A groan of frustration left Mia's lips while pushing down every angry thought that matched her sister's words. She'd always been the rational one, the one who made sure everything was taken care of, so when she disappeared, it must've been chaotic. However, it had been months of terrible sleep, so she was holding onto her patience for dear life, while Tessa said all the things she would've if Mia hadn't taken a wrong turn. All of it was hitting her like a truck, seeing her sister again after all this time, and worrying, knowing that Tessa did, in fact, think that this was done on purpose. It made her chest tighten, while her breath hitched in the back of her throat and quickened. The phone made it worse, as I saw all the messages that were left, varying from frantic to angry. "This wasn't working a few minutes ago..." With furrowed brows, she made her way over to the window, unlatching it so that she could take in the sun. "Fuck...shit...so electronics are working, the sun is up, and my baby sister is trapped here great." Her voice came through gritted teeth.
It was all too much at once. Mia closed the window and took a seat on the cold, hard ground, her head in her hands as she did her best to take a few breaths before panic set in. "Tessa, I...." She trailed off, realizing her voice was muffled from her position, so she lifted her head back up and sighed. "I have been stuck here. I'm not sure for how long; I guess you would know that better than I do. I took a wrong turn in the car and ended up here. I tried to call and text you, but nothing went through, and then my phone died. I promise you, I would never leave you like that." She was doing her best not to look desperate, but she was.
Tumblr media
"You did though! You did up and disappear. You did leave! You disappeared, radio silent, not even a 'good fucking riddance, Tess!' text or email. You just vanished!" Tessa countered immediately, not backing down on the argument even though she knew it wasn't on purpose that Mia had 'vanished' seemingly into thin air. She had known all along that it wasn't normal, that clearly something had happened to Mia. Because she wouldn't just up and disappear, not if she had a choice in the matter.
But that hadn't stopped the plaguing thoughts and nightmares that told Tessa otherwise, that Mia had run from her too like everyone else in her life. That Mia had realized that Tessa was the monster, the problem, the thing that needed to be left behind. It made sense. Truly, could she blame her if that had been what had happened? That she'd decided, actually, yeah, I want to live my life and not have my pathetic baby sister destroying it all the time.
Did it help, knowing that she hadn't chosen to leave her behind? In the moment it didn't feel like it made a difference; it didn't quench the fire in her belly or the whole range of emotions she'd felt over the past several months that Mia had been M-I-A, literally. Maybe later, when she wasn't feeling a whole different range of emotion - relief, surprise, frustration, anger - maybe then she'd recognize that none of this truly was Mia's fault. That perhaps this was the best answer of all because it meant that Mia had never meant to leave in the first place...
But finding her in this place, after everything she'd found out about it over the last couple weeks? It wasn't as much of a comfort as she wanted it to be. She breathes out a wavering sigh, trying to take some venom out of her tone - but perhaps failing. "I don't know? A week, two? Maybe three? Maybe a fucking year? In case you haven't noticed, the sun stopped showing up in the sky, so who the fuck knows even what day, or year, it is anymore..." Her eyes flick to the phone clutched in Mia's hand, a device that should most certainly be well and truly dead if it behaved anything like Tessa's had been - and worthless even if it somehow did manage to have a spark of charge. And yet, it seemed to be fully functional? Did that mean she'd chosen to ignore Tessa all this time? A new wave of frustration and confusion and hurt washed over her. "How the fuck -?!"

