A very limited edition authentic Atom figure, with only 45 copies being made, is set to release in September 2025. This figure's appearance is based on the 1980s Astro Boy anime.

Sculpted by Alban Ficat, the handmade polychrome resin figure is being produced in France by the Leblon-Delienne workshops. Each copy will be delivered in it's original screen-printed box with protective foam with a certificate of origin showing which number of the 45 copies it is. It will also be signed by the sculptor Alban Ficat.

It is 35 centimeters tall, and will cost 1,295 euros (no that is not a typo; yes, you read that right).

New Jungle Emperor Leo anime remake announced by N Lite

Announced on July 4, 2025 at Anime Expo 2025 in Los Angeles, media and anime company N Lite will be producing an anime remake of the classic Osamu Tezuka series, Jungle Emperor (Kimba the White Lion).

No specific details were given about the remake at the time of this post (July 4, 2025).

N Lite is currently based in the United States, Japan (Tokyo), and Lagos, Nigeria. Their mission is to create afro-anime films in timeless 2D hand drawn, hand painted animation techniques, as stated on their official website:

N Lite is currently producing an original anime film called Mfinda, which uses traditional African mythology in it's story. Masao Maruyama, who was one of the main producers on the 2023 Pluto anime, is partnered with N Lite to produce Mfinda.

NEWS: A Black Jack Nendoroid has been revealed during Goodsmile's Nendoroid FUNS stream today. There's no news as to when the figure will be released yet, but I'd guess it'll have a late 2025 or early 2026 release. I'll update this post when actual pictures of the figure are revealed.

NEWS: Two new Kimekomi dolls of Astro and Black Jack have been released. These two dolls are limited edition and were made exclusively for the Pasona Natureverse pavilion in Osaka. Since these are handmade and made of such intricate materials, they're expensive. They cost 49,500 yen, or 345$ USD each.

Have you seen a Hyotantsugi piggy bank?

Yes, I have. There's a ceramic one made by Shin and Company. I'm not sure of the manufacturing date, but I'm assuming it's early to mid 1990's based on the style of the box. There's a few for sale on Mercari right now, and they sell for about 20-40$ USD.
