Hey, if you did work over the past few weeks to try to stop the GOP's obscene and murderous budget: thanks. It ended up without the AI regulation ban, the trans healthcare ban, the western lands sell off, and without its stupid name being official.

It passing was a major loss for everyone in this country including the very wealthy and other people who believe they will be able to be better off from it.

But also, it passing was not as bad as it could have been and it took the ongoing effort of huge amounts of people to even make that a possibility, so if you were part of that, from the bottom of my heart: Thank you.

Fuck Generative AI

The amount of people I came across in art school of all places that couldn’t get it through their head that no use of generative ai is ethical, was ridiculous. Like yes I’ve had the normal bad experiences with average people using chatgpt— once went into an electronics store to buy a computer and I tried to ask a staff member about the RAM on this one computer and I watched as he asked chatgpt in front of me, and he did it again when I asked about the storage—but there’s a very specific hurt when a fellow artist proudly tells me they used chatgpt to write their essay.

I don’t know why some people can understand that image generative ai is bad but as soon as writing is on the table it’s like, “whatever.” It’s sad that these people preach “fuck ai” and yet faced with the convience of not having to write it suddenly doesn’t matter. Putting aside the environmental concerns, the same ethical concerns of using image generative ai apply to writing?? People had their work scrapped without permission or credit???? Not to mention that chatgpt is just often wrong?????

So yes I am judging you for not being able to write an email or an essay and resorting to chatgpt. Yes it is that deep, and you are not the exception.

Okay so small little update. I’ve been down in the dumps as of late and I just couldn’t bring myself to do anything but lay in bed and doom scroll.

In light of recent events, my feelings and actions are valid, but I also came to the realization that my fics may be the thing someone looks forward to and needs to get through the day.

That thought gives me a whole lot of motivation. So hopefully i’ll be back at writing and posting regularly soon.