Had this been any other time, the two would've talked about the new bizarre occurrence of daylight when it should still be dark, or at least darker. Mia quickly became desensitized, a coping response she picked up at four. The creatures scared her, but some of this wasn't new. As a child, that fear of someone lurking about in the shadows felt so similar to the way her parents fought in the night. As a teen, she always had to be on guard, taking up the mantel as parent to Tessa. The sun being up at five am wasn't exactly a cause for alarm, not yet at least.
Tumblr media
Clover made it easy for Mia to listen and take in the new surroundings. The woman quickly went into action, grabbing every item needed to provide the comfort Mia so desperately craved. All she had to do was nod her head yes or no when asked a question. Yes, because the other was right, this situation did call for liquor straight out of the bottle. No, because every time she closed her eyes, she'd hear Tessa blaming her for being here, so sleep was futile. The last question, however, was much harder to answer. Logically, none of this was Mia's fault; she hadn't planned on getting stuck here and then dragging her baby sister with her. Yet, that wasn't how her nervous system reacted to the endeavor.
Mia finally looked Clover in the eyes, able to see that she was half awake and that the sleep she'd been awoken from was pleasant. Her eyes grew wide at the realization of this outburst, while her cheeks flushed in embarrassment. Taking a deep breath in, she focused on the way the comforter put just enough weight on her shoulders to calm her heartbeat and how she fit just right next to Clover. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have woken you up like this. I just, Tessa, my sister she came here because of me. Little shit thought I just ditched her, which I get because that's what our parents did but I would never do that to her."
Taking another swing from the bottle, she cleared her throat, feeling hot tears well in her eyes. It felt as if her brain was spinning behind her skull; a migraine was coming on as she rubbed her temples. "Can I just be here for a bit? I won't bother you, and you can even go back to sleep if you want, but I just can't be alone with my thoughts."
no. there was no way. it couldn't be five in the morning. could it ?? — clover's head whipped quickly towards the window. enough for bed hair to make movement. the sun cracked the darkness, but there was something still about the morning. fresh from the darkness that loomed dangerously. mia...she wanted to speak, but the others name was absent from her mouth. too astounded by the time. clover couldn't ever recall a time she'd been up so early. not since school called for it. even then, her mother had to basically drag her out of bed by her ankles.
Tumblr media
clover was ten steps behind the other woman. her mind fumbled to keep up. though, the tone was revealing that comfort was needed. mia's mind needed to be soothed. "okay." collecting herself, the red head moved to her kitchen. no water. "it's five am and i'm pulling out the liquor. alright. no biggy." reaching for the bottle on top of the fridge, clover neglected to grab any glasses. didn't feel necessary. "this feels like a no-glass, drink-from-the-bottle sort of moment. am i reading that right ?" she called out to mia before reappearing to the living room.
"look, i don't know much about this situation — but i am all ears." arm extended holding the bottle of fermented liquor out. "by chance....have you, i don't know....slept at all ?" clovers brain was still foggy. she could sleep for the both of them right now. "also, i have weed if you need to chill, but no presh. just laying that on the table." sharing was caring. for someone who was a barely functioning human at this hour, clover disappeared once more. when returned, a heavy comforter trailed on the ground — most of it held in her arms. "here, let's sink into this." sitting on the couch, the blanket was draped on the two of them. "wanna tell me why you think this sis situation is your fault ?" clover, tired, tried to widen her eyes to wake herself.

When Clover opened the door, Mia couldn't help but smirk. Of course, she'd still be sleeping despite all the commotion outside. The image allowed her shoulders to relax, knowing that even though so much had changed, some things would stay the same. "I mean it is kinda early, but I thought since all the electronics were going off, maybe you'd already be up." Leaning against the door frame, she let out a sigh. "To answer your questions, it's 5am and I am not good, and water sounds great."
Placing her fingers on her eyelids, pulling them down as if her sinuses were acting up, but really she was trying her best not to cry in the hallway. "My sister is here, she's trapped in this shit hole and it's all my fault. The phones went off, and I got every single text and voicemail she's ever left....she came looking for me cause, of course, she did."
Tumblr media
"If you have anything stronger than water, I will also take that." That horrible feeling of tight panic filled Mia's chest, causing her second second-guess every move her body made. Was her heart beating too fast? Did it always make that sound in her ears? Is this what it feels like to have a stroke? She sniffed the air to catch if that warning sign of burnt toast was near, but instead it just smelled like Hell Town; musty and with a hint of copper.
mouth agape — clover was in the thick of a dream. her mind was wound in imagination of angela bassett putting her in a chokehold, only for nicole kidman to make her drink milk from a bowl. dreams didn't make sense, but whatever clarity the folds of her brain had in this state — she didn't want to wake. drink the milk. why milk ? clover questioned her dreaming state. nicole's blue hues began to fade away with a thump. then another. thump. "no! i'll drink the milk! just please be oat!" she shouted from her sleep. thump. "nooooo...." clover cried out, her feet kicking beneath the blankets. "why...." thump.
Tumblr media
realizing the thumping had been coming from her door, the young woman pushed herself upward. the weighted feeling tugged for her to lay back down — but the noise was persistent. ...and was that a voice ? muffled ? with squinted eyes, clover peeled the blankets off. "alright, alright. i'm coming —" the flat of her fingers rubbed her temples as feet stumbled through the small apartment. "mia ?" matching the voice to the person, clover felt more awakened. "hey —" opening the door, "a-are you good?" what time was it ? "full transparency... whatever you were saying... didn't hear a word of it." lashes double blinked to wake herself up more. "come on inside. sit down. do you want...some water?" was the most certain her kitchen had at least that.

