Benefits of Getting Hair Restoration From Experts
Hair restoration treatment becomes essential as it makes you look younger and stay beautiful even if age is taking a toll on you. When you age, you may become bald as the thick growing hair starts to fall when the cell degeneration starts. Other than this, people can also experience a hair loss owing to some physiological and genetic reasons. What is to be noted that despite knowing all this and irrespective of the gender, type and status, the humankind has aversion towards baldness.
Despite the ignorance of the baldness problem, it becomes inevitable to overlook in certain cases. Baldness poses serious threats to our overall look and personality. Therefore, the technologically advanced process of a hair transplant can add appeal to your face and persona and you may be at your happiest best.
Perfect Solution
As a permanent solution, people generally go for a surgical procedure that eradicates the problems by its root. During the process, hair follicles from a part of the body are shifted to those areas that are affected by complete or partial hair loss. Not just a bald patch on the head but this method also treats loss of hair from areas, such as eye lashes, brows, chest and face and revives them. With one part of body acting as a source of hair for another, each process of extraction and implantation is equally important.
Requiring excellent surgical skills and precision, a hair transplant is generally offered as the last resort in treating a bald patch. It is mostly effective in treatment of baldness in men who owe it to hereditary origins. The process rarely uses sedation and employs two grafting techniques including harvesting of strip and extracting follicular units. Though, both pre and post operative precautions are required after the procedure.
Costly Affair Yet Cost Effective
There are few conditions applied like it can be a highly costly affair as it requires high surgical acumen and delicate handling. But the total pricing depends upon the graft counts and the technique adopted. Other factors that count while determining costs are the extent of loss, availability of donors, hair texture of the donating region as well as the case specific expectations. Repair surgery also comes within a price. Thus, we can say that it will be in your pocket. Hair transplantation costs have also fallen considerably owing to the other affordable options as alternatives.
Advantages and Added Benefits
If you go by the trends, the aesthetic clinics today offer free advice to people in need of a consultation. Despite being expensive, the overall longevity of the process and its high effectiveness makes it worth the penny. This method has advantages aplenty including the hair continuing with its growth. You do not have to search for a donor as you are the donor yourself. The much needed result is obtained right away and the uniformity is maintained while grafting. As the consultation fee is minimal and the effect is everlasting, the procedure is cost effective and the partial anaesthesia makes it safer. 5 Most Common Causes of Female Hair Loss
If you are one of those women, you may re-grow your dull, brittle hair with the help of an amazing hair restoration procedure called PRP Hair Loss Treatment. But, it is better if you understand the root causes of hair loss. If you are able to understand the reasons, you may take a right decision about treating your hairs.
Here, we are going to explain five major causes that are responsible for causing hair loss in most of the women. However, there are many common reasons that are responsible for severe hair loss in both men and women but the causes we are talking about bring hair problems in women.
Read and beware if you have any of these causes!
1. Improper Hair Care:
You have to agree that before you plan for a hair care, you must know what a proper way to treat your hairs is. You wear a lot of hair styles but probably don't know that tight hairstyles keep your hairs pressurized for hours. You apply a lot of hair products without thinking which of these products is really useful for hair or not. Probably you don't know that your shampoo or hair color may cause hair loss as well. If you are facing hair problems, talk to your doctor or hair experts to find out what is harming your hairs.
2. Anemia:
Anemia is a serious disease that is caused due to low intake of iron. Women are more prone to anemia due to heavy menstruation cycle. The second for anemia is inadequate folic acid in the body. It all means the low supply of oxygen to your hair follicles due to the low production of hemoglobin. At the last, your hairs start to fall.
3. Pregnancy:
Several women lose hair just after the delivery. During pregnancy, estrogen hormone is on its high levels but after the delivery, the level of the hormone is normalized. This fall of the hormone level may result in the start of sudden hair fall. However, this phase is considered as a temporary phase by the experts.
4. Menopause:
When a woman reaches the age of menopause, she may face a lot of changes in the body and severe hair loss is one of these changes. A reason for hair loss at this stage is the low level of estrogen hormone in the body. The symptoms can be minimized with proper care or advice of the experts.
5. Extreme Weight Loss:
Most of the women like to have a slim body and some of them try to follow a tight diet plan for this aim. They probably don't know that strict diet plans may cause the nutrient deficiency in the body. Moreover, a diet plan may cause sudden and extreme weight loss that badly affects the health of your hair.
Now if you think you have some of these reasons, consult your doctors soon to bring a change in your thinking about your hairs. If you feel, conditions are out of control, you may apply PRP hair treatment on your hair and after that, you are going to have amazing results certainly. Psychological Impact of Limb Lengthening Surgery on Mental Health

Medically speaking, people with limited height or short stature, are not handicapped, due to the limitation of their height; generally, men under 170 cm in men or women under 160 cm. Normally people with limited stature can perform daily functions of life without any obstacles. Yet, many people opt to have limb lengthening surgery to increase their height, for reasons relating to psychological factors, social and career advancement or just for their self-esteem or image. In this article, we will discuss the impact of limb lengthening surgery on the patients.
It is imperative for any person opting to have limb lengthening surgery to understand that it is major surgery; whereas, even minimally invasive surgeries carry a risk of complication. In comparison; a limb lengthening surgery carries a little more risk of complication; ranging from slow unification of bones to non-unification, pin-site infections, and muscle stiffness. Furthermore, as these treatments are considered cosmetic; most medical insurance will not cover the costs associated with them. Thus, it is interesting to see that patients still opt to undergo such surgery, despite the risks and costs; as the gain is worth the sacrifice, in most cases. We focus, on a group of limb lengthening and limb discrepancy patients and follow a medical study that evaluates their height increase and the general impact on their lives after the surgery.
Limb lengthening surgeries are performed using various surgical techniques and methods, ranging from, external fixator, to lengthening over a nail and internal lengthening. Usually, the studies conducted, in the past; were focused on clinical success and averages height gain statistics; rather than the psychological and social impact of the surgery on the patients. However, some studies did focus on the pain aspect of the surgery and others on the physical appearance satisfaction after the surgery; but this study highlights the long term effects of the surgery on the patients.
The study was focused on measuring the long terms of psychological functioning after height increase, in patients who used the external fixator methods and lengthening over nail (LON) methods. The psychological assessment was carried out at three intervals, before the surgery, 1 year after the lengthening and 7 years after they had the lengthening surgery. The study asked a group of 28 limb lengthening patients to fulfill a questionnaire specially designed to calculate the changes in self-esteem and a person’s perception of themselves; using the international Rosenberg self-esteem scale (RSE).
The questionnaire focused on questions like:
“Were you happy with the height gained?”
“Do you believe that you made the right decision to undergo the surgery to increase height?”
