This isn’t giving the healthiest vibes, but I’ve heard more than one insider say the same, so I’ll queue it in case anyone/many can relate.

Can you believe some people have never been kidnapped before? Like ever?

Or that it’s considered an uncommon atrocity when people kill other humans?

That outsiders not only don’t have many scars, but balk at others’?

I cannot comprehend how so many people have lived so long without these basic experiences. Where I come from, if you have not been brutalized, it is because you died young. And here are dozens, hundreds, millions of people who have none of these. Bizarre. And they say we’re weird — you are, at best, a child by my culture’s standards!

I understand what I went through is not healthy and should not be aspired to, but all these outsiders who try to tell me I have not lived long enough to know pain, that I am naive in what kindness I can offer… bullshit. I am not the one who is ignorant of suffering.