Mia couldn't help but smile at the way the woman reacted to her presence. It was hard not to scare people, but it was normally not followed up with asking for book recommendations; in fact, most of the time, it was met with violence. Placing her pile down on the desk she'd just used for safety, she began to take a look around the dusty shelves. "Well, it depends on what you are looking for...everything here is pretty old, and some of them I've attempted to read and make no sense. Since this place refuses to be anything other than confusing, they also don't really hold all the information a normal book would." Every time she spoke in this place, it felt as if she was speaking in riddles, and it really tested her patience. "Sometimes your best bet is to just grab a few and surprise yourself, but that is also a little disappointing."
As her eyes landed back on her stack of books, she grabbed a thin novella and handed it over to the other. "That one I was able to mark, it's Carmilla, a lesbian vampire...do you think we have any of those here?" Mia couldn't help but laugh at her joke before placing her anxious hands back in her jacket. She'd never been that good with being around people before, and it became worse the moment she stepped foot in this Hell Town. That inner voice critiquing each thing she said grew louder the longer she spent here.
"Nice to have the sun back, huh?"
Tumblr media
Being jumpy had taken over her life the past month she'd been in town - now she was trapped in a literal Hell Town, as she overheard people call it in the diner, she felt her heart drop with every unnatural sound that broke the unpleasant silence. The everlasting eclipse, or whatever the fuck the darkness had been, had made her sleep less in fear of anything that could happen at any given moment in this place. Her biggest fear was one of those things entering because she, or one of the kids, had accidentally kept the doors unlocked or a window even though they were boarded up. The windows had already been tended to before she arrived. Before Alec drove them into this cursed town - though part of her couldn't really blame him, because it had reunited her with her best friend. Her soulmate. Her other half. Her everything.
In much needed distraction, she'd made her way over to the petite building they called a library in town. To get her hands on something. For the kids. For herself, maybe. Not realizing anyone else could occupy the space, it was at the sight of another figure that she clutched her chest with a yelp and needed a second to feel less anxious. ''Shit,'' she whispered apologetically, ''I got lost in thought, which is getting at me lately. Need something else to think about, and since music isn't an option, maybe you got some recommendations? Truth be told, I haven't set foot in here before, no clue if there's anything interesting.''

It was hard for Mia to be certain how long she'd been trapped in this town. She'd done her best to keep a tally in the greenhouse, but once hitting month two, it had to be given up. The more tallies, the easier hopelessness sank in, and there was no time for that. Bastian was one of the first people Mia met after he made his way into the greenhouse for herbs and vegetables. Their first encounter scared the shit out of her, but in the long run she'd grown thankful for it. After harboring years of parental issues, equal parts her mother and father, his entire aura managed to create just the spark she needed. So, of course, when the power was out and being alone creeped her out too much, the diner was the place to be.
She didn't come empty-handed; a few potatoes and leeks had sprouted, and if anyone could make the perfect soup, it was Bastian. Before Mia could even comment on how good it smelled, he was already offering a bowl. "When have I ever turned down..." She sniffed the bowl once more and smiled softly. "Stew, ohh, you must be reading my mind. I've been in a soup mood, and so I brought some ingredients." Placing her bounty on the nearest table, she then took the bowl from his hands and sipped from the spoon.
"So much better than a cup of ramen, that was my specialty back home."

Open ! | Bastian and your muse at the diner
The darkness that had settled upon the town was...unsettling, if one was to put it lightly. But time didn't stop. It just kept on moving, and Bastian had stopped trying to make sense of any of it long ago. They had to keep on keeping on - and one way they would do that is to make sure they all got at least a somewhat satisfying meal in their bellies.
Bastian had made it his own personal mission to try and keep the survivors of the town fed with healthy and tasty meals, even if what he was working with was limited. He was working on a stew on this particular evening when someone stepped into the diner and closed the door firmly behind them. Yeah, life still went on and people still needed to eat, even if there were creatures looking to kill you beyond those doors.
He shook away the thought and slapped a smile onto his face, grabbing a spoon and a bowl to fill with a serving, soon approaching the newcomer and extending the bowl in their direction. "Here - please. You've got to try this and let me know what you think."