“Would you recommend the surgery for friends or family?”, “Did the surgery have a positive impact on your social life?”
And lastly, “Did the operation of height increase have a positive impact on your career?”
The total score of the RSE self-esteem test, of the group of 28 patients showed a surprising finding. The average findings of RSE for the patients were:
Before the surgery: 21.5
1 year after the lengthening surgery: 22
After 7 years of the surgery: 21.7
As far as patient satisfaction goes concerning height gained; post-surgery, both at 1 year and 7-year mark, 20 patients were satisfied; while 8 patients remained unsatisfied either at the 1 year and 7 years, after the surgery.
The study found only 3 patients felt that they had made the right decision about having the height increase surgery; while 5 patients did not consider that they made the right choice in choosing the surgery, both the one year and seven-year mark, after the surgery.
Almost 7 patients, stated that they would recommend the surgery for friends; while the remaining 21 patients wanted to recommend the surgery, neither in 1 year nor in 7 years postoperative.
Four patients reported a positive impact on their social lives after the cosmetic limb lengthening surgery; while 24 patients did not report any positive impact on their social lives after the cosmetic surgery, either at the 1 year mark or at the 7th year mark.
Two patients reported a positive impact on their career after the cosmetic limb lengthening surgery to increase their height; while 26 patients did not report any improvement in their career lives, either at the 1-year mark or after 7 years of the surgery.
It is important to note that there have been many studies discussing the physical impact, following an external fixator limb lengthening for limb length discrepancy; but none which focusing on the psychological follow up after the height increase. The importance of this study is that it is the first one, which assesses the long term psychological follow up in normal individuals, who opted to undergo limb lengthening surgery.
The study’s most important findings were that there was a significant improvement in the self-esteem of the patients, 1 year after the height increasing surgery. On the other hand, there was ample evidence to support the fact that there was an evident decrease in the long term psychosocial evaluation, during the follow up after 7 years of the limb lengthening surgery; thus most patients returned to near their pre-surgery levels of self-esteem.
The study found a sense of the finding with the following explanation; that most patients were happy, at first after achieving their height goals and getting taller; after finishing a long process of the surgery and post-surgery care. However, as time passed, and the patients returned to their normal lives, most realized that the surgery did not change a lot in terms of their own self- image, or daily life, of social activities. It is interesting to note, from the questions presented in the study, were only 3 out of 28 patients accepted to undergo the limb lengthening surgery once again and 7 out of the 28, and accepted that they would recommend the surgery to their friends. The fact of the low outcome here points to the lack of improvement in the long terms psychological follow up after the height increasing surgery.
As far as improvements in physical functioning, over time, especially in cases of external fixator patients, physical recovery was the slowest at the early stages after the removal of the external fixators and improvement peaked during the 6th and 12th month after the surgery; and this improvement continued up to the 24th month, after the surgery. The study concluded that with limb-lengthening surgeries, there are no short terms of physical benefits, and almost a quarter of the patients still had complained about their legs. The researcher heading the study concluded that there is no short terms beneficial rationale of the surgery; in fact, the whole idea behind limb discrepancy surgery was to prevent being handicapped in the long run.
The only, previous study which recorded the psychosocial follow up after 7 years, after limb lengthening surgery, was carried out in 2009, but was limited to patients suffering from limb length discrepancy; which was corrected with external fixator limb lengthening surgery; and the study found that the patients had normal psycho-social functioning, self-esteem, and self-perception of competence.
The ending conclusion to the study then seems to suggest that despite having undergone major surgery and some financial burdens; it did improve self-esteem and self-perception in the first few years following the surgery; which due to social factors deteriorated with time. Thus it seems that the overall self-esteem of the patients did not improve significantly in the long run, after 7 years of the height increasing surgery; and psychosocial functioning was similar in comparison to pre-surgery levels in patients.
Thus, in the end, we must conclude that self-image and esteem improvement can be observed in the short term, i.e. 1years following the surgery. However, as the underlying causes of the psychological issues were never dealt with; the surgical impact slowly deteriorated to pre-surgery levels, following the 7th years of the surgery. Thus, it seems imperative that surgical intervention could help patients achieve their physical goals and achievements; but to boost self-esteem and self-perception; it is important to address those issues at a psychological level, in patients. Gastric Bypass Requirements

Gastric Bypass Requirements
When it comes to being overweight, some say that the only true way to loose weight is through exercising. However, it is often that those making the suggestions are and never have been overweight. When dealing with morbid obesity, it is not any easy task doing almost any exercise and in some cases it could also be fairly dangerous to your health especially in the case of the heart.
The gastric bypass procedure is not one, but several surgical procedures which have been combined for one simple solution, and that is quick and safe weight loss through the malabsorption of vitamins, nutrients as well as fat. This is achieved first off by the surgeon sectioning off a small pouch in the stomach using gastric staples to create an egg sized space. Afterwards the surgeon will then cut the gastrointestinal tract in several places and completely reroute it.
Risks of Gastric Bypass
There are a number of potential risks and complications associated with this procedure so it is therefore very important to listen to the instructions of the surgeon to prevent things like dumping syndrome or even the clogging up of the digestive system. As long as you follow the suggestions you will have a pain free weight loss in which you will loose up to 60% of your weight in the first year alone.
What is the Price of Gastric Bypass Surgery?
Compared to the thousands of dollars you have spent over the years due to your weight issue, the $17,000 to $25,000 cost associated with the gastric bypass sure does seem to be worth it, especially when the insurance company pays the entire hospital bill. Hair Transplant Costs Retreating in Recession

I have good news for you if your hair is thinning or you have bald spots. The number one treatment for actually getting living hair to grow in those balding areas is decreasing in price due to the recent economic problems. Hair restoration surgery is considered an elective surgery which means people do not have to get the procedure done for good health (this is debatable when the mental anguish of lower self-esteem is taken into account but it is true for physical conditions). When money is tight these elective surgical procedures are the first ones to see a drop in patients.
Hair transplants are necessary to treat baldness because if you have male pattern baldness, like 95% of the men with hair loss, then the only option to get living hair in the area is to transplant hair follicles from the back of the head where there is still good hair growth. The affected hair follicles have stopped producing hair shaft material and nothing will get them working again so they must be replaced.
Usually, hair transplant grafts cost in the neighborhood of $3 to $7 for each unit. This is the price variable which is negotiable at this time. By reducing the per graft charge you can make a dramatic difference in the total cost of the procedure. Let's say you need 1000 individual follicular units transplanted from the donation site to the balding area. Even decreasing this per unit charge by $1 will save you a thousand bucks. That's not too shabby.
During the last two decades, the number of hair transplantation procedures has skyrocketed as more and more people realize that this the only method for treating hair loss that is worth considering. You get a natural look because it is your hair that is used which means you have a perfect match for color and texture with the hair surrounding the site. Also, once the hair restoration procedure is performed, you no longer have to worry about taking drugs or applying solutions to keep it growing. You can enjoy a full head of hair again for years to come.
