Went to my first concert!
This weekend marked a huge cornerstone for me. I drove the longest I ever had to go see one of my favorite bands. Not only was it my first real concert but it was my first metal show as well. I didn't get into harder metal until last year when I listened to Director Cuts by To The Grave. It completely rocked my world and while listening to their brand-new album Spotify made me aware that they'd be playing nearby. I'd already missed out on seeing another band I love last month and I knew I'd never forgive myself if I missed out on being at a more intimate show so I took the plunge and went to see them solo. I was really worried that I'd get bodied or feel like an outsider but what I found was the complete opposite. I've gone to anime conventions, raves, parties, and competitions, and never in my life have I felt more comfortable and looked after. Anytime someone fell down they were immediately pulled back up, anytime I got charged, I was supported and comforted by those around me. It felt like such a raw and loving space. I felt this deep feeling of positivity and belonging during the show and anytime I listened to the music that was performed. This was definitely an occasion that will stay with me. It was almost like discovering a part of myself I'd left behind. My whole life I've felt like I need to restrain myself for others' comfort but in that crowd, I felt like I could let loose and be all that I am!
