Jughead, God of the Underworld, has always been a guy for the party life. Go home with a nymph, wake up with a new one, love nowhere in sight. So how in the fuck does one pink-skinned goddess named Betty change everything after one accidental encounter? Will the contrast of death and spring intertwine beautifully or end in disaster?

The Coopers were a family of all the greatest Witches, and the Joneses, well, a family of the greatest Warlocks that ever roamed the Earth.
Their fates have been sealed way before they were even born—to rule and conquer the world, to make them bow down before them.
To reign in the darkness, as their parents would say. Lead their coven, be the successors of their parents as the king and queen of the dark side.
But he never really saw her as a being that thrived in darkness.
That is, until he got a taste of it himself.

Jughead Jones walked away from Riverdale a little over 13 years ago leaving behind his past and everything involved, including the love of his life Betty Cooper. Leaving had been the only way to protect her or atleast that’s what he had thought..but now? he’s back and the beautiful little blonde, blue eyed spit fire in his seventh grade English class looks awfully familiar.

jughead pulling oit a switchblade and threatening someone will never be a cohesive thing with his character... no matter how much people say it or enjoy it for some reason
I mean. Firstly. Do we forget what and WHO Jughead grew up with? I’m not just talking about the Serpents here or the Southside, or his bout of teenage homelessness, or the fact that he was bullied, although those are all definitely part of the picture. I’m talking about having a volatile, alcoholic father who handcuffs his child to a fridge.
Now. Am I saying that Jughead is violent because his environment was? Of course not. I’m saying the boy clearly knows how to survive. And if he can weaponise something to protect himself or the people close to him, then he’s gonna do it.
But Jug also has a weak spot in Betty. Are we forgetting the fact that he was all cool and calm and collected when he marched into Ghoulie territory at the end of S1, until Malakai mentioned doing stuff to Betty? He SNAPPED.
From memory, we’ve seen him bring out a switchblade three times in this series - once, flailing under heavy pressure and with Betty in direct danger from Penny Peabody. The second time, with Betty in danger in her own house from the creepy Chic-related strangers. In the last episode, it was to protect his best friend Archie who had been wrongfully accused, imprisoned and STABBED by someone who was meant to protect him. In other words, the switchblade has always been used tactically, strategically - to defend those he loves.
Was he always right? Can we always defend those actions? No. But we’re not talking moral correctness here; we’re talking cohesion, which is what you’re bringing to this ask. And as far as being the actions of a young teenage boy who’s under incredible pressures and threats, they’re consistent.
It’s very easy to fixate on soft, sardonic conscientious objector Jug in Season 1 and pretend that that’s the totality of his character. But it’s not. It’s been nearly 30 episodes since Jug was given a Serpent jacket. It’s been more than 20 episodes since he first pulled out the switchblade. You can definitely say that you don’t like it (and lots of people don’t) but saying it’s not cohesive? Maybe re-examine that.

do you age any long, angsty, completed fics?
Oh, boy do I! I happen to be a huge fan of angst so I’m going to leave you with a few tags and link a few (ha, yeah right this list got long) of my favorites! - K
genre: angst  // long fic
road to me by @heavy-lies-the-crown  (14/14)
Word Count: 131,956 / Rating: T
Summary: There are things you need to let go of to become the person you’re meant to be and want to be. Sometimes, there are people you need to let go of, too. But, there are certain people in life that you’re just never meant leave behind, and no matter what you do, the road will always lead you straight back to them.
Or, they had perfectly good reasons for breaking up – but that may not be enough for their friends, for fate, for their own hearts - that keep marching them to crossroads with each other time and again.
Shooter by @lazydaizies (21/21)
Word Count: 141,048 / Rating: M
Summary:  Betty Cooper, an avid hiker gets lost on a new trail and after wandering for three days and seriously injuring herself, manages to stumble on a cabin, miles from civilization. Who is the mysterious dark haired, blue eyed stranger that nurses her back to health and what is he doing all alone, cut off from human contact in the middle of nowhere.
trigger: ptsd // violence
fall in light series by @sylwrites (9 works)
Word Count: 151,247 / Rating: M