If you are looking to get hair growing again then visit a few hair restoration clinics for a free consultation. Most are offering discounts now because they are in business to make money and if they have no patients they have no revenue. Once you receive an estimate for the cost of the transplants negotiate them down another 10% or 20%. If the clinic won't budge on the price then tell them thanks and go to the next one. Now is the time to get this Cadillac procedure done at a price you can live with.
We understand that hair transplant is a surgery that can transform a patient, but before you embark on this journey, we would like you to consider glancing at the doctors, medical teams, transplantation methods, and related prices.

Smoking and Drinking Can Affect the Course of Your Hair Transplant Surgery
Whether your smoke or drink alcoholic beverages recently may be some of the questions that you will be asked before you undergo hair transplant surgery. Some physicians have even taken to asking whether you take any herbal supplements. It seems that many patients fail to see why these are relevant questions, they are very important to ask though for successful surgery however. This article will tell you exactly why.
Questions Asked Before Hair Transplant Surgery?
What Vitamins Supplements do you consume?
Do you take any herbal products?
Whether you take any recreational drugs, for example cannabis or cocaine.
How much alcohol you consume on a regular basis.
How much you smoke.
These may seem like the doctor is prying into your private life. However knowing these answers to these questions can help prevent bleeding or 'oozing' both before, and after the operation has taken place. I know it can seem embarrassing to admit to some of the questions, but remember that the physician needs to know, they honestly won't tell anybody. Your life may depend on giving truthful answers to these questions. You will generally be asked them during your pre-surgical examination.
If you are taking prescribed medicine you will need to supply your hair transplantation specialist with the name. If you are unable to do so you may call back at a later date and provide it. If this is still impossible then the physician will be able to get in touch with your doctor and find out exactly what drug was prescribed and for what ailment.
If the risk factor for heavy bleeding during surgery is too high then the surgery may be postponed. In the days and weeks leading up to the surgery you will be asked to cut down, and ultimately discontinue whichever habits are putting the surgery at risk. Hair Transplant Surgery may fail if your body 'oozes' as the hair grafts will be unable to attach themselves to the scalp.
How does Tobacco Smoking affect your hair transplant surgery?
Tobacco will contribute towards blood circulation problems, which can in turn lead to heavy bleeding. The blood vessels around your scalp will also become more 'elastic' which will cause a reduced amount of blood to reach the skin, thereby increasing the chances of transplant failure.
Physicians do understand that it is not easy to give up smoking, however they will explain the risks of it and how it will cause the hair transplant surgery to fail if you do not give up. If you still refuse to give up then I really do suggest that you give this type of surgery another thought, it may not be for you.
How does Alcohol Consumption affect your hair transplant surgery?
Long term consumption of alcohol has been proven to stop blood clotting effectively, which of course puts you at risk of heavier bleeding, in fact even a single dose of alcohol can increase the chances almost instantly for one or two hours. It is absolutely vital that you give up alcohol in the weeks leading up to your surgery; otherwise the physician will not want to proceed with it.
How can herbal products affect your hair transplant surgery?
Some herbal products are well known for reacting with prescription drugs, therefore increasing the chances of bleeding heavily. Some herbal products are able to do this without the aid of prescription drugs. Therefore it is vital that you stop taking them in the weeks leading up to your surgery, they really will do you no good in the grand scheme of things.
All of the other questions that your physician will ask you could also affect the chances of success with the surgery. It is incredibly important to be open and honest with your hair transplant surgeon, that way you stand a greater chance of ending up with the hair that you have always wanted. How to Prevent Hair Loss
It is normal that, at some point in life, most of us might suffer from hair loss. In the USA, it is estimated that nearly half of the population, both men and women as well, start to display signs of hair loss and baldness, nearing their age at 40 years, according to Cleveland Clinic. Furthermore, it has been established as a scientific fact that pattern baldness can be inherited and can pass down in our gene pool, from both the mother and father. Plus, the environmental factors also play a huge role in deteriorating the quality of our hair and accelerating hair loss.
Alopecia is the medical condition for hair loss, which is most often hereditary, i.e. it is passed down from generation to generation. However, hair loss can also be triggered by environmental factors such as chemical poisoning, radiation, certain drugs and medications, infections, hormone disorders or nutritional deficiencies. Besides, temporary hair loss can also be triggered by physical stress factors, such as the sudden onset of weight loss or pregnancy, or any other physical or emotional shocks, as well.
Most commonly, male pattern hair loss or baldness; also known as “Androgenetic Alopecia”; is known to affect up to 80% of Caucasian males by the age of 70 years. The National Institute of Health (USA) notes that, usually, pattern baldness or hair loss can be associated with some form of medical conditions, such as coronary heart disease and prostate problems in men and hormonal imbalance in women. They further note that such pattern baldness or hair loss can affect up to 50% of all women and is commonly caused by sexual steroid hormone, “Dihydrotestosterone”. In men, such hair loss and baldness usually start occurring at the temple or in the back of the head. However, in women, it can start to show the first symptoms of hair thinning, near the front of the head, or in the widening of the scalp line.
Generally, all other types of hair loss can be associated with the effects of scarring damage from hot combs, weaves, chemical hair products, and hair dryers; thus it is very important to be gentle with your hair. The real problem is that it is usually very hard to notice hair loss, in its beginning and sometimes it can be a signal towards a more serious health problem, and especially if there is scarring on the scalp. Females who notice hair loss with other changes in their bodies, for example, a change in their voice or spells of aggressive acne, need to get themselves checked by a doctor, as it can be a warning sign towards a more serious medical condition, such as “Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome”.
Factually, however, it must be kept in mind that humans shed about 50 to 100 hairs per day, naturally; and it is completely a normal process for the hair to fall out this way. The reason is that, as new hair start their life, older hair thin out and shed. However, the real concern starts when we start losing hair more than the new ones growing to replace them; which leads to hair loss and eventually baldness. At any given time 80% of our hair is at a long growing stage and the other 20% are going through a transitional period, leading to a resting state and then eventually falling out, naturally.
But, the important fact to notice is that chemical exposure can offset this natural balance and speed up the hair loss process and upsetting the ratio of growth to hair loss. It is estimated that after each shampooing session, the number of hair loss can reach up to 250 hair, but generally it is not something to worry about as we typically have around 100,000 hair on our scalps at any given time. However, excessive shampooing and use of hair products like hair gels, hair mousse, and other hair straightening and hair smoothing products damage the hair in the long run. This upsets the natural growth ratio, constantly, as the process of renewing old hair with new hair, usually, takes around 3 - 5 months.
