Definitely a new perspective
Tumblr media
A young Swedish woman, who described herself as having extraordinary beauty and extremely seductive charms
posted an anonymous ad on Craigslist stating that she was looking for a wealthy man to marry with an annual income of over $500,000, plus several conditions.
She received a response from a commenter, as follows:
- My dear beautiful lady...
I read your post with interest, and I think many beautiful girls have questions similar to yours. Allow me to analyze your questions as a professional investor. My total annual income is over $500,000, which perfectly matches your requirements.
From my perspective as a businessman, it would be a bad decision to marry you. Here's my short answer, and let me explain why:
"Regardless of the details, what you're doing now is a pure transaction. An exchange of your "beauty" for "my money."
Person A has the beauty, and Person B will pay money for that beauty. A perfectly fair and straightforward transaction. However, there's a fatal problem here: your beauty will inevitably diminish over the years, while my money isn't expected to diminish without a strong reason. The truth is, my income will likely increase from year to year, while you won't be any more beautiful in a few years.
So, from an economic perspective, I represent an "asset" whose value increases over time, while you represent a "consumer" asset whose value decreases. If your beauty is all you own, things will get worse because you won't be a normal consumer product, but rather a product with a very high depreciation rate that will completely expire within 10 years.

“Raquel, I’m Not Afraid Anymore…” — The Final Visit That Broke Raquel Welch’s Heart
The hospital room was quiet, save for the slow, steady beeping of the heart monitor. Outside, the California sun poured gently through the window, but inside, time felt still.
John Wayne lay in the bed, frail and fading—nothing like the towering cowboy the world once knew. Lung cancer had returned, fiercer this time, and even the Duke, who once said “I lick the Big C,” now faced a battle he couldn’t win.
Then the door opened.
She stepped in quietly, holding a bouquet of white lilies and something more fragile: the weight of goodbye. Raquel Welch hadn’t seen him in months, but she couldn’t let him go without one last visit. She wasn’t here as a co-star, or as the Hollywood beauty the world adored—she came as a friend.
He opened his eyes and saw her. His lips curled, barely, into a smile.
“Raquel,” he whispered, his voice no louder than the wind across Monument Valley. “You still look like trouble.”
She tried to smile, but her eyes shimmered. She sat beside him and held his hand—once strong enough to tame wild horses, now trembling with each breath.
They didn’t talk about movies. Not about fame. Not even the pain. They talked about sunsets in Arizona, about laughter on old sets, about the day he gave her a ride on Zip, his favorite horse, when she was too scared to climb on alone.
“You always looked fearless,” he said.
“I learned from the best,” she whispered, squeezing his hand.
A long pause.
Then, with eyes full of peace, Wayne looked at her and said:
“Raquel… I’m not afraid anymore. I’m just tired.”
She pressed her lips to his forehead, her tears falling silently.
“Then rest, cowboy,” she choked out. “I’ll ride the trail for both of us.”
She stayed for hours—just sitting, just being there. When it was time to go, she stood in the doorway and looked back one last time.
He was already asleep, his chest rising faintly. The lilies lay beside him.
Raquel walked out into the hallway, and the moment the door closed behind her, she leaned against the wall and sobbed like the world had lost something irreplaceable.
And it had.
