So I was a TA for a figure drawing class and this last semester for little baby freshman. Overall my section students were really sweet and responsive to feedback. But my professor told me something about another section on the last day that had me about to pass out from laughing.

See, this is the first time some of these folks have seen a nude model. Even for me, having seen naked people previously, I still had an, “oh! That’s a penis!” moment during my first session in person. (For covid reasons my first semester was models in swimwear over Teams). It’s just one of those things you get over though. Since you need to draw it genitalia just becomes skin, it’s not any different to render than a shoulder or a calf.

But apparently.

There’s a crop of new students that are so shy of the genitalia that they’re submitting full body figure drawings with a blank triangle where the junk should be.

I asked, “is it X male model? Cause he wears a Speedo sometimes to pose…”

But she said no. She said there’s one student who is SO shy she refuses to draw buttcracks. The professor was flummoxed. She’d write on homework “needs gluteal fold for clarity” but this student is just adamant.

The professor went on to say, “They should at least be making them like a Ken doll! Even Ken has a bulge, these students aren’t even capturing the form of a bulge!”

monarchy has no real purpose and should be abolished irl but im a slut for royal families in fiction. the politics. the intrigue. families divided by the eyes of a nation. the pressure of children told from birth that they are born to rule, born for only one purpose. the stifling of empathy and real bonds and love. the loneliness when all eyes are on you. it’s so inherently tragic and yet everyone involved is terrible because that’s all they can be. gimme.

I am deeply appreciative of how much of a loser they made Astarion. Like he's sexy sure but the man doesn't have a single W to his name. He's been stuck in tunnels eating rats for years and his first time out and about he gets literally brainwormed and has to pull some Wil E. Coyote shit to team up with people. His whole menacing blood drinking schtick is immediately undercut by him being a massive virgin about the whole ordeal. In his centuries long flop era and trying so desperately to cover it up

of course astarion gets mad early game when you do nice things for no reason. can you imagine getting out of the hell he was in and discovering that the world is awash in kindness, just never for you? the gods do answer prayers, just never your's. people go on long, dangerous quests for strangers with no reward guaranteed, but you just never saw those people. now that youve already done the impossible and escaped, you can see that rivers of sympathy and compassion flow all over but for some reason they always dried out before they reached you. where was all this good in the world when you needed it most?