Thus, excessive use of chemical hair products can have the effect of speeding up alopecia, where newer hair which starts growing are weaker and thinner and more prone to breakage and falling. Hair loss can be focal, i.e. concentrated in a single area of the head, or diffuse, i.e. all over the head. However, if such a hair loss process, is followed by scarring, which indicates that the hair follicles are dying; then this could be a sign of medical disorder and should be checked by the doctor as soon as possible.
Medical professionals and scientists are constantly trying to find a permanent cure for hair loss and general hair problems. But for the time being, there are a few proven and tested methods to prevent baldness and help in slowing down hair loss.
The first step towards medical treatment for hair loss is “Minoxidil”; also known as “Rogaine”. It is usually applied directly on the scalp, twice a day, and it helps regrow hair and prevent further hair loss, as well. Rogaine, alters the hair-growth cycle, to the last longer, and enlarges and matures thin hair; but sadly, it does not work for everyone. Merck Manual says that "Usually only 30 to 40% of patients experience significant hair growth”. The effects of Rogaine can be seen to work in about 4 month’s period and it takes up to 8 to 12 months to boost hair growth. However, it can also irritate your scalp, cause rapid hair growth of facial hair or trigger rapid heart rates. Nonetheless, Rogaine is a commitment and not a permanent solution to hair loss; thus if you stop using it, any hair that you have gained could likely fall out and the user would go back to losing hair as they were before they started the medication.
A similar proven medication option for men is the oral tablet “Finasteride” also known as “Propecia”; and this drug can stop hair loss and stimulate hair growth, but it also has side effects. The drug essentially blocks male hormones reaching the hair fallacies, thus needs to take daily. Generally, patients start to see the effects of the medication in about 6 to 8 months, but as a side effect, it is known to decrease sex drive and increase breast size and can contribute to erectile dysfunction as well; according to Merck Manuals. Furthermore, it is very dangerous to pregnant women, to even touch the powder pill, itself.
It must be noted that all other supplements, pills or miracle cure-promises do not work at all medically. The only organic solution which has shown some promise is a concoction of lavender oil, thyme, rosemary and cedar oils; which could be helpful, however, there is much research to be done on this area for sure shot results.
According to Shirley McDonald, a Scalp scientist or a “Trichologist” says that medical professionals are researching genetic therapies; but for the time being the best medical option for hair loss is hair transplant surgeries. As the methods of surgeries are advancing daily, and instead of the “doll hair” aesthetic that they used to have years ago; methods such as FUE, FUE Sapphire a DHI have proven to give the patients a natural hair aesthetic, according to their natural hairline; and thus, is a very definite option for patients suffering from hair loss. She says that methods of hair transplant surgeries where hair are transplanted individually yield the best natural aesthetic results; such as DHI.
Lastly, McDonald said, patients who suffer from conditions where even a hair transplant surgery is not a viable option, such as patients undergoing chemotherapy; the best solution is acceptance and to embrace it, and choose the shaved head look; as research suggests people tend to assess bald people as both stronger and taller than their hair headed counterparts.

Celebrity Hair Transplants - Undergoing Cosmetic Procedures As a Public Figure
Hair transplant procedures, when done right, with an experienced hair surgeon using the right tools and technique, should ideally have seamless and natural-looking results. However, when any of the above standards are not met, the result can be ineffective. Unfortunately, many men, celebrity and non-celebrity, have faced this issue. The added scrutiny of public attention, however, can contribute to a desire for more discrete procedures and subtle results. Older procedures, such as scalp reduction and flap procedures, can make this difficult.
Scalp reduction, a method no longer practiced by hair transplant surgeons today, was a popular restoration procedure in the 1980s. It involved the surgical removal of bald areas on the scalp. The bald skin of the scalp was excised, and the two ends on either side were stretched and sutured together. This was done to reduce the surface area of bald regions caused by androgenic alopecia, or male pattern hair loss.
The cutting, stretching and pulling involved in scalp reduction resulted in common side effects such as a loss of tightness in the scalp, creating a "stretch back" effect and visible signs of baldness, as well as hypoesthesia around the excision area and stretched skin around the sutures. Isolated patches of baldness are also common side effects of the procedure.
The conventional approach to FUE is to extract such hair individually with a punch tool from the back of the head, but this is limited in effectiveness due to both the natural thickness of the native hair there, which may look harsh on the temple and hairline, as well as the limited supply of hair in that area. An ideal solution would be to augment the donor supply with hair that matches the intended recipient area, from a non-head location. Most basic FUE tools, however, have trouble extracting such hair safely due to the angle of growth in non-head locations, such as the nape of the neck, beard, torso, leg, etc. A more advanced tool would be needed for such a procedure, capable of extracting all hair types from all hair locations.
Black celebrities can be at a disadvantage when it comes to hair transplant procedures, due to the severe curves of afro-textured hair underneath the skin, which straight, cylindrical punches often struggle to extract safely. Additionally, the tough skin texture, and strong tissue attachments to follicular units, often add to the challenge of removing these grafts from the surrounding skin. FUSS is a method of hair transplant in which a strip of hair-bearing scalp is cut from the back of the head. Hair follicles are then extracted from this strip of scalp and then implanted in the areas of hair loss. A drawback to this method is the visibility of the linear scar formed from the excision when wearing short hairstyles, as well as its tendency for it to stretch downward. Although FUSS is not as popular a procedure as it once was, due to the linear-scar free method of FUE, some African-American men may opt for the former due to past reputation black FUE procedures.
New advances in hair transplant technology present possible solutions for patients with afro-textured hair. One such advancement is the recent debut of the world's first ultrasonic hair transplant on a patient in the aforementioned category. Ultrasonic frequencies, appropriately tuned for the patient's skin tissue, combined with the use of a curved, sharp, punch designed for the curves of afro-textured hair, enabled an easier excision of the curly hair grafts from the tough skin and strong attachments.
The use of ultrasound in FUE may also be applied to other non-rotary tools, such as one designed for unshaven hair transplant, for a more efficient, discrete procedure - ideal for public figures as well as individuals who cannot take time off of work after the procedure.

The Best Treatment for Hair Loss
The Best Treatment for Hair Loss
What do you do once your hair starts to fall out? You panic, you're depressed, you get impatient, use every solution you hear about and end up having even more hair loss. But if it is not because of a scalp disease, hair loss can be treated which means that anyone can get their lost hair back with a little effort, time and investment.
Home Remedies For Hair Loss
Onion Juice: You can take one to two onions, chop them into small pieces and blend them in a blender. Once you have a paste, you can strain it and get raw onion juice out of it. Apply it twice a week and hair fall might stop gradually.
Aloe Vera: Aloe Vera is a natural herb used to cure many diseases and problems of the skin, hair and body. Take some aloe Vera gel and apply directly to the scalp. Massage in circular motions and wash off after some time. Hair fall reduces with Aloe Vera.