open starter location: the library after the 4:44am
Everything was a mess, despite Mia thinking that nothing could get worse; it managed to do exactly that. Not only was her sister trapped here, but another creature lurked in the town with abilities that would defy safety in the sunlight. The latter she wasn't exactly aware of yet, hence why she decided to take a morning daylight stroll and get some books. Reading kept her sane in this hellhole, allowing her mind to find solace in fictional stories where the protagonist fought their own battles and won.
Thumbing through the old books, she gathered enough to keep her mind at ease for a few days and was about to make her way out, but an odd creak rang out, causing her to bolt behind a table and stand guard. Mia wasn't sure if she had always been this jumpy; it was hard to think of the person she used to be after months filled with terror, but she swore it wasn't always like this. Squinting her eyes to get a better view, she was able to realize that the noise had come from a person, not some scary demon who wanted to rip her to shreds. With her hands up in a way that showed she meant peace, Mia slipped out from behind the desk and cleared her throat.

This place had changed drastically overnight. Mia was now aware that her baby sister was stuck here, and that realization sent her reeling. Then the whole power fiasco happened, only sinking her into a deeper depression. Anyone who had gotten to know her was fully aware that the one thing keeping her alive was the fact that Tessa wasn't here, safe from everything that lurked in this town. With that whole illusion faded, she felt a wave of anxiety fall over her frame.
There was only one person who could provide the substance to calm her mind, so that was exactly why she ended up outside the town apartments. Normally, the two would meet in the greenhouse, planting whatever would provide the most sustenance. But today, Mia's sanctuary felt closer to a suffocating prison. Tip-toeing up the old steps, Mia took small deep breaths while repeating you're okay in her head. The words refused to sink in, causing her to run up the rest of the steps and quickly knock on Clover's door.
"Clover, please, I really need to talk to you, or well, anyone...or we can not talk, I just can't be alone right now." Her voice came out in a harsh whisper, desperate for the other to just open the door and offer her solace.

Mia thought the next time she'd hear her sister's voice, it would be when she got out of here and back to her real life, one not filled with actual monsters, just ones of the mind. Instead, Tessa's angry voice filled the once-silent greenhouse. None of this was expected, and caused her to feel dizzy, sitting down on the ground, her shoulders fell forward in defeat. Unable to fight back from the accusations flying out of Tessa's mouth. "I didn't just up and disappear, Tess! For you to think I would just leave you like that makes me..." Letting out a huff of annoyed air, she managed to meet her baby sister's eyes. "I was out grocery shopping and then I took a wrong turn and ended up wherever the hell this place is! I have been trying to get out...I even called you several times, but nothing ever went through."
As if fate wanted to push Mia further into despair, her phone, which she'd kept hidden, began to vibrate under an old wooden panel. The noise caused her to jolt back up, not wanting the sound to cause the creature that had been out there to come back. Grabbing the old phone, she watched as messages from the person standing in front of her began to fill up the screen. The sight caused tears to well in her eyes, the frantic messages met with the anger that was currently being thrown in the air, made her limbs feel fuzzy.
It was easier, of course, for Tessa to blame Mia for all of this, and honestly, she couldn't blame her; she would've done the same thing. Yet it still hurt her pride to know that the one person she promised to protect was now in terrible danger. Her sister being in the other world was a comfort, knowing that the monsters couldn't cause any harm to anyone but Mia. Now that the security blanket abruptly lifted off her, causing chills to run up her tired spine. "Tessa, how long have you been here?" Time was a silly concept, especially when all electronics previously didn't work. Days felt like months, and minutes felt like hours. Mia wasn't even sure how long she'd been here.
Tumblr media
She'd hardly finished speaking before a hand grabbed her and yanked her into the safety of the greenhouse, snaps and clicks of locks being engaged following a moment later. It was a routine that Tessa was already getting far too used to - being pulled off the streets to get locked within a building for an undetermined amount of time. Vaguely she pondered which fate was worse; fleeing from those things or being locked inside with no real way out for...
That train of thought derailed quickly as the other flew by, dousing the light that had been illuminating a section of the greenhouse and plunging them into complete darkness. But even in that movement, the details she'd caught out of the corner of her eye, there was familiarity.
It couldn't be - could it? After only a handful of days trapped in this stupid town Tessa had more or less given up on her search for her sister. It seemed like small potatoes when there were things outside that wanted to claw your face off and the road out of town somehow sent you right back in. But she had found herself in this town for a reason. She'd been searching, following the signs for where the fuck Mia had gone in the first place.
"Mia?" She says, her voice small in the sudden quiet. A few moments pass in silence while Tessas stares into the darkness until her eyes adjust, watching the familiar figure take form before her. "I was - fucking looking for you! You just up and...disappear - and what the fuck else am I supposed to do? I'm here because of you, obviously!" She knows it sounds blame-y, angry -and that she probably shouldn't be raising her voice and yelling at her in the first moments of finally finding her - and yet all of the emotions running through her culminate in throwing accusations and curses at her. After all, it is her fault that Tessa's here in the first place. Sort of. It's easier, anyway, to blame her for it all.

