U know Euclase's comment about Lapis being ''extremely clever and pleasant to talk to''? From what we've seen from their convo with Phos ''pleasant'' isn't the first word that comes to mind (Entertaining, sure. But also kinda foreboding lol) So crack theory: what if the whole time, Lapis has been lowkey flirting with Euclase trying to woo them with clever facts and Euclase genuinely didn't notice bc they thought Lapis was trying to manipulate them into doing their unwanted chores
you’re tempting me with the good ships, nonnie. this is excellent headcanon material
i think it also depends on one’s own definition of ‘pleasant conversation.’ euc is an intellectual so i guess they’d find intellectual talk stimulating, pleasant. and lapis was a smooth talker, which is a pleasant trait too
so maybe euc genuinely found lapis pleasant to talk to. maybe because they were one of the few gems they could entertain deep conversations with

i wanna talk about something that bothers me in the last episode of death note
near and mello were horribly represented in the anime, and i think this is the best example of it. because not only is this shit translation from manga to anime, it’s shit translation from japanese to english.
halle says “mello probably knew what was going to happen all along.” then cuts to a flashback of her last phone call with mello.
and in ENGLISH, mello says “it can be resolved by having a name written in the notebook?”
nononono babes. that’s not what you said my love.
YOU said (in sub) “by having HIS name written in the notebook?“
AND IN THE MANGA:
i get it, it’s essentially the same. but in the english dub, mello doesn’t specify that it’s NEAR’s name that would be written to trick kira.
let’s think. would mello have sacrificed himself if it were anyone else but near who’d be at risk of dying? no he wouldn’t. he’d feel guilty if say, rester or an spk member would’ve died.
but it was near, and that’s why mello died.
so why the fuck are we not specifying that.
after he said this (in the dubbed anime) he then says “well then… if i don’t do it…” which i thought made him sound doubtful and not sure about his decision to sacrifice his life.
HOWEVER
THAT is mello. THAT is the badass who will stop at nothing to catch kira. THAT is the man who even in his intense effort to “beat near” realized that near wasn’t his enemy and therefore saved near’s life. THAT IS THE MAN WHO GAVE EVERYTHING TO CATCH KIRA.
i hate dubbed anime mello <3
even subbed anime mello is on thin ice <3

I love the impressional dissonance between each iteration- in the anime they both seem mortified by secondhand embarrassment, while in the manga Dia is too hysterical to maintain a semblance of composure and Bort seems to be fighting to preserve their own dignity ...

I know this is due to legal issues but it is painful that manga sites have hnk scans translated in every language except the original Japanese I want to read it in x_x