Olive oil massage: Massage is always beneficial for the scalp and hair. Even if you think that rubbing your scalp could lead to more hair loss, you are wrong. As slowly massaging your scalp with olive oil twice a week is beneficial to treat hair loss.
Diet And Supplements For Hair Loss
Hair thrives on Iron, Zinc, Proteins and Vitamin B12 which means it is best to increase these in diet to get rid of hair loss
Iron can be found in leafy green vegetables such as spinach which is very good for hair growth and repair
Proteins are high in beans, meat and all dairy products such as cheese, yogurt and cream
Zinc is found in wheat gram and chickpeas as well as beans
Moreover, it is also thought that taking hair supplements has also lead to a reduction in hair loss and increase in hair regrowth.
Hair Transplant
If hair has stopped growing and there are visible bald patches on the scalp, then among the latest treatments is a hair transplant procedure. You can get a hair transplant or hair treatment in Turkey and get rid of hair loss if all other solutions do not seem to be working.
Hair transplantation is a procedure in which a certain amount of hairs is extracted from the donor area (the back of the head) and then transplanted to the bald areas of the scalp. Since this is a natural process, the transplanted hairs start to grow out normally after some given time and can be treated, colored, cut or trimmed any way desired. Throughout the world, hair transplantation has been proved to be the best solution to hair loss in not only men but also women.
There are 2 main types of hair transplantation procedures which can be opted according to the patient's need, hair condition and desire by the surgeons:
Follicular Unit Transplant (FUT)
This is the oldest and most traditional hair transplant procedure practiced all over the world for years. In this procedure, a linear strip of superficial hair and skin is extracted from the back of the head. This is then dissected and divided into small follicle units. After small incisions are made into the bald areas, these extracted hair follicles are then inserted into the incisions for further growth. The donor area is then closed up with the help of sutures or stitches. Hair growth occurs after 3 to 4 months and the final results are visible after a time period of 9 months to 1 year
Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)
The FUE is the Latest innovation in the world of hair transplant. It is a non-invasive procedure in which there is a guarantee of hair regrowth on the donor area. What happens is that part of the donor area is shaved and with the help of a small punch tool, small hair follicles are extracted from the scalp carefully one by one. As these follicles are already divided individually, it takes less time and effort to implant them into the bald area.
After incisions are made into the bald areas, these extracted hair follicles are then inserted in them and left to recover. This is a less painful and scar free method of hair transplant which assures maximum hair regrowth and regeneration through a non- invasive method.
This method is being opted by patients and surgeons all over the world and has proved out to be very effective for hair loss.
Therefore, the best and reliable treatment for hair loss and baldness is hair transplantation if all the other home remedies and medicines fail to work on cases of excessive hair loss.

Understand the Four Rules of Weight Loss Surgery Before Going Under the Knife
Weight loss surgery (WLS) is frequently perceived as an easy means to weight loss that requires little or no effort by the patient. However, patients who undergo bariatric surgery are prescribed Four Rules of dietary and lifestyle management that they will follow for the rest of their life if they wish to lose weight and maintain a healthy weight. All surgical weight loss procedures including gastric bypass, adjustable gastric banding (lap-band) and gastric sleeve, promote weight loss by decreasing energy (caloric) intake with a reduced or restricted stomach size. The small stomach pouch is only effective when a patient rigorously follows the Four Rules: eat a high protein diet; drink lots of water; avoid snacking on empty calorie snack foods; engage in daily exercise.
As part of their introduction to a bariatric program most patients are taught the Four Rules, which tend to be consistent from one bariatric program to the next. Many patients agree to follow the Four Rules which will work in concert with their surgically altered stomach and digestive system to bring about rapid massive weight loss. Some patients mistakenly believe they can return to the eating and lifestyle habits they practiced before surgery once they have lost the desired amount of weight. However, patients who return to their pre-surgery lifestyle and diet often fail to achieve full body fat loss and frequently regain much of the weight they initially lost.
For patients to lose all of their excess weight and maintain that weight loss they must follow the Four Rules for the rest of their life. Before undergoing any surgical procedure for weight management one must be fully aware of the Four Rules and willing to commit to them for life. Below is a quick look at each rule as it applies to WLS patients:
Protein First: At every meal the WLS patient will eat lean animal, dairy, or vegetable protein before any other food. Protein shakes or supplements may be included as part of the weight loss surgery diet. Patients are advised to consume 60-100 grams of protein a day. Eating lean protein will create a tight feeling in the surgical stomach pouch: this feeling is the signal to stop eating. Many patients report discomfort when eating lean protein, yet this discomfort is the very reason the stomach pouch is effective in lowering energy intake. Patients should not consume liquids while eating solid food because liquids will cause the stomach pouch to empty too quickly preventing nutrient absorption and satiation.
Lots of Water: Like most weight loss programs, bariatric surgery patients are instructed to drink lots of water throughout the day. Water hydrates the organs and cells and facilitates the metabolic processes of human life. Water flushes toxins and waste from the body. Patients are prohibited carbonated beverages and advised to drink caffeinated or alcoholic beverages sparingly.
No Snacking: Patients are discouraged from snacking which may prevent weight loss and lead to weight gain. Specifically, patients are forbidden to partake of traditional processed carbohydrate snacks, such as chips, crackers, baked goods, and sweets. Patients who return to snacking or grazing defeat the restrictive nature of the surgery and weight gain results.
Daily Exercise: Patients in recovery from morbid obesity must increase their daily activity and progress to formal fitness building activities that include aerobic conditioning and muscular strength and endurance. Walking, swimming, and biking are all encouraged following gastric surgery. Patients who continue to follow an exercise routine will sustain weight loss and live healthier lives. Patients who do not include exercise as part of their bariatric weight loss program will most likely regain weight and suffer from co-morbidities they hoped to relieve with surgical weight loss.
Nearly a half-million Americans this year will undergo some form of bariatric surgery for the treatment of their morbid obesity. Surgical intervention is proven to be the best treatment for many people in affecting long term weight loss and weight management. However, surgery does not work alone. Patients who are compliant with the Four Rules of dietary and lifestyle change are most likely to enjoy improved health and mobility following a bariatric intervention.

Hair Transplant - A Permanent Solution For Hair Loss
Thick and healthy hairs contribute a lot towards men's beauty. Unfortunately, some people lose them at earlier stage. Baldness really bothers the beauty conscious people, as they lose their self-confidence. They even hesitate to join the social gatherings and events as they take it a major drawback in their personality.
But going bald is no more a matter of worry for them now. They can regain their confidence while restoring back their locks once again. The solution lies in hair transplantation technique that has made it possible to achieve full head of hair.
