Isaiah rolled out a couple of parchments on the bed before him each written on by various colorful instruments.”  The sunlight escaping into the room through the window gave him just the perfect lighting for some light revising. Isaiah thanked Merlin and hoped that no one shows up to ruin his study session. @bryxwnlock
Ever since that letter had shown up on his bed Bryx didn’t know what to think. So far he’d been exceptional when it came to his schooling. Which was not a surprise to him. Not that he was cocky but he’d never truly experienced something bad happen to him. He always said he never thought it was possible. But was this such a bad thing? That he didn’t know and the rift between what he was taught to know as right and this were sending him into a sort of moral spiral. And the spirits had taken notice. He’d been writing more and sleeping less. The perfect mix for disaster but he couldn’t bring himself to see that. And more-so to the point he’d never imagined that he’d ever be taken over outside of his own room.
The planning was meticulous in setting everything up to ensure that he’d be safe while at school. And it was clear that Hogwarts grounds and the surrounding areas were just infested with spirits of old and, unfortunately, not that long ago. He just hadn’t in such a heavily spirit infested area like this years and it was a bit overwhelming. As was clear to him when he’d finally woken inside one of the sling seats inside of Nap Nooks.
His fingers stained with ink and his hair damp with sweat, clinging to his forehead. Bryx took a look around his immediate area. It didn’t seem to be that anyone else had seen what he was doing. Even with the shreds of paper littering the ground around him. He had to get out of there. Had to get himself cleaned up and figure out what the hell that was or rather who. He’d spelled his hair back from his face into a knot at the nape of his neck and proceeded to grab as many of the bits of paper he could, thrusting them into his bag before he’d gotten up from the sling. And even that felt as though he may as well just left his head on the ground and drug it along. His eyes squeezed shut and his fingers massaged his temples as best he could without getting too much of the ink onto his face.
There were still bit of paper scattered around but he just couldn’t be bothered. He’d grabbed what he could, enough he thought to figure out who had taken him over. The Puff gripped his bag tightly, stumbling slightly as he’d made his way towards the door and out onto the main drag. Hopefully he’d be able to make it back to the dorms without too much trouble. Maybe if he’d just slipped into one of the taverns for a moment it’d help him. At least everyone would just think he was drunk and would let him get on without so much as a question.

She liked the way he spoke. He was interesting and had fascinating opinions on things which made her eager to learn more about him, even if it was as simple as his favorite movies. He seemed to put some extra thought into things which she appreciated as it showed, in her opinion, a thoughtfulness that most lacked. She’d reached for a spring roll and put a little of the sauce that came with it over it before she took a bite. It was delicious. All the sauces and foods seemed to harmonize together well and she couldn’t help but understand why the place was as expensive as it was. The food was good. Or maybe it was the combination of food and the company she had to talk to while they ate their appetizers before they ran off to experience a more comfortable part of their date.
She couldn’t help laughing and nodded as she understood just the candy he was talking about, “Yeah, those are the….uhm…Swedish Fish, right?” Odd questioned, “But I think it’s smart, not looking for them and putting yourself at risk purposefully just to eat your favorite food. Thinking more of survival…” She took another bite of her springroll as he spoke and she took a moment to think of her own method before she swallowed. “I would probably be able to hold off looking for them until just…one day I really lost it and went looking for it.” She laughed, “My survival instincts would hold me back as long as I could until my taste buds told them to Fuck off and get me killed.” She joked and finished off her roll before reaching for another pickle, another dip into the ranch and another look of content on her face from the taste.

“But the thing that would kill me, the true craving that I would have and would eventually be why I died….” she took a moment, as if building up her reasoning but really it wasn’t she was just really considering her favorite snack. Finally she nodded and looked up at Bryx. “Funyuns. Original Funyuns would bring about my downfall, totally and completely.” She couldn’t help chuckling and reaching for another pickle chip. “A close second would have to be a Hot Pickle. The kind in the shops at gas stations?” She couldn’t help shaking her head and taking the pickle into her mouth and biting. “Those are great. I’d buy a box of them if I could.” She swallowed and took a sip of her water. “What is your verdict on our food choices?”
For as off putting as the environment was around them, the two of them seemed to be thriving. Each happily chowing down and answering as well as asking their own questions. If he were being honest he hadn’t expected this night to go as well as it was. And that stupid smile on his face was very difficult to keep in check. Though he really didn’t mind that bit at all. And if anything it really only made him more comfortable, at ease enough to let this date continue to be good. All he could hope was that Odette was enjoying herself just the same. Bryx had an idea that just might be. Especially when she smiled at him like that.
“I believe that’s what they’re called. And any other sour gummi.” He agreed with a half a bite in his mouth. Chewing it up rather quickly just to wash it down with a big gulp from his drink. “Sorry you caught me off guard with actually getting that right.” He smiled brightly at the woman across from him. There were a million other questions he wanted to ask her. Hell he could have just sat there all night speaking to her but sadly this place would close and he had promised a more comfortable rest of the night. If it was like this now, he could only imagine the delight in her company when it wasn’t so formal.
Tumblr media
“Funyuns?” He repeated, eyes narrowing slightly as he’d tried to think of what the hell that could even be. She’d said original so it was obviously something fairly popular. Sadly he couldn’t connect the dots himself as to what the hell she was talking about. It almost sounded like something that would be in their immediate world but he couldn’t honestly say he’d ever heard it before now. But something told him that he’d find out. She’d more than likely fill him in, that seemed to just be the sort of woman she was. At least from the little he’d gathered from their date so far.
Bryx took a few pickles for himself, munching happily when she’d asked. He simply nodded and gave her a thumbs up. He figured trying to chomp down and talk to her, twice, wasn’t the best of ideas. It’d been so long since he’d even been on one that he’d almost forgot the majority of what one was meant to do. He could thank the rest of his family for those failed etiquette practices. “It’s really very good. I am a bit curious though.” Bryx quickly took a drink, counteracting the salty, oily goodness he’d just consumed. “Was there a reason you picked these? Diet restrictions or were you just trying to see if I could effortless flow between the bitter brine and lush cabbage.”

