Note
Ats has many crimes but seasons 4 and 5 are the worst of them. The complete destruction of Cordelias character (i know it wasn't her but they wait way too long to reveal that. The damage was already done) only for her to be killed off screen in the last season and the complete regression of Spike and his character arc are unforgivable. Gunn, Lorne, Fred (until the Illyria arc), and Wes (except for that one ep with his dad) are given nothing to do in s5 and feel like an afterthought. I am genuinely baffled that so many people seem to consider s5 better than s2 (peak ats, imo) and/or better than any of btvs. Ats ended after s3 for me.
absolutely agree with you! there’s a reason i find btvs endlessly rewatchable while rewatching ats is always more frustrating because of…all of this. there’s a lot of potential in s5 and i like cherry-picking parts of it that are good but they can’t fix the damage done by s4 which is just unsalvageable. all of the characters deserved better but especially cordelia gunn fred and lorne. they truly didn’t understand spike’s character and the loss of cordelia devastated all of the relationships in the show. s3 is also the last ats season i choose to recognize.

i have to say i’m kind of just baffled by the common consensus that season 5 of ats is amazing or whatever. granted, this is mostly a me thing — i hate what they did to cordelia and “you’re welcome” only makes up for it a little, i hate that they kill fred and i don’t think illyria is worth the trade-off, i hate that they kill wesley, i hate that faith isn’t a main character, i hate what they do with spike’s character, etc. i can’t quite forgive ats for any of its faults just because the final season is supposedly worth it and i don’t really see how it could be that great. maybe that’s because i liked ats most during season 2-3 when there were themes of hope and family that pretty much die later on. bottom line is despite my own disdain for the first evil, i disagree with anyone who says ats has a better final season than btvs. btvs will always be better.
#and it's true that btvs killed off tara and anya#the two worst things they did imo#but tara's death as much as i wish it didn't happen was handled well in the show. it had a purpose it had a meaning it wasnt forgotten#and anya's death came at the very end of the show so i can sort of accept it even tho she deserved better#but the point is that buffy still had the heart of the show by the end to me#whereas angel lost that in season 4 and i don't think they managed to gain it back

why does angel btvs dress so much like a vampire. like when he's all depressed and stuff and he's ashamed of his evil nature or whatever... like hey man NOBODY told you you have to wear a red silk shirt and a leather jacket at all times. those are vampire clothes!!!!!!!

can i speak my truth. i do find david boreanaz attractive in season 1-2 of buffy and after that i really dont. but when he smiles…oh boy
#it’s rare that he smiles genuinely at buffy i can only think of a few instances#another sign of how they didnt properly know each other but i digress#but when he smiles at cordelia in ats…and when he smiles at brennan in bones…#or even cordelia in btvs#it’s like this silly happy lovesick smile. and it gets me.