Hair transplantation is a type of surgery that permanently restores the hair by implanting new follicles into thinning or balding scalp (recipient site) of men or women. The grafts containing follicles are taken from thicker parts of hair, mostly from the back or sides of the head (donor site). This surgical procedure mainly deals with the male pattern baldness.
The Best Hair Transplantation Methods
Follicular unit strip surgery (FUSS)
Follicular unit extraction (FUE)
Before undergoing either of the surgical method, the patient must talk with his doctor in detail about his preferences and the risks involved. That helps the doctor to make necessary assessment and planning. He, on the basis of his deep analysis, decides what procedure must suit the best to the patient's needs. Then the patient is advised not to take any such medicine that might cause bleeding during the surgery, as bleeding lowers down graft quality.
Before performing the surgery, the doctor injects the local anesthesia into the scalp after washing it with shampoo and treating with some antibacterial agent. Hair transplant procedure, irrespective of what surgical methods the doctor adopts, involves two stages. These two stages are "harvesting" and "grafting" respectively.
Follicular unit strip surgery (FUSS)
During FUSS, the follicular units are harvested (removed from the scalp) by removing a 6-10 inch strip of skin containing a lot of follicles off the posterior part of scalp. Then the surgeon and his team cut out the strip into 500 to 2,000 grafts. Each graft contains a single or a few hairs depending the size, quality, or type of the recipient site.
Follicular unit extraction (FUE)
In FUE harvesting procedure, every single follicular unit containing 1-4 hair is removed off the back of the scalp separately. Though the process is more complicated and time-consuming, but it causes no linear scar, rather only tiny dots on donor site. The team then punctures the site with the help of micro blades or fine needles.
Grafting of the follicular units
At the grafting stage, both the FUSS and The FUE procedures are just the same. The surgical team adopts the same procedure as had been performed at pre-harvesting phase. They make tiny holes at the recipient site with needle and implant one graft into each hole. The process is very delicate and time-consuming, of course. The number of grafts depends mainly on the size of the recipient area. An average transplant needs approximately 1000 to 3000 individual follicular grafts. The ideal transplant containing 4000 grafts is more likely to get a full head of hair. Depending on the size of the recipient area, the process of grafting usually takes 5-10 hours. That's really a tough job.
Post transplant care and recovery time
Most patients report mild pain and soreness after surgery. You may need to take pain killers, anti-inflammatory drugs, and antibiotics for several days. The potential hair growth side effects usually include scarring and uneven hair growth. It is the surgeon who decides whether to perform a follow-up surgery or not. The recovery time varies from case to case. Within 2 to 3 weeks after surgery, the transplanted hair fall out, but new hair also grow out within 5 to 9 months.
The hair transplant surgery is absolutely a permanent solution, as the hair follicles are taken from the "safe zones" like back and/or sides of the scalp. The hair growing on these sides generally do not fall out.

Psychological Impact of Short Stature on Mental Health
It is a well-documented fact that people with limited stature, experience social situations differently than taller persons, in comparison. People suffering from short or limited stature or height are more inclined towards feelings of paranoia, inferiority, and excessive mistrust, according to a research study published in the Psychiatry Research Journal (UK) (2014). The researchers proved that making a person’s virtual height lower than it is, in a virtual reality environment; and how such a reduction in height can make them feel inferior about themselves and more fearful that others are trying to harm them. According to the scientists, the research proves that how low self-esteem can lead to paranoid thinking and the research is vital in the development of effective methods of psychological treatments for severe paranoia, which is a very serious mental health problem.
Daniel Freeman of the Britain’s University of Oxford, the leading scientist in the research study said that “being tall is associated with greater career and relationship success. Height is taken to convey authority and we feel taller when we feel more powerful.” Additionally, he pointed out that in the virtual reality environment; when the person’s height was virtually reduced; they immediately felt inferior and this caused them to feel overly mistrustful. Furthermore, Mr. David went on to say that it is interesting to note that “this all happened in virtual reality (VR) simulation but we know that people behave in VR as they do in real life”.
The team of scientists led by Mr.Freeman selected 60 adult women from the general population; who were more likely to suffer from “mistrustful thoughts” and ran a test by placing in a virtual reality environment where they experience an underground train ride. The test protocols demanded that the participants, need to experience the same train “journey” twice, once at their natural height and then later at a height, which is virtually reduced by around 25 cm. The virtual passengers, during bath the train rides were to remain unchanged and neutral; hence to trigger emotions of fear in the participants. The research concluded what some of the participants did not notice the height difference that much; while others reported having had negative feelings of incompetence, unlikeness, and inferiority, during the journey of the experiment, when their height lowered. The researchers pointed out that those negative thoughts manifested as an increase in feelings of paranoia towards the other passengers. Furthermore, the participants reported thought that someone in the carriage was staring at them and had bad intentions towards them or was trying to upset them, in some way or another.
Mr. Freeman said that, this research “… provides a key insight into paranoia, showing that people’s excessive mistrust of others directly builds upon their negative feelings about themselves,” And he concluded that “the important treatment implication... is that if we help people to feel more self-confident then they will be less mistrustful.” Hence, the research to an extent proves the connection between a person’s biological height and mental health. As taller height helps in lowering negative thoughts and improving a person’s self-esteem and a lower stature could trigger negative feelings leading to paranoia and other serious mental health problems.
Another Study in 2003 Health Survey for England, carried out by the Clinical Endocrinology, Department of Health (UK); focuses on how a person’s height in adulthood significantly affects their quality of life, with people of limited stature reporting the worst in physical and mental health than people of normal height. This peer study was conducted on a large scale and concludes that a person’s height in adulthood is directly related to how good that person perceives their health to be. Thus, people with limited stature tend to judge their state of health as being significantly lower than in comparison to the people with normal height see theirs.
The survey was designed to determine a participant's health-related Quality of Life (HRQoL), whereby the participants had to fill a questionnaire and get their heights measured. The research was led by Senior Health Economist Torsten Christensen at Novo Nordisk A/S in Denmark, who used this data to assess the relationship between height and Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQoL). In simple terms, a person's health-related quality of life is their perception of their mental and physical health. Interestingly, the questionnaire forms do not measure the person’s actual health and wellness; but only their own perception of how their health status is. The study focused on five different fields of health; mobility, self-care, well-being, routine activities, pain/discomfort, and anxiety/depression. The researchers also laid focus on general factors as well, such as age, gender, body-weight, long-standing illness, and social class. The study, in total, took into account 14,416 participants.
The category of the people with the shortest stature; men – less than 162 cm and women less than 151 cm, throughout the spectrum, reported a significantly lower HRQoL, in comparison to people of average height. Interestingly the study found that the shorter a person was; the more affected he/she was and lesser the self-image of their quality of health.