trigger: mentions of sexual assault
House of Memories by @thenurseholliday (6/6)
Word Count: 42,503 / Rating: E
Summary: “Baby we built this house, on memories, take my picture now, shake it till you see it, and when your fantasies, become your legacy, promise me a place, in your house of memories.” Future Bughead AU, set after Season 2.
Snakes and Crowns by @cooperandjonesinc (13/13)
Word Count: 39,020 / Rating: E
Summary: Betty Cooper just can’t seem to fit in at Southside High. It’s run down, everyone seems to hate her just on principle, and the people who are running the Red and Black don’t want her help at all. To make matters worse her recently divorced mother is trying to find her ‘soulmate’ by going to conventions and touching as many hands as possible.
Betty doesn’t even believe in soulmates anyway. Just because some people’s nervous systems happen to sync up when they touch for the first time doesn’t mean they’re soulmates destined to fall in love. Right?
valentine’s day is for suckers. by @mogitz (10/10)
Word Count: 52,174 / Rating: M
Summary:  Childhood friends turned roommates Jughead Jones and Betty Cooper find themselves alone and drunk on Valentine’s Day. Bughead Smut.
shaking landings  by @lessoleilscouchants (11/11)
Word Count: 38,640 / Rating: NR
Summary: It’s chilly out, but Betty rolls down her window and reaches her hand outside of the car, the wind rushing between her fingers. Her hair flies into her face but she doesn’t seem to mind.
Jughead wants to write her down, every bit of her, in this moment. She’s like something from Kerouac. She’s like something full of feeling.
Or: Jughead Jones attempts to right (and write) his life.
The Con by @jerepars (13/13)
Word Count: 85,687 / Rating: T
Summary: con (verb): persuade someone to do or believe something, typically by use of a deception.
Getting over her crush on her brother’s best friend would be so much easier for Betty if he hadn’t just moved to the same city as her.
For All The Words I Can’t Speak Aloud (I’ll write down in verse) by @itsindiansummer13 (9/9)
Word Count: 41,988 / Rating: T
Summary: There are tears in her eyes and her lip is quivering and all he wants to do is still it with his thumb. He balls his hands into tight fists instead. “It’s just a book?” she chokes.
Jughead hears in her words the unvoiced statement: Those characters are us. He swallows, hard, and steps to the side. “Come in.”
Or, as part of her job, Betty has to interview author Jughead Jones on his new book. She hasn’t seen him since the day before she left for Columbia, when he told her she had to make a fresh start away from Riverdale and the Serpents - including him. Now, the words on the page take her back to the town and the boy she thought she’d managed to leave behind, but with the turn of each leaf she finds that’s not the case at all.
Let Me Love The Lonely by @peaceblessingspeyton (26/26)
Word Count: 49,549 / Rating: M
Summary: Betty Cooper is a new student at Riverdale High. She moved there with her parents after a terrible accident. At her old school she was a popular cheerleader but here she is nothing but an ugly loser just trying to make it to the end of senior year. Jughead Jones is a football player for the Bulldogs and he is popular. Everyone thinks he’s got everything but deep down he has a darkness of his own that leaves him feeling lonely and depressed.
Jughead and Betty hate each other for a few weeks but then they start a relationship that neither of them expected. Will their new love be able to stand the pressures of high school?
Bizarre Love Triangle by @ficmuse (26/26)
Word Count: 60,020 / Rating: M
Summary: When Jughead stumbles upon the yearbook from the Class of 1991, secrets are revealed that will forever alter how the teens of Riverdale view their parents.
In this story, Jughead and Betty are involved in a sexual, romantic relationship. If you don’t like that idea, this is not the fic for you.
Set after 1x7.

crowning glory
“You know, Juggie, it is getting a little long, isn’t it?” she says, reaching up to tug gently on an errant curl that had escaped the beanie.
Veronica gets the wrong idea, Betty gets sweetly stubborn, and Jughead gets a haircut.

You deserve everything good on your birthday, @stillscape! This fluffy little WIP was inspired by your comments (many, many months ago), and I hope that it makes you smile today. Thank you for being such a brilliant writer and an even better friend.
(Much love to @stirringsofconsciousness and @sullypants for lending me their eyes in the beta stage, too!)
