Sleepy lamb

carer x little!reader

The little one sat happily on his playroom floor, basking in the late afternoon sun spilling through the curtains and onto his latest work of art- a beautiful landscape filled with flowers. He uncapped a pretty blue marker, ready to color the sky, when a huge wave of sleepiness swept over him. He gave a wide, deep yawn and dropped the uncapped marker on the floor. Sleepily, he laid down on the carpeted floor, pulling his knees up to his chest

As if completely on cue, his caregiver appeared in the doorway, smiling down at her baby. "There you are, little lamb," she said, arms crossed. She crept in the room, kneeling down next to him and rubbing his back. "That's a beautiful picture! Too tired to finish it?"

All that escaped the little's mouth was a small, "mhm".

His carer chuckled and lifted him up gently. "Let's get you all cozy, hm?" She carried him to his changing table. He suspected a diaper change, which was all too odd because he hadn't even used his yet. But then he saw his favorite swaddling blanket, a pretty pastel green blanket with embroidered sheep on it. His carer had sewed them on herself, which just made it all the more special to him.

She seemed to have expertly twisted the fabric around him- not too tight, and not too loose. A perfect swaddle with his arms free.

She lifted him back up and sat down on the floor, setting him in her lap. She pulled the bucket of markers over and brought out a matching blue marker as the one on the floor. She brought that one over to her lamb.

"You think you've got a little left in you, baby sheep?" He carefully grabbed the marker, suckling on his free thumb. "You can color one half of the sky and I'll color the other, alright?"

He nodded, reaching down and coloring the left half of the page while his carer carefully colored in the other half.

Soon enough, it was completed. His carer pressed a soft kiss into his temple. "Look at this!" she cooed. "It looks perfect." She collected the markers and placed them back in the bucket, then picked him up and placed him in his crib. "I'll put this on the fridge for you, yeah? I'll be right back."

He watched as she left the room, and his eyes fluttered shut for just a little while. When he opened them again, she was coming back in with something in her hands. He was much too tired to figure out exactly what it was.

She slipped a gentle hand under him, propping him up against the wall of his crib and softly slipping the nub of a bottle in his mouth.

"Drink up, my little lamb," she said, holding it up just enough for him to take hold of it. It was perfectly warm and soothing. She watched him with a loving gaze.

When the bottle was empty once again, she grabbed it away and replaced the nub with the soft center of a pacifier. He laid back down, eyes closing gently.

"Goodnight, little sheep," she cooed. She kissed his forehead and left the room, quietly closing the door behind her.

Bedtime, baby

After a long day of work, you came home to your caregiver taking gentle care of you.

Today was the longest day at work. At least, it felt like it. For you, the day just droned on and on. All you wanted to do was go home and relax.

The drive home felt even worse. Traffic went on for miles, and what's usually a 20 minute drive lasted for almost an hour. You were exhausted, and you just wanted to get home to your partner.

After what felt like a year and a half, you finally pulled into your driveway, hurriedly turning off your car, gathering your belongings, and walking through the front door.

To your surprise, your partner seemed to have a hunch. They had a whole set up made just for you.

On the couch in the living room sat your favorite stuffie, a small fidget toy, and a paci all laid out neatly on your favorite soft blanket. On the TV was your favorite comfort movie on pause, waiting just for you.

You shut the door behind you, setting your keys up and belongings on the coffee table, and as you walked further into the apartment, your partner was in the kitchen, holding a small plate of chicken nuggets in one hand and a sippy cup full of juice.

"Hi, honey," your partner cooed, handing you the plate and juice. They placed a hand on your back, leading you out of the kitchen and on the couch, sitting you down and unpausing the movie.

You weren't completely sure what to do. Everything was perfect, and completely unexpected. You felt like you hit a wall. No matter how wonderful this was you just... couldn't.

Your partner took notice of your awry expression, petting your hair.

"What's up?" they asked.

You set your food down on the coffee table and sighed. "This is perfect, really," you said. "I just... this is so nice of you. I just can't do it right now. I'm just tired."

Your partner nodded. "That's ok, bubbas. But I do think this would help you a lot." They paused the movie again, bringing you into a hug. "Can we try something?" You nodded. All you wanted was to just relax. You knew they were right, this would help after the day you had.

They stood up, grabbing your hand and leading you along into your shared bedroom. "Sit here, baby," they said, sitting you down on your bed, and they walked into the bathroom. You wondered what they could possibly be doing in there after hearing rustling.

They came back out holding... a piece of paper? How odd.

But as they came closer, you could see the small details on it. Your heart fluttered when you found out it was a diaper. Your face flushed, and your partner chuckled.

"Can I put this on, bubbas?" they asked. You nodded sheepishly, laying down on the bed.

Expertly, they slipped off your bottom half and folded the diaper on. You sat up, loving how soft it felt. You could already feel the wall breaking, and yourself slipping.

"Let's get you back out so you can eat your dinner, ok? It's starting to get late, honey." You nodded, letting them lead you back out onto the couch. You were much more receptive to everything that had been previously laid out.

After the movie ended and you finished eating, you felt your eyelids become heavier. You practically fell sideways onto your partner, letting your eyes close.

"Oh, is my baby getting sleepy?" they asked. You nodded, turning to hug their waist. They chuckled, moving to pick you up. "You can't fall asleep on me."

But I want to, you thought. But as you opened your mouth to tell your partner, all that came out was incoherent babbles.

Your partner smiled. They slipped your paci in your mouth, let you grab hold of your stuffed animal, and picked you up, letting you rest your head on their shoulder.

"Oh, my, you're so small! Look at you!" They danced in front of a mirror in the entry way, swaying back and forth, making silly faces at you. You couldn't help but giggle.

"Does my bubbas want a bottle before bed?" they asked. You nodded enthusiastically. They whisked you away into the kitchen, pulling a bottle out of a cupboard. They set you down on the counter, and you frowned.

"Hey honey, it's ok. I just need to get the milk, ok?" Reluctantly, you nodded, whining in response.

They poured the milk into the bottle and a splash of vanilla inside, knowing that's exactly how you liked it, and threw it in the microwave for a few seconds, warming it up to soothe you to sleep.

Once everything was ready, they grabbed the bottle, picked you back up, collected your blanket off of the couch, and laid you down in bed, changing your shirt to a comfy sleep shirt and clipping your paci onto the collar of your shirt. Carefully, they slipped the paci out of your mouth, letting it hang by your side, and set the tip of the bottle in your mouth. They smiled as they felt you drinking the milk, and pet your hair softly.

Once the bottle was empty once again, they set it down on their night stand, placing the paci back in your mouth, and slipping the blankets over you. You were content, you were tiny, and you were finally, finally, relaxed. They were right. This was exactly what you needed.

struggles as an autistic age regressor

all *my own experiences* that i’ve been thinking about recently!! remember that everyone experiences their regression differently (^з^)-♡

✿ crying for an hour because you ran out of your favourite toothpaste

✿ deciding that going hungry is better than eating an unsafe food

✿ getting overwhelmed by your own regression space becoming messy but not being able to clean it up without help

✿ needing someone to baby you while regressed but also needing them to give you space so you don’t get overwhelmed

✿ using your stuffies for comfort on a normal basis but hiding them before you have a meltdown so they don’t see it

✿ using your favourite chewelry every day so much that it starts to rip/break when you use it.

✿ having a hard time with the bathroom but getting scared of using/needing diaps

✿ having trouble separating internalized ableism from your real needs

✿ feeling like you have to hide your regression because people already think you're “too childish”