Now, the most important facet of the study was that a small increase in height has a much larger positive impact on a short person, than it can on a person of average height. The survey predicts that people who suffer from limited stature could increase their HRQoL by 6 % and more if their heights increased by 7 cm in men and 6 cm in a woman.
No previous study touched upon this impact that an increase in height could, in turn, increase a person’s perception of their health status and thus their HRQoL. The results of this study clearly tend to show that any small increase in height for a person suffering from limited stature, can have a large positive impact on how good they perceive their health in adulthood. The research data combines all physiological, physical, and social well-being factors into a single measure of HRQoL; which is changeable by an increase in a short person’s height.
Lead scientist and researcher, Torsten Christensen said: "We know that people who are short experience more difficulties in areas of their life such as education, employment, and relationships than people of normal height. However, the relationship between height and psychosocial well-being is not well understood. Using this large and nationally representative sample of the UK population, we found shorter people report that they experience lower physical and mental well-being than taller people do. Our results also indicate that the shorter someone is, the stronger this relationship becomes. For example, an increase in height of 3 cm would have a positive impact on the health-related quality of life of a short person, whereas the effect of an extra 3 cm would be negligible for a person of normal height. Although our study does not show that short height directly causes a reduction in physical and mental health, it does indicate that short people are more likely to feel that they experience a lower health-related quality of life. However, further research is now needed to clarify the precise relationship between changes in height and health-related quality of life."
Fatefully, it seems that the taller you are or can be; the better you feel about your overall health. Usually, limited height can be genetic or due to several diseases, such as growth hormone deficiency or Turners Syndrome. In childhood, a growth hormone therapy has proved to have positive effects, and increasing heights in children by 4 – 10 cm. However, biologically when you enter adulthood, it’s impossible to grow taller as your bone growth caps have closed naturally. Hence, orthopedic limb lengthening surgery and its rise, as a cosmetically surgical option is an alternative for people suffering from short stature in adulthood. It can help improve, a person’s perception of their health status and serve as an inspiring and bolstering treatment; both helping persons with limited stature, physically and mentally, and increasing their overall health and wellbeing.

Why Does Height Matter?
It is interesting to note that our height, a simple biological fact, which in natural terms, we cannot do much to change; can affect our lives and future in so many different ways that we cannot imagine. Even though humans are conscious beings but are part of the same biosphere of life found on earth; hence bound by the same rules of evolution as most other animals, in terms of survival and prospects. The alpha male or female evolutionary theory reinforces the idea that taller is better, in terms of survival and excelling at life in every aspect.
It is compelling to examine how does height or stature factor in human life in terms of Education, Financial Success, Sexual Attraction, Health, Social Status, and overall Happiness.
Education & Financial Success
The US President, Abraham Lincoln stood at 6ft 4in (193cm), and the recent US President Barack Obama who is 6ft 1in (185cm); confirms that in America, according to a study, taller presidential candidates usually get more votes, in elections. The reason being that naturally, we are inclined to perceive a person's height with success and dominance; two of the most important features we presume in leadership.
Overall, taller people are considered to be more dominant, intelligent and healthy; thus more likely have better chances at superior employment opportunities; thus earning more financially, as well. Another study found that men over 6 feet tall, on average, earn significantly more paralleled to men whose height is limited at 5ft 5inches.
Some researcher has shown that on average, taller people are more educated and hence earn more; they attribute the height factor as the drive behind obtaining further education and as a result much more financial success in life. Both in the US and UK, men in white-collar jobs have a 1 to 0.6 inch of more height than men in blue-collar jobs. It's not just limited to men, studies have also shown that professional women and women employed in managerial positions are on average taller women working in manual employment jobs. Thus, it seems that is easier for taller people to have a superior advantage in these aspects, biologically.
Sexual attraction
It's a biological fact that taller men tend to have more allure, in terms of pure sexual attraction. Several studies, from time and again have proved that tall men and women are generally considered to be more attractive. Factually, women prefer to date taller men; and taller men gain more desirable partners. As a result, it has been seen that women have a preference for taller men. It's usually the case that women care more about dating a tall man than men care about dating a shorter woman.
Ac recent study showed that generally, women found more satisfaction when their partner was 8 inches (21cm) taller than themselves. On the other has the study found that men were usually satisfied if they were 3 inches (8cm) taller than their partner? An interesting study noted that in men, only 13.5% preferred dating only women shorter than them. But, on the other hand, about half of 48.9%, women preferred dating only men taller than them.
Most interestingly, researchers have also found that women who married men who are taller than them; reported being in better health, well educated, higher incomes and healthier lifestyles than those married to shorter men.
Study on Attraction and Height - a Research paper titled “Height Stereotypes of woman and men: Liability of shortness for both sexes” - researchers examined the connection of stereotypes of attraction and their correlation with height. The study asked a group of people to rate women, in three height categories, "short" (4FT '10inches), "average" (5FT' 4inches) and "tall" (5FT '10inches); and signify various characteristics based on their respective heights. The group found that tall and average woman was more attractive and successful. Similarly, the group, studied the same parameter for men, "short" (5 feet 4 inches), "average" (5 feet 10 inches) and "tall" (6 feet 4 inches); and found that short men were less socially and physically attractive. Also, they found that shorter height meant less masculinity in comparison to a tall man.
Health and Lifespan
It has been reported that shorter men are less healthy, on average. A US study collected data from 165,606 people about self-evaluation of health; which revealed that shorter men reportedly said they were in worse health than taller men. Also, it also found that shorter men married women who also reported that they were in bad health than the woman who married taller men.
The research simply laid down its results as saying that “Short men were less educated, less healthy, had a higher BMI, and lower household income than taller men ... women of a given height who were paired with shorter partners also tended to be less healthy, less educated, and with a higher BMI than women of the same height who were paired with taller partners. ”
Ironically, medical science has also found a few connections with height and health. In a recent medical study, published in the European Heart Journal, found that being shorter can put a person at a higher risk of heart disease. The researchers found that adults shorter than 5Ft 3 inches had a higher risk of having and subsequently dying from cardiovascular disease than taller people. A New England Journal of Medicine study found that the genes associated with eight can increase the risk of heart diseases; and the increase of risk is 13.5% for every 2.5 inches you're shorter than the average person, according to the sexes. A further study linked short stature with a poor socioeconomic status; leading to poor nutrition which could be a risk for the heart- height connection.
Sport and athletics
It is evident, just by a glance at basketball courts and race tracks to ascertain that longer legs or more height, would have a huge advantage in terms of performance and results. Physically, longer leg limbs can cover much more ground and faster; thus, reaching further. Taller sports opponents are generally intimidating to the shorter competition; giving the taller player an edge over their shorter counterparts.
