Rue's Rare Books

English:

Tucked between buildings on the edge of town, Rue's Rare Books is a weathered three-story building with a stone facade. The store is deceptively small, it's unimpressive exterior hiding an unrivaled book collection. The store is formatted almost like a maze, and walking through it can be a disorientating experience.

Although you can buy a book, you can also offer a trade. If your book is good enough, you give it to the bookstore instead of paying. A few sorcerers take advantage of this, trading in their previous purchase for a new book, almost treating the store like a library.

Before the store's founding, each of the books belonged to Rue Strato's private collection. She spent millenniums collecting stories, sometimes gaining hundreds of books in a single year. It almost seemed like Rue loved collecting books more than reading them. Regardless, Rue's collection was made for herself alone. And if it wasn't for Lior, it would have stayed that way. Lior spent years convincing Rue to make her collection public, wanting others to feel the same wonder he does. Eventually, Rue agreed, begrudgingly taking some of her collection forming Rue's Rare Books.

The bookstore has had some minor success, but the poor location and lack of advertising made it hard to find. In addition, the store had one major problem, it's organization, or lack thereof. Each book was placed strangely, organized in a way only Rue fully understands. Historical romance and sci-fi odyssey, modern poetry and ancient memoirs, are all placed side by side on the same shelf. Fortunately (or unfortunately for him), Lior gave himself the task of filing and organizing the store's extensive collection. Progress has been… slow, but there is progress!

Escondido entre edificios en las afueras de la ciudad, Rue's Rare Books es un edificio desgastado de tres pisos con fachada de piedra. La tienda es engañosamente pequeña, su exterior poco impresionante esconde una colección de libros inigualable. La tienda tiene el formato casi como un laberinto, y caminar por ella puede ser una experiencia desorientadora.

Aunque puedes comprar un libro, también puedes ofrecer un intercambio. Si tu libro es lo suficientemente bueno, lo entregas a la librería en lugar de pagar. Algunos hechiceros se aprovechan de esto y cambian su compra anterior por un libro nuevo, casi tratando la tienda como una biblioteca.

Antes de la fundación de la tienda, cada uno de los libros pertenecía a la colección privada de Rue Strato. Pasó milenios recopilando historias y, a veces, consiguió cientos de libros en un solo año. Casi parecía que a Rue le encantaba coleccionar libros más que leerlos. De cualquier manera, la colección de Rue fue hecha solo para ella. Y si no fuera por Lior, todo habría seguido así. Lior pasó años convenciendo a Rue para que hiciera pública su colección, queriendo que otros sintieran el mismo asombro que él. Finalmente, Rue estuvo de acuerdo y, a regañadientes, tomó parte de su colección que formó Rue's Rare Books.

La librería ha tenido un éxito menor, pero la mala ubicación y la falta de publicidad hicieron que fuera difícil de encontrar. Además, la tienda tenía un problema importante, su organización, o la falta de ella. Cada libro estaba colocado de manera extraña, organizado de una manera que sólo Rue comprende completamente. El romance histórico y la odisea de ciencia ficción, la poesía moderna y las memorias antiguas se colocan uno al lado del otro en el mismo estante. Afortunadamente (o desgracia para él), Lior se dio a la tarea de archivar y organizar la extensa colección de la tienda. El progreso ha sido… lento, ¡pero hay progreso!
