Like many of you, I'm reflecting on the meaning of this date. Experiencing sombering moments, thinking of tragic unrecoverable loss. Having to acknowledging there is evil in the world that can't always be thwarted; though we must always fight. Always. But then I remember the Heroism and Bravery. The Compassion and Caring. The Strength and Bonding. And it keeps me hopeful. We had our first Cub Scout Den meeting for the school year, and, as Tiger ranked Scouts, we spent some good time going over the Scout Flag Ceremony...which seemed appropriate and relevant to me, again, given the date. "Scout Oath: On my honor, I will do my best. To do my duty to God and my Country and to obey the Scout Law; To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight." A Father on a flight from New Jersey to California...with a wife, and their 11-month old first baby, a daugther, who he loved dearly...who he never got to watch grow up. Who, along with his fellow Hero's, made the ultimate sacrifice in the hopes that others would be spared. I'm thankful every day I get to spend with my wife and kids. I'm blessed. We hope to teach them to Believe in the Good in the World. To be Brave. "To help other people at all times." To stand up for and believe in this Country and it's People, imperfect and flawed as we may be. "This is my America, and I love her, scars and all." God Bless You All, and God Bless America.
