Sunday Cleaning Day :)
Had a very filling brunch at Miss America Diner. Now it's time to do chores around the apartment and I am quite stoked! Maybe I will bake chocolate chip cookies if I have time later. Woot woot!

Whoa, Batman! It’s a bird, it’s a plane, no it’s Jacob Pratt doing the eagle pose with his hoops. Photo shoot by Michael Keith Dubois.

I'm so happy work was cancelled today because of the snow and I was able to watch this kid perform :)
Proud Filipino!
Yah I see tumblr currently loving Yuzuru Hanyu but how about a little love for Michael Christian Martinez, the first and ONLY Philippine Olympian in 22 YEARS
Like shit the boy barely has any government backing, he had TO MORTGAGE HIS OWN FAMILY HOME just so he could join the Winter Olympics...

Michael Christian Martinez made Olympic history as the first Filipino figure skater to compete in the Winter Olympics in Sochi. The first Filipino in 22 years and the first South East Asian to qualify for the Winter Olympics. He ranks 5th worldwide in Junior level skating and he’s number 30 in the overall world ranking. He is so talented. Watch this video and you’ll see. HE GOT VERY LITTLE FINANCIAL SUPPORT from the government even if he’s representing us in such a prestigious event. Thank goodness for SM who gave him 1M pesos to cover his expenses but even that had to spread thin as this is quite an expensive sport. FYI: - He needs 4-6 hours of training but he only gets 4 because of budget constraints. - A pair of good skates goes for just under 2k dollars; he goes through a pair every three months because they wear out. - Coach fees $100-140/hour; he has more than one coach because I found out that there’s a separate coach for specific movements like spins, axels, etc. Not to mention the ring fees. - His mother had to mortgage their house just to support his Olympic training. - He just graduated high school. He took a gap year so that he could train for the Olympics. Can we please, please get the government to do something about this? It’s a little too late for them send financial support now but this kid could go far with the right kind of support. With his skill, this shouldn’t be his last Olympics. He and his family shouldn’t have to worry about finances when the government or the PSC could easily give them help if they were so inclined. As it is, let’s pray for him. I hope his media exposure will open doors for him and that sponsors will come pouring in. If he takes home a medal, great. If he doesn’t, it wouldn’t make him any less amazing. God bless you, Michael Christian Martinez! You make us so proud.
