About this blog.
Welcome to build-a-bear-world! My goal is to document, archive, and share information and neat tidbits about Build-A-Bear Workshop and its Bears. I’m not in any way affiliated with the company, and am just here to keep the BABW love alive.
I find most of my information by looking at wikis and publicly published documents, and talking with other fans who really know their stuff. I do my best to give credit where its due, and provide sources to my research.
A little thing about me… I went to BABW for the first time around 2006 or 2007, left with a Sassy Kitty, and became obsessed ever since.
If any of you ever have questions, you’re more than welcome to ask me in the comments.
I have gotten a few people telling me that they miss playing Bearville. Here is something to help you out.

In 2013, Build-A-Bear Workshop and Gwen Stefani’s apparel/accessory brand, Harajuku Lovers, collaborated to release several new pieces of clothing for Bears. The Harajuku Hugs Panda also made its first debut, and the “Harajuku Hugs” collaboration would go on to be yet another celebrity BABW tie-in.

How to play Bearville again.
This is a bit of a follow-up to my previous post on Build-A-Bearville. I’ve had a few people reblog saying that they wished they could play the game again. Well, you actually can… kind of.
I’m sure you all remember the fate of Club Penguin. After the game died, fans uploaded similar copies of it such as Club Penguin Online to the internet. But some of these unofficial remakes weren’t exactly safe, and a few data breaches occurred, sparking controversy within the Club Penguin community.
Like Club Penguin, there are unofficial remakes out there for Bearville, too. The most popular one is Bearville Rewritten, but you can possibly find more of them by doing a simple Google search.
However, I cannot vouch for the security of these sites. Due to unofficial remakes such as Club Penguin Online experiencing security issues and data breaches in the past, I would advise to use a dummy email and completely unique password to keep your real information protected.
For anyone curious about the Club Penguin controversy, here’s a video you can watch to learn more about it.

“Heritage” Build-A-Bear Workshop storefront vs. “discovery” Build-A-Bear Workshop storefront. It can be assumed that heritage stores are stores built pre-2012, before the introduction of the discovery store package as seen on the right.

The Curly Bear, originally released in 1997, was one of the first Build-A-Bears available for purchase. It was re-released in 2022 in honor of Build-A-Bear Workshop’s 25th anniversary.

This Build-A-Bear Workshop in St. Louis, Missouri, was the first to use the newly-imagined Build-A-Bear Workshop store concept. The most major changes from previous stores involved installing digitally interactive screens at several stations used in the Bear-making process.

Please check my newest post if you want to play Bearville again.
Build-A-Bearville (or just Bearville for short) was a virtual, interactive online game where players could create their own unique avatar and explore the world of Bearville. Players could bring their real-life Bears into the game by inputting a special code that was at the bottom of each Build-A-Bear Workshop birth certificate. The game ran for a total of eight years, starting in 2007 and ending in 2015.
