Happy Trans Day of Visibility from your fellow Deaf Trans artist! Enjoy this ASL Trans art I made for George Brown College’s Inclusive Valentine Day cards. Did you know that ASL for ‘Trans’ is based on sign for ‘Beautiful’ but it’s signed over your heart. All us trans are beautiful in our hearts. <3 [Image description: An illustration of two POC wearing purple shirt. Left is a feminine black person with shoulder length curly black hair and a heart necklace. They’re signing “Trans?” The word balloon is light pink. Right is a masculine brown person with a hearing aid, a vest and a nail polish. They’re signing “Beautiful.” The handshake for Trans and Beautiful are same, but Trans is signed over one’s heart (aka, beautiful in heart), while Beautiful is signed in circular movement in front of face.]

lotta t/er//fs are coming out of the woodwork tonight, so i just want to remind any young lesbians following me that:
a public figure who identifies/identified as a lesbian saying “i’m trans, my pronouns are they/them and he/him” is not synonymous with “i’m no longer a lesbian.”
he/him lesbians exist
they/them lesbians exist
pronouns don’t equate to gender
even if he chooses to not longer identify as a lesbian, claiming ownership over people’s sexualities is invasive and messed up.
we as a community did not “lose” a lesbian. either we still have him, or he was never one of us to begin with.
public figures deserve the same space as anyone else to privately figure themselves out
plenty of trans men start out thinking they’re lesbians
plenty of lesbians start out thinking they’re trans men
nothing is so black and white
if someone tries to put a bug in your ear about how “tragic” it is that so many lesbians “succumb to misogyny,” and end up identifying as men, distance yourself. it’s a t/er//f dogwhistle.
t/e/r//fs will not roll up spewing transphobia at you on day one. they will start with little things like this, statements that prey on your loneliness or feeling slighted as a lesbian, and they will slowly indoctrinate you inch by inch.
stay smart, stay vigilant, keep love in your heart.
whoever elliot is, they’re our brother. we share the community regardless. elliot will not stop going to bat for us just because his label’s changed.

i don’t know which young lesbians following me need to hear this, but a public figure who used to (and maybe still does!) identify as a lesbian coming out as trans doesn’t actually negatively affect you at all
if someone spouts some vitriol at you about how all lesbians want to be men because they heard about elliot page coming out, the fault lies not with elliot page, but with the person who’s choosing to sling that rhetoric. please don’t turn against or attack trans people just because a high-profile trans person came out and it reminded some transphobes that they also hate lesbians.

If I see ANY negativity regarding Elliot’s identity you will be blocked. It’s that simple. I don’t care if you’re sad because we “lost a lesbian icon” or whatever dumb excuse you have. He’s not dead. He’s a person who’s not hiding himself anymore and we should be congratulating him.

anyways good morning to femme lesbians with broad shoulders, facial hair, broad chests, who are tall, have flat chests, narrow hips, and anything else society deems “too masculine” bc it’s bullshit and you’re perfect just the way you are

if there is anything I can do to make this blog safer or more accessible for you, please don’t hesitate to let me know. you can comment, DM me, send an ask, however you want to. I have made a few changes to make this blog a safer place for everyone, and I am happy to make more.
for that reason I’m also going to let everyone know that I am legally an adult. at the time of writing this I am 19, and will keep my age updated in my bio. if this makes you uncomfortable in any way, please feel free to unfollow! I promise I won’t be upset with you, I totally understand and I appreciate you setting boundaries for yourself.

hello everybody! just popping in to let everyone know that there’s a butch blog @/pissed-off-woman who is a transphobe and terf defender! please don’t go attack this person, but I do suggest blocking them, reporting them, and giving them the exact amount of attention they deserve- none. (edit: warning that their current top post could be triggering to trans people)
I want to reiterate once again that this blog loves and supports the trans community. always has, and always will. please stay safe. if there is anyone uncomfortable with that stance, please leave this blog immediately. you can unfollow and block me. I will not allow discourse over human rights.
if there are any other transphobic butch/general blogs to be aware of that are still active, please let me know. you can put @/ in the comments or dm me and I’ll add them to this post. if I ever unknowingly reblog something from a transphobic blog, please let me know. I will take the post down immediately.
thank you all for your consistent support. I hope you’re all staying safe and healthy.
edit: here is the list of transphobes to block, and I will keep adding as i find them/they’re reported to me:
