Capitalism has affected art in the way it has affected every other aspect of society; consumerism. People no longer want to look at or appreciate art. Instead, they want to consume it. So easily it becomes a cycle: you consume, you get hungry again, you consume to feed the hunger. By transforming art into a commodity and conforming to capitalist ideals you are, in turn, feeding the beast.
