Link looked her over as she began to turn form him. Hurt bloomed in his chest as if he was struck by a lynel’s bolt. He balled his fists as his ever styling mask reappeared. He stepped from the water silently as he resumed his position as her knight, her protector, Chosen Hero. Keeping his gaze forward towards the gate of the walled sanctuary, the hero tensed as a single tear when down his face, betraying his unbreakable facade.

Hearing her tears Link stood at his post, not leaving it. He felt his heart shatter as he listened, allowing her privacy. She was the one constant in his life. All his memories had yet to return, most of his childhood was a haze, he could remember his mother and father, but not their faces or their voices. There were still so many voids, caping holes in his life, but Zelda, she was his constant.

With a quiet sob he nodded to himself. He would never marry, or attempt at finding anyone else. He would be her guard and protector, and make sure she had at least some joy in her life, even if it cost his.

“Tentative Beginnings”

“Yes, I daresay that the castle renovations are coming along quite nicely. If I were to provide you with an estimate as to how long the great hall and throne room would be repaired, I’d wager to guess that both would be finished inside of half a year,” a willowy blonde figure commented to an equally tall figure that walked beside her.

“That is excellent news, Your Majesty. The people of Hyrule have been without the castle as the centerpiece of their kingdom for far too long. I still find it hard to believe that this much progress had been made just two years since the Calamity had been banished,” responded the other figure–the one wearing the tell-tale off-white Sheikah robes with her hair pulled back in a bun.

Both figures continued their steady walk down the restored corridor, with its rich red velvet runner, tapestries depicting the Kingdom of Hyrule, and smooth marble floors. Queen Zelda turned to her new Sheikah advisor with the same bright smile that could light up an autumn sky. “When the different races come together for a task and work synergistically miracles can and do happen,” the young queen answered Hayee in a wistful tone. The two of them, as well as Zelda’s personal guard, were heading in the direction of her study to discuss a few matters that Hayee had overheard.
