pls ignore if you're not up to it but i'm having an... awful, awful day. do you have any team 8 headcanons you feel like sharing?

- Kurenai was not expecting to get a genin team. She’s a new jounin. She’s an active jounin. Someone has clearly made a grave mistake.

- Sarutobi is unfortunately very certain that he did not, in fact, do anything of the sort. 

- She walks in to meet her team, opens the door to Kiba yelling at Shino, who’s glaring back as Hinata stares longingly at Naruto, and nearly walks right back out. 

- In retrospect, maybe letting Anko get her drunk so she would spill all of her troubles was a Mistake.

- When Kiba, Shino, and Hinata turn up for training the next morning, they’re not met by their kind, slightly bewildered teacher, but by a madwoman with a bloodthirsty grin who claims she has their teacher tied to her headboard. 

- (This is not true. Anko is usually the one getting tied up. Not that Anko is going to tell the brats that. Well. At least not on purpose.)

- It turns out fine, there’s really no need for Kurenai to turn that particular color, the kids did great and they’re so much better at dodging now.

- Compared to Anko’s torture training, Team 8′s first C-rank is a breeze. 

- Since they’re all clan children, and children of Clan Heads, there’s not a lot of basics Kurenai really needs to get into. She’s petty enough to want to rub that fact in Kakashi’s face, but tactful enough that she doesn’t. 

- Anko keeps turning up at their training ground, to the point where Kiba has gotten fantastic about picking up unfamiliar scents the moment they come into range. Kurenai doesn’t know whether to be proud or exasperated. 

- Hinata comes to training one day shaking and bruised from a match with her father. It’s entirely casual, but Kiba just keeps talking to her as they leave, tells her stories about pranking people with Naruto that get her so caught up that she doesn’t realize they’re headed for the Inuzuka compound until they’re in Tsume’s kitchen with tea and snacks. 

- (Kurenai starts telling Hiashi that she’s been giving Hinata special kunoichi lessons that run so late Hinata just sleeps over. Hiashi never questions it, and Hinata splits her time between the Aburame and the Inuzuka.)

- Shino asks her to teach him flower arranging. Hinata’s good at it, and enjoys it, and Shino likes making edible works of art for his bugs to entertain themselves in. 

- Anko crashes an Academy lesson on kunoichi skills, because of course she does, and then flees to Kurenai in horror over the fact that some idiot separated the classes. The boys never got those lessons, and that’s a recipe for future disaster.

- Shino and Kiba have more seduction skills than any of their male classmates put together, and are entirely proud of it. 

- Kurenai spends so much time panicking over teaching them wrong, or ruining their careers, or turning them off shinobi work forever, that she wakes up one morning and is utterly astonished to find that…they’re actually not terrible. 

- They’re really not terrible, and when did that even happen?

- (Kakashi’s team is a train wreck. Sure, she’s still trying to get Hinata to make eye contact, Shino to stop being quite so tense, and Kiba to be a little quieter, but at least she’s made quantifiable progress. Kakashi, genius and career jounin, has not.)

- Anko laughs when she says as much, and promises that she’s putting all of her money on Team 8 when the Chuunin Exams roll around.

Fairy Tail play Among us

Lucy: I saw Gray vent.

Gray: What? Bullshit I didn't!

Juvia: HOW DARE YOU ACCUSE MY GRAY-SAMA OF MURDER!

Erza: Well this is a game where you can do that Juvia, even he could do it.

Juvia: Gray-sama would never.

Gray: Exactly, I wouldn't!

Natsu: You would, why would Lucy lie.

Gray: Cause maybe she is the imposter?

Natsu: Hmmmm sounds like you are shifting the blame ice boy.

Gajeel: As a former actual detective-

Cana: You never were.

Gajeel: I say we don't have enough evidence, let us continue but I keep my eyes on you, ice man.

Gray: Fine, whatever

*At the end of the game, the imposter won, it was Lucy and Gray*

You don’t know how much the Lucy vs Brandish scene means to me.

It might be normal for Natsu, Erza, or some other OP characters to fight their enemies head-to-head seriously, but not Lucy. Lucy doesn’t like fighting, AT ALL. Even at times the guild members were fighting with each other, she would only stand on the sidelines waiting for things to cool down.

On most occassions, she only fell victim from others’ fights and get hit. Even then, she didn’t try to fight back or call on her spirits to help her. She would just tell her friends to “cut it off” or wait until they finished their fights.

For someone like Lucy, it was almost impossible to fight from impulse or anger. Unlike most characters in Fairy Tail (like Natsu, Gray, Erza, or even Juvia), she doesn’t fight because she wants to. She fights because she HAS to. If the situation calls for it, like the GMG or Tartaros arc, she will fight. However, most times the people she fought with were from the opposing side from the guild, but not Brandish.

Such as Angel, Flare, or Jackal, she had a clear objective to fight. It was clear they meant evil for the guild. That was why she could fight using her full power with no hesitation.

But that wasn’t the case for Brandish. Lucy KNEW Brandish didn’t want to fight either. To top it off, Brandish knew about Layla, Lucy’s mother — her only weakness except of Fairy Tail. Brandish also knew Aquarius, another sore spot of Lucy, and were wiling to negotiate with August for the sake of ending the war. Lucy regarded Brandish like her friend.

It was very hard for Lucy to actually fight, but seeing Brandish turning Natsu’s tumor to its original size? She was sooo desperate to save Natsu, that she was wiling to use all of her strength to fight what seemed like a losing battle. It was clear how much she didn’t want to fight, but she needed to, and she was WILLING to use her full power, even using Aquarius’s star dress, for the sake of protecting her friend.

This isn’t a simple “NaLu” scene. We all see how many times Natsu had protected Lucy, but we could barely see the moments Lucy could actually did the same. It’s not because Lucy is weak, per se, it’s just that Lucy doesn’t like to fight. Because of her personality, Mashima usually made Lucy to be the one preventing Natsu to launch an impulsive attack.

The show mostly highlights Natsu’s battle scene and willness to protect his family because he’s the male protagonist, but sometimes we forget that Lucy is the FEMALE protagonist of the manga, and deserves the recognition regarding her willness to fight despite not being a crazy strong, God-mode character like most strong people in the story.

It showed how much she grew as a person, as a wizard, and as someone who would do ANYTHING to keep her friends safe. If that’s not character development, then I don’t know what is.

Do you ever just get really emotional about how Capricorn would’ve adored Lucy if he’d been her spirit from the start. I bet he would’ve given her rides on his shoulders. Helped her with her homework. Kicked Jude’s ass. Stayed up with her late at night if she was having nightmares. Capricorn would’ve been the best big brother/father figure for her and I’m so sad we were robbed of that cuz Zoldeo was an asshole
