I'm pretty share that Shouto said that his mother's family was bought from under them, but it's just as heart breaking

Also me: hello Internet, I spend like an hour trying to figure out how psychosis works and comparing it to Todoroki Rei`s case so now I think she has major depression with psychotic symptoms

My arguments

I dunno what about you but I don`t think little Shoto looked like Enji at all. The only common thing is his hair. So, in fact, I think her seeing how her children were becoming more and more like Enji is likely to be result of some kind of delusion. Maybe paranoia? I dunno

Trying to explain how she could pour boiling water on Shoto in right state of mind I understood that there`s no fucking way it could`ve happened. She must have took the kettle, open it and come closer to Shoto or tell him to come closer cause he was standing behind the door. So I think it`s result of some sort of imperative hallucinations or her delusions were that bad

I also h/c that in fact she never talked to her mother on the phone and it also was just “voices” cause well… her parents fucking sold her and did nothing later. And we even don`t see them visiting her like damn, they probably do not regret their decision

Because of the fact that her parents fucking sold her, I refuse to believe that her childhood was nice. Most likely she has some kind of childhood trauma and guess what “Approximately 65% of individuals with psychotic symptoms have experienced childhood trauma (e.g., physical or sexual abuse, physical  or emotional neglect)” fucking wikipedia. And also she was abused by Endeavor to make matters worse

Most likely she had some kind of sleep deprivation, lacked contacts with people, had difficulties with carrying everyday problems and cried a lot. All this stuff is connected to either psychosis or depression or both

So like yeah this is what happens when psychology student watches anime and see a person being in psychiatric clinic for like 10 years. That`s a lot goddamnit. Also if my theory is right than she must be drinking a shitton of drugs. What speaks against my theory - she looks pretty skinny while weight gain is one of the most popular adverse effects of antipsychotics

I don`t have much experience on the issue so sorry if I said something wrong or sounded disrespectful. Also you shouldn’t believe me I am stupid

So in conclusion… no matter his motives it is good that Enji took Rei to psychiatric hospital
