I will never understand the “elain and azriel are only lust so they shouldn’t together!!!!” argument like be so for real right now. If anything, elriel should be the one SJM ship to not get that complaint because they were friends for MONTHS before it ever become anything romantic. They will have had the slowest slow burn. They will be friends to lovers.

Like sure they’re attracted to each other…..but aren’t all romantic couples???? Isn’t SJM kinda known for her spicy scenes???? Why is lust suddenly something that the SJM fandom is so against? Oh, yeah, that’s right. It’s because it’s elain and azriel so now lust is forbidden and romantic couples can not be sexually attracted to each other. So sorry, I forgot.

(Also, this is such a deeply unpopular opinion but I genuinely couldn’t give two poopies about people creating bots to vote under. …. and that goes for any side/ship of the fandom. If they have that much free time on their hands and care that deeply, then all the power to them! I simply couldn’t imagine having that much free time or caring that much, but I also genuinely don’t care if that’s how other people choose to spend their time. I think it’s silly. But again. It’s just a silly bracket. It ain’t that serious. Some of us are acting like people creating bots is the equivalent of a war crime. Again, i think creating bots is silly. The only ACOTAR content I have ever engaged with on Instagram (literally ever) was commenting on the original bracket post on the bloomsbury account that my favorite moment was azriel giving elain truth teller. I commented that from my personal account that has no bookish relation whatsoever. Since then, I have discovered that multiple big instagram accounts within a ship of this fandom has blocked my personal account.😭😭😭

I’m not even going to say what group that is because I truly do not want to start any drama. I’m all for protecting your peace and doing what you’ve gotta do. I was truly just flabbergasted to find out my personal account that has only ever interacted with ACOTAR content ONCE has been blocked by so many (insert name) accounts😭

The thing is I promise I never would have even sought these accounts out. The only ship account hashtag I ever even scroll on here is the elriel tag because I truly have no business scrolling the other ones. Because that’s not my ship. There’s no point in my scrolling tags that don’t belong to my ship. There’s no point in me looking at instagram accounts that aren’t for my ship.

That’s how you know this fandom has gotten to a toxic level of needing new content when we are blocking random accounts for commenting their favorite acotar moment. Please Sarah. We can’t keep living like this.

One thing I absolutely hate about this four-year-long silence is how badly the whole ACOTAR narrative has been twisted on social media.

People started making up the most ridiculous theories — not because they believed them, but because they wanted likes, follows, and rage bait engagement.

Stuff like “Rhys is the real villain,” or “Mor is a traitor.”

Suddenly it became cool to be anti-Rhys, anti-Inner Circle, anti-everything.

Villains were getting glorified like misunderstood heroes — Tamlin and Eris, really?

And the canon ships? The actual relationships in the books? People were throwing hate at them left and right while hyping up random crackships with zero basis.

They created an all-out ship war — and the level of toxicity it’s reached? It’s insane.

And listen, I grew up in the Harry Potter fandom, the Marauders fandom. I was around for the peak of One Direction chaos. I know fandom drama, ship wars.

Dramione Vs Drarry. Jily Vs Jegulus. Larry.

But this? The ACOTAR fandom? This is a whole new level of toxic.

Yes, we can blame SJM and Bloomsbury for the mess — for the way they handled the silence and left everything hanging.

But we also need to take some responsibility as a fandom.

Let’s stop giving views and comments to posts that are clearly made just to piss people off.

Mute topics you don’t care about. Block tags, block ships, block creators if you need to.

Stop turning on each other.

If you hate every character except for one or two, maybe this series just isn’t for you.

If you think “everyone’s a villain,” maybe it’s not that deep — maybe you’re just forcing a take to be edgy.

At this point, I don’t even know if peaceful fandom coexistence is possible…

But can we at least not make it worse?

Im not even mad we didn’t get an announcement today. I will be very mad if we don’t get one on the 21st, though. More so upset that SJM didn’t even acknowledge the 10 year anniversary at all. Not even in the slightest way.

“What Bloomed In The Dark Garden” by ehoney is THE elriel fanfic!!! It’s the elriel bible. Almost every recent elriel fanfic i’ve read references it in some way.

I don’t even think sjm could write their story so beautifully 🥲 Even if elriel is the next book (please god if you’re listening), I think I would still prefer this fanfic.

Because what do you mean “damn the stars. damn the cauldron. this could never be a mistake” or “if the cauldron had only asked…if anyone had asked…it would have been you” was written by someone on Ao3.

Here’s the thing. This fandom plays wayyyy too much emphasis on the opinions of random bookstagramers.

Perhaps the publishers did find a bookstagramer that lived in Miami, told them to go find this clue and to post about it to generate publicity. But, I promise, that is the end of his knowledge regarding the plot of ACOTAR 5.

There is no universe where a random bookstagramer was told the plot of such a highly anticipated book and sworn to secrecy. Absolutely none. Sandy is just a person who is excited about the upcoming book, found this clue (accidental or not), and came up with a clever caption to post about it. They are allowed to pin whatever comment they would like (in regards to the valkyrie). Or repost whatever tiktoks they would like (the elriel theory).

When you begin to attack people’s personal accounts or place their opinions in such high importance as the gospel is when we as a fandom have officially lost the plot. 😭😭😭

Not to get all dramatic, but seeing this genuinely made me tear up a little.

As someone who has always been very feminine and grew up in a family where no one else was, I relate to Elain so much. She is truly one of my soul characters. I can not wait for her to show us that there is so much strength in choosing to remain kind and graceful in a world that is full of so much horror. That you do not have to be a warrior welding a weapon on a battle field to be a fighter. That kindness, wisdom and grace are some of our strongest weapons in such an ugly world. That being sensitive in a world that lacks such is a good thing. That preserving such a soft heart takes great courage.

Elain is not weak. Or boring. Or fragile.

She is brave, courageous and kind. And being all of those things in such a dark world is just as powerful as wielding a sword.

I genuinely do not understand why people are so upset about what moments people are sharing under the Bloomsbury post.

It’s an instagram post. About asking people to share their favorite moments from the series.

Saying it’s a feyre moment? Great!

Chapter 54/55? Great!

Nesta and the stairs? Great!

Elain killing the king of hybern? Great!

The inner circle found family scenes? Great!

Cassian/Nesta scene? Great!

Elain/Azriel scene? Great!

Valkyrie scenes? Great!

Lucien finding his inner strength? Great!

What someone else’s favorite moment is does not negate or lessen your favorite moment. We can all have different opinions and coexist. Someone saying that their favorite moment is a moment from a particular ship does not negate the overarching theme/message of the series.