Darkness used to be a comfort for Mia, a necessity when it came to getting any sleep, but that had changed drastically over the six months she spent in this hellhole. After gathering the right materials, she made a decent light source that lasted much longer than anything with gas she created. This was a skill that had helped with survival, something that used to feel like just a trauma response, but now turned into something much bigger.
She refused to go to any party the settlement had planned; instead, she got some weed from Clover and made a small blunt. The greenhouse had become her haven, the only place where she felt an ounce of safety. Lying in a makeshift bed, she crossed her legs and lit the freshly made joint. If anything could help her relax, it had to be this.
Relax, what a silly word, never in her life had she been able to relax, even when living in the normal world. So, to think she could do anything close to that here was delusional. The sound of feet shuffling quickly alerted Mia to sit up and put out the burning embers, before standing up to grab whatever weapon was closest.
Mia clocked Tessa's voice instantly, causing her to sober up and run towards the door. Anger, sadness, nausea, and so much more rose into her chest once she heard the terror in her sister's voice. "Fuck." She muttered before unlocking the many locks on the door and shoving Tessa inside. Closing the door tightly, she quickly put all the locks back in place and then ran over to her light source and put it out.
It took all of her strength to not say anything to her younger sister, knowing exactly what she was running from. They stalked them in the dark, and for a bit now, that's all it had been. The creature got close to the door, it sniffed deeply as if trying to capture their scent for later, before running away. Turning to face her sister, Mia instantly felt overstimulated; every emotion that could run through her seemed to do it at such a pace that she wasn't able to figure out what exactly it was she felt.
"What the hell are you doing here?!" Her brows furrowed before the sadness kicked in, causing her eyes to water and her facial expression to change from anger to relief to sadness. "I was going to get out of here and now....you're stuck here too. Are you hurt? Are you okay?!"

"Shit, shit, shit shit shit shit," Tessa scowled in a huff of a breath, her gaze risking a toss over her shoulder to determine how far away They were as she ran down an alleyway and turned a corner. "Shit, shit, SHIT, shit," she added when she spotted a few more people - or not people - off towards the trees a little bit away, changing her course of direction and racing down the footpath.
It was funny, really - that she was blindly trusting Emmett and Ophelia and whoever else had mentioned what They could do to a person if they managed to catch up to you. But then again, she wasn't about to put that kind of thing to the test if it wasn't necessary. Better safe than sorry, or something like that.
She'd made a wrong turn somewhere, still not that familiar with the town to know her way blindly through the dark. Familiar paths, sure - to the diner and back to the cinema, essentially. But she'd been redirected by those things and now she had no fucking clue where she was or what would be a safe place to hunker down a minute. And she was finding herself in the middle of no where without anywhere around for safety, which was concerning...
Tumblr media
"Anyone fucking home?" She called out as she spotted the greenhouse. It seemed like there was a soft glow coming from inside somewhere, and she had to hope that meant someone was inside and would be able to save her from these horrific streets. Her fists collided with the door as she practically threw herself at it, pounding. "Open up - please for the love of...fuck...unless you want to find my dead fucking corpse on your doorstep come whenever the goddamn sun decides to rise again!" If there was anything left of her to find. Nope - she didn't want to think about that.