Happiness
Irrespective of the slight annoyance faced by tall people by hitting their heads on small ceilings; there are huge biological, social, financial, educational, and physical advantages of being tall. Many studies have found a connection in the fact that the greater a person's height, the higher their score of happiness and overall satisfaction and enjoyment of life is. This is usually fueled by the fact of better career prospects and economic stability; thus giving a slight edge to taller people throughout their life.
In the end, it seems the verdict is that the "The taller you are, the happier you are." Although biologically, it's impossible to grow taller once you have reached puberty or your growth caps have closed naturally; research in orthopedic practice and the rise of cosmetic surgeries; has made it possible to increase a person's height surgically. This has great advantages of uplifting and reinvigorating a person suffering from short stature.

Psychological effects of hair loss and treatments
What is hair loss?
The loss of hair, also known as “Alopecia” is a very common health problem that is estimated to affect up to 50% of men and women, throughout their lives. In medical terms, hair loss is often characterized into two basic categories; scarring or “Cicatricial” Alopecia and Non-scarring or “non-Cicatricial” alopecia. Hair loss of the scalp is often further sub-categorized as “Focal” or “Diffuse” Alopecia.
Generally, hair loss can affect anywhere on the patient’s body, but most commonly it affects the scalp and as scalp hair is part of a person’s aesthetic, it has societal and cultural importance. This is the reason why hair loss of the scalp, eyebrows, and eyelashes, often cause psychological distress to patients of hair loss.
What are the main causes of hair loss?
The main cause of hair loss is primarily dependent on the specific type of hair loss, whether it is scarring or non-scarring and whether it is focal or diffuse.
A Scarring Alopecia or hair loss, although uncommon, is one which is caused by an injury, infection or some form of inflammatory skin disease, which may include lichen planopilaris, folliculitis decalvans, and discoid lupus erythematosus.
A Non-Scarring Alopecia or Hair Loss can either be Focal or Diffuse.
A Focal non-scarring hair loss is, normally caused by a fungal skin infection such as tinea capitis; or some autoimmune disorder, like alopecia areata.
Diffuse hair loss is what causes hair shedding and thinning, and is generally either due to stress “telogen effluvium” or caused by genetic factor pattern hair loss in males and females. Furthermore, such a hair loss can also be caused by alopecia areate, chemotherapy medication and a variety of diseases which may include, thyroid disease, anemia, and hyperandrogenism. Inversely, psychological imbalances including anxiety and depression can also cause diffuse hair loss as well.
What key facts should I know about hair loss?
It is imperative to keep a note of these factors in dealing with hair loss:
It must be remembered that usually with any type of hair loss, once the hair starts shedding rapidly, the chances of regrowth diminish.
Even if the hair grows back there may be repeated episodes of hair loss in the future.
Medication for hair loss has an inadequate effect, especially for severe forms of hair loss.
Hair transplantation surgical option provides an adequate and reliable solution, however, it cannot be applied to all types of hair loss and related diseases.
What are the psychological effects of hair loss?
Although actual medical research on the subject of the psychological problems which come into effect due to hair loss, is very limited; however, there is ample evidence to suggest that the experience of losing one’s hair can be psychologically damaging, causing severe emotional distress which usually leads to social, personal and work-related issues. As, hair loss in certain societies may be seen as failing body image; a severe hair loss may cause more psychological disturbance than mild hair loss as it changes an individual’s image, especially if it affects the person's eyelashes and eyebrows; features which define a person’s facial aesthetic.
It must be noted that there is a converse relationship between hair loss and psychosocial consequences which may lead to even more distress, anxiety, and depression. It is especially true for women who usually experience higher levels of stress than men due to hair loss and societal pressures.
It is recorded that, people suffering from hair loss have an increased tendency to suffer from psychiatric disorders, including social phobia, anxiety disorders, depression, and paranoid disorders as well.
Clinical features of psychological problems associated with hair loss?
Balding and hair loss can lead to depression, anxiety, and social phobia in patients.
Depression can cause a lack of pleasure and interest in activities, a constant feeling of low moods, sleep deprivation and loss of energy, as well.
Anxiety can lead to palpitations and sweating; caused by extreme worrying, trouble in regulatory those feelings, and a sensation of intensified tension.
Behavioral Avoidance or Social phobia is an extension of the experience of anxiety coupled with social and economic suffering due to the hair loss factor.
A social anxiety disorder can also develop whereby the patient suffers from a fear of humiliation or being judged negatively in social situations, due to some factor; which maybe hair loss; perceived as a loss of their aesthetic and prestige. And thus it results in the patient adopting avoidance of social or performance situations.
Such symptoms can have an enormous negative effect on a person’s psychological health and ability to study, work and personal wellbeing.
What are the treatment options for anxiety/depression caused by hair loss?
Treatment options can be split into two fronts, dependent on the severity of the psychological problems arising due to hair loss.
Psychological Treatment – Of anxiety and depression due to hair loss can be treated with several therapies including; anti-depressants, cognitive behavioral therapy, and support groups. It must be noted that general psychological treatment of symptoms due to hair loss are primarily focused on coping with the loss of the symbol of power, strength, and vitality which hair represents on a biological and social level. Rather, other treatment options, such as surgical hair transplant enables to focus on the root cause of the psychological disturbances and in recent studies has shown as a viable and logical solution to such psychological problems associated with hair loss as well.
Surgical Treatment – Hair Transplant offers the perfect solution to patients suffering from hair loss and also in treating the root cause of the psychological effects associated with the problem. It must be understood that the loss of one’s hair; a symbol of youth can have devastating psychological effects on the identity and self-worth of a person; and hair transplantation surgery can offer the best solution to address that very problem.
Case Study 2008 – Dr. Parsa Mohhebi & William Rassman – Impact of hair transplant surgery restoration on patients suffering from physiological problems due to hair loss and baldness.
The study picked patients of hair loss and psychological problems associated with that hair loss and who underwent surgical hair transplant surgery and observed psychological improvement due to hair transplant surgery.
The results of the study suggested a huge improvement in each aspect of the lives of the patients. Almost 18%, of the patients, felt a greater sense of life and wellbeing, in terms of youthfulness, energy levels, career, sex life, and overall happiness. The study also showed a dramatic reduction in anxiety levels and an improved sense of self-confidence.
Conclusion
With modern and advanced hair transplant procedures a natural aesthetic isn’t hard to accomplish; which can greatly help in preventing and even in some cases reversing, the psychological problems associated with hair loss in patients suffering from both. Conversely, the more a person has suffered due to hair loss, the greater the positive effects can be seen on their physiological health; after a hair transplant surgery.
Generally, both men and women, who suffer from hair loss usually find hair restoration as making a huge improvement in their lives, in terms of social life, career progress, a better measure of self-worth and maintaining a youthful appearance. Thus, hair transplant surgery is a reliable option for the treatment of both physical and psychological symptoms of hair loss and balding.
