hannibal is supposed to be one of the most intelligent characters but then he meets will graham and doesnt know how to act. stupid ass

honestly the fundamental difference between Will and Hannibal is not that Will doesn’t want to murder people and Hannibal does (because Will does want to murder people), but that Will cares a lot about protecting the innocent and Hannibal does not care about that at all

there are plenty of people who Hannibal wouldn’t seek to harm, but very few people who he would go out of his way to save from harm; Will would do his best to save anyone from harm unless he had a reason not to. Will’s default is wanting to save people, and something specific has to convince him not to; Hannibal’s default is not caring if harm befalls someone, and something specific has to convince him to do so

and I feel like it’s this that’s going to be the main thing that Will still struggles with post fall with regard to accepting Hannibal for who he is, because the idea of just Not Caring About People is so antithetical to his own experience

never forget that hugh dancy (star of the show hannibal) became infamous among fans for constantly saying that hannibal and will were “platonic” and “non romantic” (implying he was freaked out by it) only for  mads mikklesen (aka hannibal) to go to a con (where hugh was NOT present) and happily expose to fans that hugh had been sending HIM erotic fan fiction for years and the one thing mads had taken away from it was that he (hannibal) was “quite good”
