DORA BLEU With echoing acoustic guitar and storytelling, Dora explores the psychic emissions of the imperialist war State. Neither fully composed nor improvisational, in narrative time, twisting bent notes trace the vulnerabilities and inneness of the internalized State. Her new and forthcoming releases are as a trio with Cedrik Fermont and Periklis Tsoukalas. In the past she has worked with many artists including Marc Ribot and Sam Shalabi. EDITH STEYER I am a free improvising and composing clarinet and saxophone player, rooted in jazz and contemporary classical music. With a background in social anthropology, I also have a deep interest in ethnic and traditional music, which has led me to performwith West African ensembles alongside musicians from Senegal and Ghana. My artistic focus lies in exploring the sonic possibilities of my instruments—often preparing them with musical tools or everyday objects. I also experiment with electronics and feedback, blending acoustic textures with extended techniques and live processing. While developing a solo concept remains important to me, my primary passion is creating intricate, collaborative soundscapes and dynamic, noise-infused interactions with other artists. . . https://www.edith-steyer.de/ https://edithsteyer.bandcamp.com/ https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=edith+steyer ______

I SAW A DARK CLOUD RISE

2025/06/13 - 10/12 I Saw a Dark Cloud Rise ALESSANDRA FERRINI Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Torino - IT
I Saw a Dark Cloud Rise, is a solo exhibition by Alessandra Ferrini that proposes a meditation on the interconnections between imagination, technology and ideology. It emerges from the artist’s long-term research on the legacies of the colonial violence perpetrated during the Italian occupation of Libya. At the same time, it puts forward a series of open questions and lines of inquiry that form the basis of a new research on the genealogy of Fascist technological fantasies and their genocidal drive.
This project gives continuity to the beautiful collaboration between Alessandra Ferrini and JD Zazie. For I Saw a Dark Cloud Rise, JD Zazie composed and mixed the music.

I Saw a Dark Cloud Rise unfolds over two rooms and revolves around a three-channel video installation by the same title. The first room, a reading room conceived by the artist as a “decompression space”, allows for the materials employed in the video installation to be expanded, connected, and contextualised through a series of diagrams and reading materials. In the second room, the work I Saw a Dark Cloud Rise investigates the interplay between imagination, technologies of vision and warfare, propaganda and historical imagery, in shaping how notions of progress and conflict are understood and deployed to affirm a collective imperialist agenda and imaginary. It evokes a series of reflections on the centrality of coloniality within Western practices of looking and visualisation, as well as in the formation of collective desires and aspirations. The exhibition focuses on the often-overlooked years before World War I, specifically, the Italo-Turkish War of 1911-12 that resulted in the Italian colonial occupation of Libya. This conflict marked the first use of aircraft and aerial bombing in military history and the development of new, martial uses of wireless technology. The war in Libya and the year 1911 – the 50th anniversary of Italian unification - are crucial to assess the way the Italian liberal nationalist ideology, built onto the myth of Risorgimento, created the conditions for the emergence of Fascism. On the other hand, it brings to light the international, violent repercussions of this ideology, which led to the onset of World War I and the development of new genocidal technologies to control and annihilate colonial subjects. More information at the following LINK It's possible to see the exhibition curated by Bernardo Follini, from 13 June to 12 October 2025 at the Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo The exhibition is open at the following times: Thursday: 8 - 11 pm (free admission) Friday, Saturday and Sunday: 12 - 7 pm

Kriton Beyer is a Greek-German musician and composer, who – as a performer and improviser – mainly works with the harmonium and the daxophone. He studied musicology in Greece where he collaborated with a variety of local music groups as well as musicians like Sakis Papadimitriou and Floros Floridis. In 2004 he moved to Berlin, where he got heavily involved in the improvised music scene of the city. Since then he has worked with many musicians like Phil Minton, Audrey Chen, Steve Noble, Fred Lonberg-Holm, Axel Dörner, Liz Kosack, Kresten Osgood, Tristan Honsinger, Kazuhisa Uchihashi, Tomomi Adachi, Richard Scott, Willi Kellers, Matthias Bauer, Antonis Anissegos, Olaf Rupp, Alexei Borisov, Els Vandeweyer, Harri Sjöström, Nicola Hein and Liz Allbee, dancers like Yuko Kaseki in interdisciplinary performance projects like “enLIGHTenment” and visual artists like Akiko Nakayama. Kriton Beyer founded the “Fragmentation Orchestra“, is a member of the electroacoustic trio “uproot” and the ensembles “Redox Reaction” and FDBK EXPT. In his work with the harmonium, Kriton Beyer uses both the natural sound of his instrument and “traditional” playing techniques as well as preparations, objects and extended techniques, while his daxophone play is characterized by a very personal musical and sonic aesthetic, and an unconventional technique, also supported by the subtle use of electronics. As an improvising musician, he has performed throughout Europe. His compositions are usually characterized by conceptualism. Kriton Beyer has also conceived and commissioned the music software CinePrompt®, which was specially developed for the use for live musical performance and live recording to films. Kriton Beyer also curates and manages the concert series and record label “The Procrustean Bed”, dedicated to Experimental & Improvised Music. https://www.kritonbeyer.com/

Roy Carroll is an Irish musician and composer, based in Berlin. He works primarily with electroacoustic media; which includes transducers, synthesis, feedback, audio recordings, amplification, software, - auditory and psychoacoustic phenomena even. With these materials, Carroll instigates processes that ruthlessly investigate timbre, articulation, gesture, form and so on. Feedback, the horror of an instrument hearing itself, is a recurring component of Carroll's work, creating multi-layered forms that continually renegotiate the transformation of electrical audio signals into disturbed air. www.roycarroll.com

Mat Pogo is an Italian vocalist and graphic artist from Rome currently residing in Berlin. He started his musical activities in the mid-1980s as a singer in several free form rock’n’roll bands such as Dum Dum Power, Electric Citizens, Box of Surprises, I Tifoni, Feten7 and Minga. In 1990 he was one of the founding members of the “Burp Enterprise” multimedia collective originally based in Florence and has expanded internationally, developing a music label and publishing house called Burp Publications responsible for some of the most critically acclaimed projects of the Italian underground scene. Beside his practice of spontaneous songwriting, Mat Pogo moved from avant experimental rock to more abstract forms of music and founded Jealousy Party together with percussionist / DJ Roberta WJM Andreucci and reed player Edoardo Ricci in 1995. Jealousy Party is considered to be one of the most advanced musical units in Italy mixing a unique and individual style with soul, improv, avant rock, noise and error music. His solo set features his voice, a microphone and some electronic devices. As a vocalist Mat developed his own personal language using his experience as a rock singer, improvisor and radio artist where music, sounds, anecdotic and narrative elements fuse constantly. Weird processed vocal eruptions, intense screams, occasional words, pitched mouth cavity noises and electronic textures melt together in a very expressive way and often with a delicate sense of humor. Mat Pogo performed among many others with: Jacopo Andreini, Paolo Cantù, Renato Cordovani, Carlo Actis Dato, John Dieterich, Francesco Donnini, Bruno Dorella, Luc Ex, Augusto Forti, Gi Gasparin, Gianni Gebbia, Stefano Giust, Xabier Iriondo, Roy Paci, Claudio Parodi, Jean Hervé Peron, Chad Popple, Ed Rodriguez, Michael Renkel, Eugenio Sanna, and Nicolas Wiese and collaborated in theatre/dance projects with the Italian company Kinkaleri and the Dutch based choreographer Giulia Mureddu. THE ELLIPSES MEET FRIENDS AT T.I.K.

2025/05/16 The Ellipses meet friends SWANTJE LICHTENSTEIN ELLIPSES MAT POGO T.I.K. - Berlin
The newly founded duo THE ELLIPSES (JD Zazie & Claudia Schmitz) invites Swantje Lichtenstein and Mat Pogo to the project launch on the subject of Ellipses - gap, data loss skip.
The transmedia collaboration between JD Zazie & Claudia Schmitz leads to real-time performances that transcend the traditional boundaries of art disciplines. In a crossover of transmedia gestures, regular and unhinged rotations, clear and broken narratives with gaps, in sound and moving images, the artists pose questions about freedom of communication, dialogue cultures and the meaningfulness of media boundaries. In times of severe restrictions on cultural budgets and turbulent global politics, THE ELLIPSES and their invited guests Swantje Lichtenstein and Mat Pogo examine the increasing loss of democratic values such as freedom of expression, freedom of art and culture, appreciation of those who think differently and diversity of opinion.
*Swantje Lichtenstein – voice, electronics *Mat Pogo – vocal, playback devices, electronics *THE ELLIPSES JD Zazie – turntables Claudia Schmitz – Live Moving Image onto Sculpture, Unfolded Screen
The event will be held on May 16th / 20:00 - 22:00 tik - Theater im Kino e.V. Rigaer Straße 77, 10247 Berlin

LLORENS x FRANK
Berenice Llorens (AR) is a composer, guitar player, and experimental artist based in Berlin. Blending improvisation with organic and synthetic sonic narratives, she creates evolving sonic ecosystems. Through loops and delays, she transforms space into a live territory where sound material and emotions flow and mutate over time. Alongside her solo work, she actively engages in collaborative projects across sound, performance, and improvisation. ig
Frank creates a unique soundscape in the transition from noise to music. He has arranged his improv set with hints of melodies, sporadic rhythms, and sound structures formed from a variety of analogue sound samples. These are integrated into the digital signals of a no-input mixer, various electronic devices, and a modified resonator guitar. Driven by a motor, a coil, and a closed circuit, the strings of the resonator are set into permanent vibration, generating an endless sustain. This results in a radical transformation of both the sound and the handling of the instrument. ig
REANIMATION ORCHESTRA
REANIMATION ORCHESTRA is a dynamic group of musicians united by the desire to dissolve the boundaries between the roles of composer, performer and improviser.. They present their work through a diverse range of sonic resources, encompassing string and brass instruments, as well as live and pre-recorded electronics Marie Takahashi, JD Zazie, Ingólfur Vilhjálmsson, Elo Masing, Caroline Cecilia Tallone, Guilherme Rodrigues bandcamp
