As we all know, Stephenie Meyer is a racist who has built her entire brand on the backs of those she has dehumanized & collected a fortune at the expense of others.

As people who consistently discuss her work, we (especially us white members of the fandom) have an obligation to not only remember this about her but also remind those around us.

With Midnight Sun coming out soon, many want to give her money but I urge you not to do so. Speaking out about the racism & sexism that runs rampant throughout this series for the entirety of the “twilight renaissance” means absolutely nothing if you are just going to turn around and put more money in her pockets. If you’re truly against her and the messages she has placed within the pages of her books, you need to refuse. Advocacy that ends when its inconvenient for you & your wants is not advocacy at all.

If this Twilight revival exists for the reasons everyone claims it exists — unapologetically enjoying something you were shamed for as a child, pointing out the issues with the series, holding Smeyer accountable for the messages she tried to plant in the minds of impressionable children — giving her a cent dismantles all that has been said and done against her.

We live in 2020, downloading a copy of this book will be incredibly easy. Choosing to give her money just to hold a physical copy is you making the choice to support her.
