The year is 20XX, and the world's population has finally succumbed to a disease. While such an event was expected, this disease didn't turn anyone into zombies or wipe out an entire population due to sickness. It is a sickness, sure, but nothing like what was expected.

It all started with a steep increase in crime.

At first, the constant murders and missing persons' cases went unnoticed. These things happen all the time, especially in big cities. As the amount of crime increased, so did the panic. With thorough research, which took about a year and a half to complete, the cause was discovered. This disease caused people to go insane, caused them to obsess over one singular person. They'd do anything and everything in their power, even murder, if it meant keeping the person they were so incredibly infatuated with close to them. In short, it turned people into what a person would call a yandere.

The disease spread rapidly throughout the world, leaving insanity and death in its wake. Despite the steps taken to counteract this, nothing helped. This disease continued to spread, continued to destroy what people used to know as their daily lives.

It's now been two years since the disease was officially announced on live television. While most of the world's population are now classified as yanderes, a few unaffected by the disease still remain. Among those few are, luckily for those reading, you! Somehow, you, the reader, have managed to make it this far. Congratulations! You've made some friends along the way as well.

Nirvana, thorn in your side turned coincidental ally after the panic began. He confessed to you before this whole thing fell apart. Though, that’s in the past. No need to dwell on his feelings for you, right? (TAG: leNirvana)

Alistor, (or, Alis), a single father who’s been searching for his son amidst the mess of a world. He takes great pride in his status as a father, but he hasn’t told you much about his ex husband. (TAG: leAlis)

Finally, Ambrose, a triplet who doesn’t seem too upset about his separation from his family. He’s a massive tease and flirt, but he keeps your group feeling positive. (TAG: leAmbrose)

Your little squad has been just fine, everyone has managed to fend off any stray yandere along the way to safety. These guys do make everything easier, and finding supplies is much easier with more people around.

Lately though, all three of them have been acting strangely.

Gambit's Lament

Yan!OC (Gambit) x GN!Reader

very late postings time!!!!

TW for some gore, breakdowns, general yandere behavior, and depictions of violence.

The scent here is suffocating. It’s all Gambit can comprehend, other than his sticky hands, dripping with sweat and blood. He inhales sharply, regretting the decision almost instantly as his lungs are filled with the stench of death once again. His ponytail is unraveled, the rubber band pulled out in the struggle.

He stares, panic filling his distant gaze as his hands place themselves over the corpse’s chest. He almost hopes to feel some sort of beating, but all he feels is cold, rotting skin beneath his fingertips.

Gambit slowly stands, his legs shaking as he climbs off of the man– or, rather, what’s left of him. His gaze turns blank as he watches the lifeless figure.

This is fine, he thinks. You’re not a murderer, Gambit.

Tears begin to drip down his face as he listens to his own heart thudding in his ears. You’re not a murderer, damnit.

His fists shake at his side, his mind a haze as he slowly turns. Dear god, what did I do? What will I tell–

The air leaves his lungs and his eyes meet yours at the end of the alleyway. Your own eyes are wide and panicked, your phone resting in your shaking hand. It falls to the floor, but Gambit can hardly register the sound, his eyes locked on yours.

“Y/N,” He breathes, the sight of you doesn’t soothe his tremors, unlike what he’s used to. He steps forward, but you step back. His heart is in his lungs, his terror palpable. “It’s not… I’m not a murderer, Y/N.”

You shake your head, covering your mouth with both of your hands. The word sends a shock through you, like you’ve been struck directly in your gut.

“What did you do?” You cry, your legs carrying you back, further from him.

Further from… him?

Why are you moving away? You shouldn’t be moving away. I did this for you. You should be happy. You should be grateful. No. No, wait, I didn’t kill anyone! I didn’t–

“I didn’t kill anyone.”

Gambit doesn’t realize what’s happened until you’re pinned to the concrete, his hands encircling your throat. You squirm and writhe beneath him, but he can’t hear what you’re saying over the ringing in his ears. Your tears and his mingle, his body wracked with sobs as he leans over you.

“I’m not a killer. Please don’t make me a killer.”

I decided to draw cat!reader kinda like how I did so with bunny!reader, except they are in a more human form. They're just watching the chaos and waiting for cuddles and kisses!

I remember the ask I sent about a bunny shapeshifter!reader and thought about it more…

What if instead of a bunny it was a CAT!

Cat shapeshifter!reader still can toggle their cat ears and tail on and off as well as transfer into a actual cat but they have more of a personality??? They would be a sweet bean towards the boys and maybe other gamblers/customers, but if a customer started any trouble, they wouldn’t hesitate to bite them on their hand. HARD.

But cat!reader is always nice and cuddly towards the boys and might even do tricks like giving them their paw, etc!

I was imagining that instead of being a therapy bunny, they were a part of the casino where high paying patrons could cuddle with them weather in human or cat form! The resident cuddle cat!

This is absolutely adorable!!

Now, I'm going to focus on the last bit because that would absolutely get someone killed. Sure, everyone wants to cuddle a cat. They're so cute and fluffy... But there's no way anyone in the casino would be okay with this. Except Amias, I guess, 'cuz he is a high paying patron.

I'm imagining someone does pay high enough to earn this reward, maybe they're some rich guy, or perhaps some innocent person who managed to hit a jackpot.

No matter what, they'll be broke by the end of the night. Edge sliding cards under his sleeves, Amias betting thousands against them, Double Down and Jackpot convincing them to bet more and more with sweet words and promises.

And if all else fails, Gambit can probably find some dirt on them.

As for having a catperson as their fluffy friend, all of them would definitely be fighting over who would get your time and cuddles, cat form or not.

Gambit and Jackpot probably win, though. Everyone respects Gambit too much to argue with him for long, and he's always willing to share with his best friend.