She wasn't always out this far, but there was a feeling deep down that she couldn't shake, one that nagged Mia for the past week. For six months, she believed that getting out of Arcadia and back to her sister was doable, but that soon faded into the feeling that Tessa was already here. Walking always cleared her mind, letting her thoughts not be jumbled and flow like they should. The further she walked, the clearer it became that her sister was very much here, but she had no idea where.
Tessa sure as hell wasn't at the settlement, but that is exactly where Mia was led. It wasn't until her eyes adjusted that she realized exactly where she was, and the fear set in. It wasn't the dark that scared her; it was the people and things that inhabited this town, so when Juno's voice asked the devious question, Mia's eyebrows furrowed in frustration. All she wanted was out of here, back to her sister, back to being alone in a house and crying to sleep without creatures looming around her.
"Not the dark, no, more of the things that lurk in the dark." Her tone was sticky with annoyance, even if it wasn't directed towards the other. This place was draining her, and honestly, she never had that much of a social battery anyway. "Seems like you aren't scared of anything."

They didn’t make it a habit to parade about the settlement. Not on a regular day, and most definitely not aimlessly. Juno’s every move held purpose, and with that purpose came specified destinations and a list of tasks that needed handling. Today they had none, and while that to someone else may seem like the perfect situation, Juno hated every second of it. They hated the way people all merged in with one another - sweaty bodies knocking into the other - while they laughed and conversed. Hated the endless sea of voices that followed every inch of the house. If they hadn’t already said they’d show face, Juno would have been off in their cabin awaiting morning.Ā It took the lights going out for them to feel some sense of relief. ā€œĀ  At least my vision’s obscured.Ā  ā€ was their only comment, though those around them seemed much more alarmed. The chaos that ensued only lightened Juno’s mood further. A ghostly smile contoured their face. ā€œĀ  Afraid of the dark are we?Ā  ā€ They went on to ask to nobody in particular as the hysteria ensued. [ attire ]

✹ BACKGROUND; tw; abandonment, anxiety, depression, mentions of alcoholic parent
Mia was born to two people in their honeymoon phase, but they quickly got out of it once she turned two. She isn't exactly sure if it's the trauma, but she doesn't remember much about her childhood. To her, it seems that her whole life began when Tessa was born.
At the age of fifteen, her parents, who fought consistently, decided to try having another child. Why? Well, they thought it would "fix" everything broken between them, but of course it didn't. Once Tessa was born, it only took a couple of months until her father filed for a divorce.
Once their father left, their mother fell apart. Spending a lot of time at odd jobs, but mostly just getting drunk at the local bar. So Mia took up the mantel as mother to Tessa, making sure she was ready for school and that homework was done. Soon, that became her whole world; instead of doing normal teenage things, Mia was often at home taking care of what was left of her family.
She did her best to raise Tessa, but someone that age can only do so much. Mia watched as her sister chose the wrong crowd, had her heart broken, experienced grief, and more. She stayed for all of it, even the worst parts, when it was just crying, yelling, or both. Mia knew that Tessa was all she had and, believe it or not, she was terrified of being left alone.
When her sister went to community college, the two didn't see each other as often. Mia did her best to not push Tessa to come home, even though she'd cry to sleep from the loneliness. She knew that if she tried to hover, it would only make her sister want to be further, so she kept it to herself.
One night, when she was on her way to the grocery store, picking out all the goodies needed for Tessa's visit home. Mia took a very wrong turn, and what she found was Arcadia.

✹ INQUIRIES;
How did your muse spend their first night in Arcadia, and where? After finding her way to the street, Mia was then stalked by creatures that appeared to be half-human and half-monster. The only building she could get into was the greenhouse, and once she settled, she began to call her sister until the phone eventually died. Anger, confusion, and grief flooded her mind as she tried to think of any way to get back home.
Why did your muse choose to live where they do? It was the first place she was able to seek shelter. Once she began to plant herbs and flowers, it became a safe haven in this hellhole. Because she is so hellbent on going home, she doesn't really care where she stays, just as long as she stays alive.
What was your muse doing when they came across the tree? Mia was out on a grocery run, preparing for Tessa to come home for a few days, when she took a wrong turn. The road she ended up on didn't look familiar, and each time she tried to drive away, the car just ended back where she began. It wasn't until she saw the tree that she knew something was horribly wrong.
Has your muse left anything behind that they are desperately trying to return to or escape? Yes, Tessa, her baby sister, who is much closer to being her daughter. Sure, she was never exactly prepared to raise a baby at such a young age, but she also wouldn't do anything to change it. The only thing that keeps her surviving in Arcadia is that she will one day see her sister again. She just has to get out of here first.
