it's actually hilarious, and by hilarious I mean completely fucked up, how a fandom goes from discussing characters, their storylines and their relationships to attacking each other personally in the most disgusting ways because of a disagreement over the likability of one character or another. it's not that serious. it's a tv show. it's not a psychological social study where at the end of it you'll get a lifechanging psychological profile or diagnosis because of it. it's supposed to be entertainment. there is no moral high ground here. it's a sandbox and everyone gets to play in it. liking one character more than another for whatever fucking reason doesn't make anyone a better person than the next. disliking one character and liking another for the same behavior doesn't make anyone a bad person. watching a show and liking the addict more than the bully or the bully more than the addict says nothing about either one of us as people. watching a show about a violent, outlawed bikergang and having the violent leader of a violent cartel for a favorite character doesn't make anyone wanting to join a cartel in real life. good luck finding a moral high ground in a show like that, I'd like to see you try. it's just entertainment. it's literally not that deep. and if the literal only reason for liking one character over another is that there's a hot piece of ass attached to it, that's valid too. good for you. like and dislike whoever the fuck you want. if you want to have fun discussions and heated arguments about characters and their storylines on screen, that's fine. that's what we're all here for. different people will always relate to different characters differently and gather different opinions and perspectives from different personal life experiences. but I will not tolerate or participate in any form of personal attacking each other or bullying or namecalling or any of that fucked up bullshit. I will not respond to it. I will remove it when it's in the replies. I will delete it when it's in the inbox. and I will block it when necessary. it's a tv show. it's not that fucking serious. we can be nice and civil to one another, it doesn't hurt. I promise.

here's another thought I've been having about Frank Langdon's addiction: it all started with a back injury that another doctor from the same hospital prescribed him painkillers for. painkillers that were probably too strong and too high in dosage. we know for a fact that there is a huge epidemic of doctors who throw painmeds around like candy with no remorse or conscience of what might happen to their patients. with that in mind I genuinely doubt that Frank Langdon is the only patient whose addiction started in this specific doctor's care and it makes one wonder how many other patients this has happened to or if this doctor will ever be investigated. because believe it or not but Frank is not the only one whose prescription writing needs to be audited at this point. and if there is something there, this doctor should face consequences as well.

on this note, with this post, I'd also like to recommend the real life documentary The Crime Of The Century from 2021 on HBO, which dives deep into this exact topic and the beginning of it all. it is very educational and absolutely worth watching. and maybe, just maybe, it will spark a little empathy for patients who put their trust in their doctors but were sent down the addiction road instead.
