So, what exactly is one supposed to give to a man that presumes to have it all? And that lack any interest on any other thing? A man that has lived long enough to see the beautiful things? Because come on, we both know all the new things aren’t as good as what one was able to see before. Well I clearly don’t know, I would had given you a dog but we both know that wouldn’t end well. So I decided to go deep into my treasure box and search something you might at least find a little bit interesting. 

This is a knight’s sword, from my people. It is passed by on generations to people who deserve respect, to the elders. So yes, there’s that.

[ Frederick is going to stay quite all the way trough the letter and unwrapping the gift, with a faint upwards tilt to the corner of his lips. He’s not sure how she found out it was his birthday, or what could have possessed her to give him what was considered a meaningful gift;very few people knew of his actual age and his actual situation and even less knew of the small, one man celebration he threw for himself every year. 

Yet he appreciate it, and in the next few days he probably hang it in his office, as a reminder that no, he was no dragon slayer but he knew where and how to stick the point end if needed. 

Next time he sees her, he’ll remember to say thank you because one thing is buying something and another, much more difference, if giving up something that belongs not only to her but to her culture as well.That, and he likes to feel respected. ]