Colee had smiled when he’d tapped her and clapped happily at the approval of snacks. “Well at least I know if I we ever have a movie night in my dorm room you won’t be too disappointed with the stash of snacks I’ve got hidden away.” She joked and shoved her hands in her jean pockets to keep them warm from the slight chill in the air. Colee always found herself rambling, it happened almost every time she opened her mouth but for some reason she didn’t feel embarrassed to ramble when it came to Bryx. She felt comfortable, as though she thought that he would be the one person to not tease her or grow weary of her rambling and terrible attempts at jokes.
“Good, then when I finish all my goodies before the previews end I’ll just reach over and munch on yours.” She teased him as she let out a little giggle herself. She could recall being younger and rushing to get the snacks she wanted before the show started back on, scrambling her way to the living room and jumping over furniture to be able to make it just before the program started. How silly she had been, but at that point in her life she had finally been allowed to be a kid. “Yessss! I’m going to get a blueberry slurpee, god my mouth is already watering.” She let her head fall back as though the thought of the drink was heavenly.

“Sour gummies! I love sour gummies! Sour gummy worms, sour gummy octopuses, they’re the best!” Colee seemed more excited for the snacks alone than the movie, but it was also due to her not having any idea of what kind of movie she was about to sit down and watch. At least she knew for sure that the snacks would be one of the best outcomes. “Mind you I don’t tolerate sour very well, which is why I like it so much. A bit of a masochist when it comes to it.” She teased. She thanked him as he held the door open and walked into the theater and also reached into her own pocket to grab her wallet and went up toward the box office.
“Two tickets for the Killer Klown showing please!” She chirped at the young and very unenthusiastic person sitting in the box. They sighed and printed out their tickets and she placed down enough to cover both her own and Bryx’s ticket before she grabbed them and handed his ticket over to him. “Onto snacks now, shall we?” She smiled, “I feel like we’ll need a table set up for the feast that’s about to happen!”
He’d some how gotten the impression even if he’d beat her to the counter that she would have still insisted on paying for the both of them. Which was perfectly alright with him, so long as he’d bought the snacks. Colee had a way about her that he couldn’t quite put his finger on. She was very in control. Even for how nervous she’d been the other night he could tell. Sometimes he was wrong but something told him he wouldn’t be wrong about that conclusion. He stepped up just in time to get his ticket from her. “Onward towards the snacking destination.” He concurred, giving the same enthusiastic smile right back. “We may have to take an entire row for how big this table is going to need to be.” He wasn’t joking.
Tumblr media
Bryx stepped back from the counter and made his way directly for the heavily cluttered one. Cotton candy bags, popcorn bubbling over the top of each container. It was almost a sort of treat before the movie. Obviously so. The attendee behind the counter shared about as much enthusiasm as their other co-workers. So instead of wasting any of their time, the blond pointed towards the board with their snacks listed. “Nachos with jalapenos. One blue and one red slushie. Those sour nightcrawlers and ...” Bryx looked to Colee, realizing how much it was but gave a rather lazy shrug of his shoulders. “Better throw in a tentacle tart too. And anything else she would like.”
Before she could even move to do so, Bryx had his money in hand and to the counter. His eyes narrowed at her but still he moved back in. They’d have at least a moment before all of that would be ready and he felt like they hadn’t gotten a decent amount of time in before they’d be quieted by the film. And even then, he much doubted that would stop them if they’d got going.
“Thank you.” He spoke gently, propping his elbow onto the counter. Smile spreading on his lips. “For coming out and you know,” His head nodding towards the ticket booth. “For buying my ticket. But mostly just for coming. I feel like we didn’t really get a fair chance at the party.” While he’d hoped it was as good of an impression for her as it was him, he couldn’t be sure. Even though she’d come tonight, he’d still wanted to make sure. “But I do have to warn you. Which I probably should have mentioned before you know you went and bought them.” He couldn’t help but grin. His lips pressed into a tight line, trying not to explode with laughter. “It’s really bad.” He admitted, his cheek pulling up as he leaned back slightly and nervously grinned at her. “I mean unforgivably bad. So I really just brought you out for snacks. I hope you aren’t too upset.”
